- The craziness continues as Alex Taylor runs ANOTHER 8 second pass, John Faroane shows up and breaks his personal best, and Tom Bailey has his one and done pass and hits the road! We followed Rick in his beautiful RX-7 and trail and tribulations he experiences on his drive to Cordova!

started following 1320 a week ago , I must say from the videos I see these people seem to be the nicest racers calmest coolest I've ever seen . loving all the videos and cars thumbs up to all the drivers and 1320 .

I see a lot of y'alls videos on carthrottle, never really came to look, but great quality, coverage, and editing. Wish they did some official behind the scenes videos or livestreaming what they came across, but no such luck.

Being from the UK I don't really know much about Drag Racing, so can anyone tell me is it in the rules that this particular class of car has to drive to the next meeting?? Thankyou for any reply's (that RX-7 really needs a tyre rack lol)

how does this event work as far as driving these cars legaly down the road? I can't imagine them all being "legal" but are they? or is there some kind of deal cuz it's drag week?
you actually dont need a lot for a car to be street legal. being fast doesn't mean illegal. basic safety stuffvis all.
+focused313 I live in NY and you do need ALOT to be legal it's a real pain in the ass but I imagine you'd need working lights and signals at least and registration it looks like quite a few of theses cars don't have some of those things
+brettlyjonesin Its one of the main points to the whole drag week. These cars have to meet the restrictions and regulations of being road legal for each state they drive through along with following the safety guidelines pertaining to their race class "roll cages, parachutes, killswitches, etc". It is very difficult to tread the thin line between competitive race car and dependable enough to drive the 1000+ miles of the event. That is why you are seeing them having more issues on the side of the highway opposed to the track. When i bring my car to track it might only be running for ten minutes the whole night, yeah ran hard for some of that time but still only ten minutes. Some of these engines are not built for the punishment of the highway for hours. Its the great equalizer, you might be the fastest but if you cant last the entire event you are not going to win.
...horn...turn signals...drivers side mirror...seatbelts...I'm in Louisiana so its pretty relaxed...

I must say, I love these cars but people claiming a full built race car is also a street car are just wrong. This video proves it too. Come on having to take 9-10 hours to make a 3 hour journey, and having to pull over so your car doesn't explode is not the definition of a street car. Its the definition of how hard it is to drive a race car on the street.

+Sky Racer (leadfoot) it's actually an 94 S10 the guy made into a blazer but as far as the engine is concerned it was a procharged 523 big block a few years ago (2012) so I'm not sure if it's the same now. The driver's name is Steve Fagan btw.

I meant plain street tires for the drive to and from the drag strips. Though with how much drag radials probably cost and the car cost them i think the extra few dollars on tires that run in the rain would be good. Unless its against the rules?

they have rules set in place as to what & how much you can carry in order to keep it both competitive & fair.... that's why you don't see a 20-25' travel trailer hooked to them.

As someone who doesn't live in the States I have to ask- How are those cars legal to drive on the road? I can understand some of the vehicles like the RX-7 but that Camaro has me wondering.

Lol g-ham has no idea what he is talking about. But most of these guys own there own shops and can legally inspect them and make a few 'minor' adjustments while filling out the inspection. Same with registering it. Most aren't insured.
+ItsBorrowed its not the "regulations" that are lax, it's the police that let it slide, make no mistake, the unlimited cars and others are in no way street legal, the police choose not to be dicks as long as the guys don't drive like one
nocoolname32 partially what you said is right but not really. The police have nothing to do with it. Its the guys at the DMV or the shop youre getting it inspected at or registered at. LIke i said, most of these guys can do that shit by their selves. The cops enforce the law, not make the law.
mrnoah1124 must be different here, you just walk into the DMV give them the title and they give you your license plates. they don't so much as glance as the car, never have to see it. so they couldn't care less what has been done to it, it's the cops that can cause a racer to have a bad day

Ok ok what's the fastest stick shifted street driven (not just street legal) DOT rubbered car out there? Can you do mid 10's like this?
+Ed Bartek mid 10's is child's play, believe fastest street driven stick shift car is in the 8's and that is on skinny tires.
Props to that, any Idea what the setup would be to achieve 8's on DOT legal rubber?
if you go with fat tires, guessing you would need probably 1500-2000hp. Keep in mind the widest DOT approved street tires are mickey thompson sportsman pro radials and they are 33 by 21.50
