Hi Alex just found your channel and it is awesome. In terms of applying for your Fac I have just got mine. It has taken me 9months of experience to apply for it.
The way I done it is by paying for stalking with someone who I have now become good friends with. He signed me off on his ground which allowed me to apply for my firearms. I’m also part of a club which went in my favour.
Every time you go out stalking document it by keeping a log and include details such as how the deer was standing and why it was a safe shot.
I’m in Hampshire and they needed a lot of records as to who I was shooting with and ware I was shooting. They also asked who I was going out with and he had the wright them a letter saying that in his eyes I was safe with a firearm and he also had to confirm that what I was saying I had shot with him I had actually shot with him.
Doing your dsc1 also was a massive help and this is a very good thing to have.
If you need any help message me and I will happily answer any questions you have from someone who has just been granted a FAC
    Keep up the good work

Iv worked as a gamekeeper on the same estate for 25 years and the police still insisted that I had a letter of permission from my boss to shoot on the land I look after as a game keeper . It's all another way of slowly shutting shooting down by making it so hard that people just give up

Tones of outfitters here in Canada. I hunt deer every fall. Come to Canada if you’re not tied to the UK.

Don't give in Alex just yet !! Things have changed alot since i applied for mine some 30+years ago .......understandably they are after a degree of experience from you probably regarding safety and knowledge towards firearms ,as Matt and others have said start knocking on a few doors and lean on a few friends you have made on your hunter gatherer journey regarding land.I would certainly be looking to do a few paid stalks and start killing a few deer if you are confident enough .There are plenty of professional guides out there that will take out the less experienced using the estate rifle, you cant beat being hands on Alex and actually doing it also gaining knowledge from others,a few stalks will make your dsc1 alot easier to complete and understand also.....You're dsc1 and safety course will go along way I'm sure towards the final result......keep going and don't give up ....good luck atb Neil 👍

Don’t stress Alex. It is a journey without a doubt. Why not use this as a positive thing, rabbits and pigeons etc have their place for your channels core content. You can do awesome things with them in the culinary sense all while gaining experience with firearms and working towards deer permissions. Matt will tell you we all learnt by stalking into rabbits etc and honing fieldcraft. It’s all relevant!

You need a good reason to have any firearm, Book a guided stalk or two & a DSC 1 course in the future, theres your good reason, A lot will depend on where in the country you are as to how long an fac grant will take. Join a target club, you will meet people. Nobody will give you land permission as a total novice.

Thanks, I completely agree. It took 7 months i think in the end. Good advice though :)
