its been 10 months since i watched the anime on release and i still haven't and still cant recover man...everytime i play the god damn game bro i just cant on bodyheat fm radio
Probably the one weakness of the show that stands out to me is that it misses some context and assumes viewer familiarity with the world. This is a weakness in the game too where certain aspects are a bit glossed over for things that people living in that world would just know/understand. You can tell the showrunner and writers looked into a lot of the background material from Pondsmith and Talsorian as I believe its the head writer/showrunner is doing comics for Cyberpunk as well. But in the context of the show it becomes much more fairly tale like with just a little bit more context both with character motivations making more sense and accomplishments becoming more significant when you know a bit more about what the odds actually are. Don't want to post spoilers here so I won't go into it but it definitely makes a difference in how you view the ending as well.
@@urbent3147 Don't look for fights where there aren't any.... It wasn't to say people can't understand it just that there is underlying context and background going back to years of source material that the show drops hints at but people are just going to miss out a bit on. because most haven't read it/played the original ttrpg or even heard of it before CDPR released 2077. The fact that you draw the implication that I think that missing context = stupidity however does make me think that you are into drama baiting though.
@@uriel005 I actually like shows where things are put up for the viewers to understand themselves. Keeps things running in a realistic flow. Hate shows where they explain every little thing like we're some morons.
@@gigacatkun Less explain every little thing and more have a context for certain elements to make them relevant. Like it shows Arasaka as being an evil corporation and having a large amount of control of the city but it misses the mark on just how powerful corporations overall are which in turn would make David's accomplishments stand out. Like saying someone won a race and conveniently left out it the guy was missing his legs, running on his hands and it happened to be an olympic marathon... the scale is quite a bit different. In the case of the show it seems much more generic rescue for Lucy at the end rather than an assault on one of the single most powerful organizations in the universe's setting on a site which housed the defenses for a plan which was going to give them a near guaranteed chance at absolute domination of the world. It also doesn't help that the company in question was a major player in what was a world war and is more than equivalent to a major super power who happens to be on a near constant war time footing competing with the other megacorporations. You don't have to spell it out to get the point across but don't let it come off as generic evil corporation either. With that background in place it makes the ending much less downer and more like a fairy tale where the protagonist doesn't survive but still managed as a lowly mortal to make gods bleed.
This show is really awesome. One of the best ending in a different way. Last episode #10 when this song kicks in , you will be transported to a whole new dimension. Love it. Masterpiece.
I heard an interview with the producer from the game company in charge of the show. The anime team called them initially to complain that all the game music they were provided with didn't have any lyrics (outside of the Intro and Outro, the rest was incidental video game music). After a back and forth about licensing fees, the producer went on his PC and created a folder literally labelled: "Music we can afford" and sent over a bunch of the indie songs by bands no ones heard of which were also in the game. The Anime team ended up putting the music to really good use. As pointed out by Gigguk, every episode of this show has a sequence that feels like you're watching a music video.

Dude, the sadness is on point with the series. The show creators are a rare breed that makes a story for the story and will not milk it. There's no season 2 and never will be.
Playing cyberpunk before edgerunners: Shit this song is fire. Playing cyberpunk after edgerunners: Shit about to make me tear up. Looking at the moon before edge runners: Cool. Moon. Looking at the moon after edgerunners: Damn Lucy up there. Can I build a rocket and go clap some cheeks?
Cybernetic implants are an everyday thing. Chipware sockets the most common, which can be used to have chips that either just have a database like phone numbers or even complete skills, like Kung Fu. Do check out the show. This song is from the video game and after this show it has completely changed how many of us hear this song now in game.
You guys got pretty much all of your theories right! So the moon scene, in the cyberpunk universe there device called a Braindance wreath that you wear on your head. It’s like their version of virtual reality, only except the view can fully feel and experience everything the recorder felt. So when they were laying in bed, they were in a braindance. The girl in the video is named Lucy and she took the boy, David, to the moon as a “date” since Lucy’s dream was to go to the moon. I also heard Jeremiah say “maybe he gave up his life for love and his consequences was turning into a cyborg.” That was spot on. The character David as you saw, fell in love with Lucy after struggling in his life and almost giving up. He got every cybernetic implant he could to keep up with her and to save her from the dangers of the city. In the cyberpunk universe, if an individual becomes too metal and less human, they go into cyberpychosis. Once you become a cyberpsycho, there is no turning back. David risked his life for the girl he only met a few days prior to save her so she could achieve her dream of going to the moon. When Lucy was on the moon alone with the spacesuit, she was there for real. No braindance, but without the one who loved her.
chroming himself up with cybernetic implants wasn't to keep up with her as much as it is the influence of Maine. David took it upon himself to achieve the dreams of those he cares for. Even if it was a bastardization of those dreams. Maine told David to keep running. Farther than he ever could and David became the leader of this band of mercenaries that was his only family. There is also the element of addiction that comes with becoming less human which is an element of cyberpunk. But all in all, its masterful. There are many ways to interpret and the direction allows for that to happen. There is a lot of show, don't tell.
I never felt so empty in a sad way after finishing this show... and I don't normally watch anime Its worth giving it a watch, it's only 10 episodes, just make sure you're ok feeling like crap afterwards lol
The anime is set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. A year before the game's story take place. and body modifying is just normal, everyone in that world have it, in that world you can change parts of your body with cyberware that increases your abilities, being stamina, strength, or what ever. They are Humans, with Body modifications.
episode 1-8 = 9.5 episode 9-10 = 8 Didn't you guys feel that the last scenes were rushed? Like .. oh their friend died, and the show refused to elaborate more of it. also like how good becca's character was and they just squashed her like a useless side character.
