I just watched Deven Yankee (a replay on day 5 at drag week) in a black 66 or 67 nova run a 8:02 at 172 mph with a 1:25 60' on the back wheels. you guys need to do a post a closer look at this car. I really want to see more of this car.
Assuming he would do the first 1/4 in 6.0 at 250 and then add the high gear after that, then right around 9.60--9.75 @ 285-295 as you need so much more force to keep accelerating at that speed. Assuming the tires would hold and the car wouldn't get unstable.
Lutz' Camaro is a purpose built Jerry Bickel Pro Mod class car, detuned to be street driven; The chassis is SFI 25.2 certified (look it up)for anything under a 6.00 ET at less than 2500lbs car weight; The safety certs are based on ET, not top speed; Since outlaw pro mods are ;running deep in the 5's at over 300 already, ;you could say that the chassis and tires won't magically fold up at 300mph trap speeds.
Brad Icenhour yea, im great at car control but this would have surprised me, and i would likely have put it in the wall in this situation. But i guess he saw the pressure fluctuate or whatever and it gave him a slight early warning. Amazing save though
It just blows my mind how the Veyron has the fastest top speed of a production vehicle and it's impressive, but it takes MILES to reach that speed, then you have Lutz almost eclipsing it in a 1/4.
Both cars were made for completely different purposes. These drag cars need constant maintenance changing parts every few dozen miles. The Veyron is luxurious and it is also fast and doesn't need to be babied constantly either. They are both fast off the line in favour of a drag car but the Veyron was made to take corners effectively as well.
Alex Taylor. In my opinion, the prettiest car in dragweek. Simple, just red with the stripes. My dream car. But it's not only nice to look at, it's fast too. It runs almost the same as Lutz Jr.'s civic, but the camaro still is a camaro, and the civic hasn't been a civic for a long time.

it has the power to reach 300mph, but i doubt that chassis couldn't take that.
the tires alone aren't rated for 300 mph

Yea. Gravity and momentum played their parts as well. His chute did most of the work but he remained strangely calm during the 170+MPH skid
