    Great job getting so many varieties of vegetables and fruits growing so well in your veggie garden now. Thanks for planting the chili plant for me. Look forward to making chili sauce with your organic chillies.

    Great video. We have the tumbler compost bins like you. They do speed the process up. Start of autumn here. So I guess it's the start of spring with you now. All the best 🇬🇧.

      @risslittleveggiepatch  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much! Yes our egg cartons usually have a glossy sticker on top so that can’t be composted unless you rip it off but it never comes off properly! Haha! I’m having a lovely weekend thanks! I hope you are too! ☺️

    I always watch others get plenty of fill for their compost bins but I always seem to struggle to acquire ingredients for mine. All kitchen scraps are collected but maybe I need to get inventive like you and use some of the cardboard items that normally end up in the recycling bin. That was certainly a bargain getting that bin for $50. Might have to keep an eye on the marketplace and replace my manual turn bin with a geared one.

    • @risslittleveggiepatch
      @risslittleveggiepatch  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have family who save their kitchen scraps for me too! You can also use newspaper as brown material. Definitely worth keeping an eye on fb marketplace! The bin I got for $50 was in really good condition so I was stoked! 🙂

    good work! Some of that composted stuff could be used in a worm bin...the vermicast is a great additive for any garden....mix with the compost and throw in some trace elements...a great start for any veggie patch and the enzimes in the vermicast will help break down the compost into plant food and keep the root system healthy.

    • @risslittleveggiepatch
      @risslittleveggiepatch  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Roy! I did have a work farm a few years ago but found it really messy. The worm tea was great though. I buy worm castings to add to the raised beds which I find works wonderfully and then I don’t have to deal with the mess! Haha! It is a good idea to add the compost to a worm farm though to break down further! 🙂👍🏼

    Nice video. You just popped up in my suggested list.
    I use a small tumbler and once the heat dies down move it into static bins hidden behind bushes etc. to continue breaking down.
    I have an aerator I use weekly to mix up the static bin contents to help it break down quicker.
    I never understand those egg carton labels. The cheap eggs at the supermarket don't seem to have them but anything "free range" or "organic' does.
    Come on guys! Get your act together. Give us easily biodegradable packing.
    Thanks, Larissa I'll sub and see what else you are up to. Cheers!

      Oh wow! Thanks for being my 1000th subscriber! 🤩🤩 Haha! That’s a great idea using the static bin to let the compost break down further! I might have to try this as I think I need another bin with the amount of garden and kitchen waste I have produced this year! Yeah the stickers sure are frustrating. And you can’t rip them off properly so I don’t even bother!

    If only people made their own compost it would save a lot of peat and people would help the natural processes and get rid of waste, I made over 300 tonnes last year.

    • @risslittleveggiepatch

    Er, how would composting be an expense? Not including the hundreds of dollars for the tumblers.
    Composting requires a minimum of 60/40

  • @lis819
