Apple Cida No... sprint training, strength training ( relevant muscle groups for sprinting) makes you run fast...but exercising your core muscles and strengthening them helps your whole body stabilize itself when running. The core is your muscles that link your upper body to your lower body and when you're running you need a strong link between the two. Basically maintaining long stride(high knees) and drawing all the power from your legs to push forward you need your core. PS: your core include your lower back, obliques and abdominal muscles
There are 3 sprint phases: I find it interesting about the core, it is so important not to ‘pop up’ after the initial drive and after about 70 metres you cannot really accelerate anymore so it is either maintaining speed or minimising the deceleration. I don’t like looking left and right during a race but maybe that reduces tension?!?

A tip for new runners is to run under yourself or something along those. People told that saw improvement even if their feet weren’t actually hitting the ground directly below them.
