    I bought a SoloII with the kayak paddle and backrest. I use it with my dog and love it. Im a 53yo woman and I can carry the canoe, paddle life jackets, my small cooler and walk my dog down to the water in 1 trip. Super cool! I will be getting the stabilizer, though, cuz my dog does not consider her movement. Yikes!!

    Thanks for this very helpful review. Looks fun and easy! I will be traveling solo in a Humble Road MiniMe, so storage space will be VERY limited. George has made a nice spot for my inflatable kayak to live, but I may want to look into this option too . . . We will see. It also has to work well for my 48-lb poodle to join me. Your pup seemed quite comfy in this boat, though she is quite a bit smaller than my Standard Poodle. Hmmm 🤔 Anyway - thanks again. Safe travels.

    • @CareyOnVagabond
      @CareyOnVagabond  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks:) We started out with an inflatable kayak and it didn’t work well for us. We move a lot and once you use one it has to be completely dry to roll up and put away. Ours had all kinds of nooks and crannies that were hard to dry out. Maybe we were being a bit lazy but the time and hassle of inflating it stopped us from using it as often as we could have. Maybe we just needed a better inflatable.🤷‍♂️😂Tell George we said hi!

    I've been a canoer (is that a word?) 😂 for many years. Had to give it a rest because of stupid tendinitis in both shoulders. These look great though! I'm giving myself a rest this summer, but next year...look out! 😅😅😅
    Will definitely look into this product!😊 And I really love the idea of a back rest!

    Just get a couple of very strong bungee cords and wrap them around the straps on one Canoe and bring the side-by-side next to the other. One and wrap-around the strap there and hook your bungee together now you've got a catamaran.

    Hi friends. Superb presentation. Would love to have one like that now. Here the weather went from cold to a long heat wave. Which made fishing in the forest completely impossible due to low oxygen in warm water.

    At some point, you two are going to have to just relax and start enjoying life (just kidding of course). You've a tough decision to make regarding the canoes. I think the dual with oarlocks might be best since Dave is out fishing so much. Are you guys getting much rain your way? Cause over here in Montana we are starting to get soggy. Better wet than smokey! Carey On!

    Hi Dave and Irene
    Taking any accessories into accout, and comparing the Duo to the two Solos which has the greater load capacity?

    • @CareyOnVagabond
      @CareyOnVagabond  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The duo has a weight capacity of 520 pounds. The solo2 each holds 300 pounds.

    • @pamelabraman7217
      @pamelabraman7217 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CareyOnVagabondSo the solos combined can carry 80 pounds more. And are six pounds lighter than the Duo. I think I'd go with them because they give you more options. You both can sort of do your own thing but still be together on the water.

  • @stevec2665
    @stevec2665 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    They looked pretty cool but I was wondering about a few things. The tracking didn't seem to be good (staying straight while you paddle) until Dave was racing to catch up so maybe that was more normal then when you guys first started out and I remember Irene didn't have much experience with that. Usually kayaks will have foot braces so you don't keep sliding down in the seat, did you miss not having those in that Solo2. Lastly I usually like a high back seat for comfort and stability, did that seat feel strong and supportive? Thanks

    • @CareyOnVagabond
      @CareyOnVagabond  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They tracked well for how small and light they are but it was super windy. Much better with the kayak paddle for us. I usually like a foot pedal in a kayak but with the shape of the floor in the bow there is a natural place for your feet. I actually never even noticed which is kind of cool. I was super surprised and we were both very happy with the back rest. It is a very comfortable high back rest. Hope this helps.
