As always really good information from Dr. Berg. However, I noticed it's about a month old and the lipid science keeps progressing. Now the key lipid marker that's tying to longevity is Apo B. It's been such a hot topic the past year I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Berg didn't have a video on it in his library. Usually, your PCP either won't know about it or run it, but your cardiologist, endocrinologist, lipidologist, etc. will really want to know how it's trending since it's a cardiovascular event predictor. There is so much conflicting advice on cholesterol on YT. I've heard Dr.s say don't worry about your cholesterol levels. Also, I've recently watched a video stating, "Plants are trying to kill you." I'm currently on the carnivore diet (4 months) and I haven't felt this good in a long time. I'm 63yrs old and I've got more energy now than I've had in a while. I haven't had a vegetable or a fruit, nor grain in the 4 months I've been on this diet and I've lost 4" off my waistline. I want off this BP med and eat right and exercise so that my cholesterol numbers stay in check. It's just all so confusing. The stress wakes me up at night which I know isn't good either.
@@jennifermarlow. Oh my goodness thanks so much for your tips! I do watch Dr. Berg too. Some foods, teas, and minerals could interact with my BP med so I've been reading/watching online to research it all. I'm 59 in couple months. The BP med is a combo ACE/diuretic so I have to go to ladies room a lot. So annoying especially in middle of night then I cannot fall back asleep like last night. I'm definitely going to start walking everyday (my routine got turned upside-down from a broken arm and surgery in April). Get more healthy foods and vitamins too. Have a great day and thanks again!
I’m a carnivore and enjoying it’s immense benefits!! (weight loss being only one of dozens). That said, I always supplement my OMAD meal with sauerkraut/garlic. I’ve never been so healthy, had amazing mental clarity and energy, as I am now @ 67. Most people who see me assume I’m at most in my mid forties…🥩👊👏😂
@@Texasgirlinacrazyworld Who said anyone’s starving? OMAD on carnivore allows you to comfortably stuff yourself to full satiety, there’s no counting of calories or macros needed. Rarely am I hungry, and if I am I just have a cup or tea or coffee to tide me over. You’re obviously oblivious to the countless benefits of intermittent fasting, but ignorance is bliss I suppose. Stuffing my face all day with countless meals/snacks/lattes isn’t really my bag, but knock yourself out Texas girl…👊
@@michaelmcginnin1126 I'm Muslim from Los Angeles. Don't listen to these individuals. They don't know what they are talking about. It's like when people used to tell me in my family about fasting for a whole month. Mind you, this dates back to about 15 years ago !! Now that certain of these family members are older they are now all talking about diet and eating moderately. And that's because they are facing health problems and/or have an overweight. That said, intermittent fasting the way Dr Berg suggests is one of the best forms of discipline and diets one can engage in. I say this because we do a dry fast for a month and while this is an obligation and works, intermittent fasting is being able to have the option to eat at whatever time you want and whenever you want but not because you are programming your mind and opting to have discipline to overlook a mild hunger or craving. Every metabolism is different but unless you try it, you can't knock it. I never gave intermittent fasting a thought and now it's the best alternative without having to work out. Regards.
Following your KETO+IF plan and have lost 22 pounds in 4 weeks. Controlled my blood sugar to levels not seen in 10 years. Only thing worrying me is the fatigue and muscle pains which are not going even after adding more veggies and vitamin supplements.
@heleneketoif He is TOO busy eating doughnuts to read comments. "Catching up"? I thought it was a deliberate plan to chase up on the straggler viewers on older videos, like DB himself does on videos dating back many years, always on the case with new viewers to those videos. Am I right Dr Berg?
Could be low on iron and/or potassium (check your RBC’s, ferritin, iron). Low iron makes you fatigued bc you’re not getting enough oxygen to the cells. Low potassium causes stiffness and muscle cramping. Also, low potassium causes low energy bc it’s an electrolyte which gives the cell energy.
We are learning how to eat healthy lots of healthy vegetables. However, people pocket’s short term cannot handle it. I know it’s more expensive the long run but it’s hard to worry about the future when you broke now. Our country needs to subsidize healthy options for us to consume. More farms that grow whole food
I love just throwing my vegetables into my blender and making a green smoothie every day. I put in a little bit of everything. It's easy and fast. My smoothies are never sweet. I got away from all the sweet fruits a few years ago with the exception of berries.
A problem that I have run into with eating more vegetables and reducing my consumption of carbs and high calorie foods is that I lose weight. I’m 67 years old, in good health and am pretty active. I walk for 40-45 min everyday and play Pickleball 2 or 3 times per week and the gym once or twice a week. By eating what are considered healthy foods I lose weight, which I don’t want to do as I am 5ft10 inches tall and weigh 158-160 lbs. Where do I go from here?
You'll lose weight until you plateau, that plateau is your maintenance weight, if you're losing weight that means you have weight to lose. Lose it until you reach your homeostatic weight level. excess fat is not healthy.
At 67 year old you probably don’t have a high metabolism so your probably don’t have to eat that much. I could understand if you were like a skinny young kid with a high metabolism
@heleneketoifShe will still need to increase her calories though bc increase in muscle kicks up your metabolism. So if she is already having a hard time keeping on the weight then she’s already not eating enough calories. Putting on more muscle is always awesome, but you just gotta eat enough to grow and sustain that muscle development with proper amount of caloric intake.
