The Dutch don't like "stiudio artists "... as a singer ..you MUST be able to SING !... . live and your coments are realy great
The song was written by the guitar player / singer to the right when a brother of a friend of his suddenly dissappeared and they had been looking for him for days ... he literally felt they were in 'unchartered territory'. Luckily they did find that person but sadly he had passed away.

They wrote this song for a guy in the band ho lost is little brother in a tragic bike accident. They weren't able to perform this song live for many years. Because of all the emotions. Just wanna let you know this!

And vrienden van Amstel Live (friends of Amstel live) is a yearly recurrent series of concerts (sponsored by the beer brand Amstel) where a scala of artists perform, so you see different artists performing and some unexpected collaborations to boot. It's an experience, yes. Never realised this was so unique, guess we Dutchies are spoiled 🤷♀️.
I hated and loved Uncharted by Kensington. Such a beautiful song but when it came out my friend (more like a sister from another mother) just died . So every time it played on the radio I cried my heart out. Had to pull to the side of to road when driving, etc. And it was played a lot at that time. Now I still shed tears when listening to the song but with a smile, remembering her and the good times we had.

They are superb al the time .. it does not matter if the play in a studio or life.
But realise they play together form the age of 15 and started at a pop school.
Kensington set a new benchmark driving’s the stakes higher.

Thanks for this one! I was there... same show as the Kensington-Di-rect collab, just on the other side of the venue. The song is about loss really, about when you lose someone, you can feel like you've never felt before, and you don't know what to do with yourself, and you wish you can just go back to the time that person was still alive. My father had just passed away when they released this song and this was a month or two after that, so it got to me just as much as the girl you see crying at one point. Kensington is great live, and great in the studio. Vrienden van Amstel live is an annual show. They play between 10 and 15 nights each year. The shows sell out within an hour the YEAR before, when nobody even knows who will play... but it never disappoints. This year it didn't happen of course, but we've been able to keep our tickets till next year, so fingers crossed!!! And hopefully I will see Kensington play about 5 times before then.... big fan 😀

You really need to come to the Netherlands and experience the music here. You won't be sorry. Music here brings people together, like you saw with the dancing. Doesn't matter if it is a concert or a street festival.
Kensington are awesome in studio or live, there's not much difference at all. They used to be very happy-go-lucky on their earlier albums and their live shows are always big parties with everybody dancing, confetti everywhere. Their latest studio album, "Time", is much more introspective. It has so many beautiful songs, "Uncharted" being one of them. From the same album I would recommend the song "Island". There is a superb official video for it, but you can also find a live performance from Nov 2019 if you want to do a comparison. They did small live shows to promote the album before the pandemic hit and they never got to do a real tour for it. Fun fact: they record each album in a different part of the world. "Time" was recorded while secluded in a log cabin in the woods of Canada.
This is one of my "unicorn" bands, I have a short list of albums that I enjoy every single song on them, without any feeling like a filler. It's pretty rare to have something like this. Kensington has 2 albums on this list. The only band that has more is Nothing But Thieves, one that I am convinced cannot do a bad song. Ever. I recommend to check those guys out too, their lead singer has a voice that is not from this world.

They have just announced that 2022 is their last year as band....😭😭. This concert is a mix of all the top artists playing alone and with each other. Its an amazing mix.

I think you might also like Douwe Bob. He is an amazing Dutch singer songwriter (live as well as recorded). My favorite songs are Stone into the river and Multicoloured angles.
They are always sounding like this live! Seen them 2 years ago and gonna see them next year for their last concert as the leadsinger will quit..

This is the same evening as the di-rect and Kensington (helden blok) video u made and loved. Its the vrienden van Amstel concert (most famouse acts in the Netherlands get asked to do collabs with other artist there. That is the concept and over 30 artist play on one evening (there own songs and covers)
When i first heard this song it was dec 2019 ..and just found out my mom was diagnosed with lungcancer and would pass in a few months.....this song always takes me back there!! She was diagnosed 12 dec. And died the 4th of januari...
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels. Been there. It hurts. Like nothing you've experienced before. People who haven't been in that kind of situation may thínk that they can relate to it but they can't. Not really. They mean well, may even say the right things but they don't know the dept of such a pain...

I'm going to their concert in December. Can't wait to see a big concert of them. I once saw them in Germany (we're live not far from Germany) and that was a small more intimate concert, which was awesome, but some songs will be great with big effects empowering them. Only I'm bummed out that my husband can't come with me, because of corona the date was moved and now it's not in his leave and he is on sea then (commercial ship not navy) 😞
If the world is open again in 2022 you can go to this concert on januari 13 to 22.

No really,,, DVD quality singer. This is sooo good., one thing not to forget is that the editor of this video has done a lot of editing and maybe also some audio filtering.
This event is every year in February and its organizst by a Dutch beer brand called (you quashed it haha) Amstel. Its also operating under the Heineken flag. But please dont drink it bah bah. But these concerts are for 8 nights straight and sold out in a view hours. Only dutch bands and singers doing covers and songs of there own. Great event . i visited it i think 13 Years aggo.
