Yes and no. It's not like buying a car where it's in your possession. This is more like buying a room in someone's house. You don't have to pay rent every month but, the house could get foreclosed, the owners could sell it and the new owners could evict you, a lot is out of your control. So I wouldn't say forever. They could get bought by a record company tomorrow that decides to shut the whole service down.

Yeah. Here's what I recognized, artists are into making art. All this other stuff with strategy, marketing, advertising, analytics, etc. it needs to be done but most artists just aren't going to do it. There can be a million courses and tutorials teaching how to do it, it just takes a different personality type to do that stuff and you can't change who you are. When you look at getting that support system it's costly because everything is compartmentalized into its own service. An analytics platform might charge you $150 per month, an ad management service might charge you at least $50 per campaign + the actual budget for the ads, Smart link providers charge $50 for access to data, everywhere an artist turns it's added cost. People charging $75+ just to have a conversation with artists. I'm a builder by nature so I'm always designing websites, analyzing metrics, etc. for fun. So, I created the management program for artists to leverage me as a resource. They pay $150/ month and I can work with them to build whatever they need built and do whatever they need done. Sometimes it's building smart links and analyzing data. Other times it's advice on what to do with a particular song as far as where to release and how. I'll teach them how to advertise on any platform they want to use or if they don't care to learn, I'll manage the ads for them. I mean, there have been times where I've helped artists move away from music entirely and build a separate side business because I saw that music just wasn't going to work for them and they had something better. Artists I work with get my phone number and the line is always open so they don't have to constantly think about whether they can afford to pay for help.

Tunecore doesn’t handle anything in the way of Publishing unless you’re using Tunecore’s Publishing service which is separate from distribution. And yes, the recording artist in this scenario is responsible for paying mechanicals for downloads and physical sales. There’s probably more you’re owed from places outside of that but that’s another conversation.