Your mention of eating more salads at 3 mins in prompted me to mention that I and many other people I’ve read do not digest salad well and that salads cause many people constipation. I found out the reason is because the stomach lacks proper digestive enzymes to break down the fiber. I started taking DE and it made a big difference. I no longer fear eating salads.
I wish I could remember which video it was in but he just recently did one that explained how some people that do a vegan diet do very well but when they go on a carnivore diet it doesn't work and vice versa.
I trying everything,I eat low carbs from years ,and my LDL is still so high,I eat strawberry, chia seeds, nuts, eggs, round beef ,the only carbs I eat is sweet potato’s and my blood work is the same when I eat 350 carbs per day with 200 gram protein and low fat diet then! I think something genetics is the problem here !
My LDL is 221 😞 everything else is perfect ( lower spectrum of normal range). BP is often 110/70. I’m skinny muscular. TG to HDL ratio is only 0.31 I eat plateful of Broccoli & Spinach daily. Don’t understand why LDL is such🤦♂️
I eat TONS of roasted veggies that have been drizzled with either olive or olive or avocado oils and TONS of salads. I love gently steamed Bok Choy and use my homemade nutritional yeast salad dressing on everything . I eat ground flax seeds, chia seeds, oatmeal, no sugars, small amounts of chicken, fish and occasionally red meat. Guess what? I have very high blood pressure and cholesterol. I love to walk regularly and have lost 10 lbs recently with 10 more to go. I’m beyond discouraged!
Keep your carb intake to under 50 grams per day. You'll be amazed. My husband and I usually, with the odd week of falling off the wagon, keep our carb intake below 100 grams per day, and I keep it under 50, on average. His cholesterol is that of a fit 20-year-old man even though he's overweight, and mine is well within the ideal range even though I'm a postmenopausal woman.
Dr kenberryMD says not to eat vegetables :( but I do eat them I try to eat a low carb diet and moderate protein for example Tonight I'm having a piece of wild caught salmon with broccoli carrots and cauliflower
I love dr Berg but this time I do not agree. I do not want to reduce my cholesterol and my LDL. High cholesterol and high LDL is healthy! Triglycerides need to be low, not cholesterol and LDL! My gut does not like much fiber. Fiber causes bloating, gaz, cramps, constipation and fatigue (in me). I feel better when I eat less veg and more animal fat and protein. Veg has anti nutrients which block the absorbtion of vitamins and minerals and also can cause leaky gut and inflammation. Please stop being afraid of cholesterol and LDL!
Thank you, how about Legumes??? I make chili, it has vegetables, ground beef, legumes and at the end I add a can of Coconut cream to give it that extra fat. Usually I eat two meals a day, one is eggs( four) and the other chili or Beef Stew. I cook Chili or Stew once a week, to eat for a week and eggs every day!! Very Simple, don't spent that much time cooking , I use the extra time for walking or Running!! I (58 ) cook my own food, less work for my wife!😀😀😀
Good info, but I read everywhere that it is the only the SOLUBLE fiber (not the insoluble fiber) found in barley, oats, phsyllium husk, beans, apples, and other few that lowers the LDL. Anyone want to chime in?
How long would it take to lower cholesterol this way? I am following all the recommendations for 3.5 months and whe I went off my statins my cholesterol went back to extremely high. My HDL good cholesterol is also going up. I have a genetic cholesterol problem and heart disease, heart attacks and strokes are too. Will I need to stay on a statin or will diet and excise eventually work. And after how long. My high cholesterol scares me. Please answer Dr. Berg 🙏
Hi doc im from the uk and our cholesterol limit is below 5.5 mmol/l and mine is 11.7 , my triglycerides are very low at 0.78 im full carnivore for the last 2 years and feel great , would you recommend me having a little vegetables / fiber regarding my cholesterol levels????
Mr. Berg, in an ideal world, increasing vegetable consumption would be thought of as wise and safe. Not so today. Organic? Non-GMO? Both are at the mercy of Chemtrails...in the soil and in the rain. Greenhouse grown? A much safer choice.....also, far more expensive. So, how about speaking on the minerals that need to fill our cells, that remove waste from our cells, flush blood and bowel of toxins....and help keeps us disease-free? This would be vitally beneficial to your readers.
The unit of measure for vegetables should be grams (weight) not cups (volume). Ten cups of kale could weigh less than 100 grams whereas 10 cups of broccoli could weigh over 700. Use weight not volume.
I am 67 and in great shape thanks to your advice. I eat mostly protein (meats, eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese) and raw vegetable salads. My total cholesterol was 200 and HDL was 99. I was so happy!! All my blood work was perfect! I will continue to take your advice.

@@kat7777 Good points. Sometimes I just don't know what to eat. On BP med now since May. My cholesterol is a bit high (total and LDL), but HDL and Tri in good range so doctor said my ratio is fine.
Nothing as confusing as nutrition and it’s guru’s
@@jennifermarlow.would u pls share your blood type? I’m reading that only a certain type does well on carnivore. Ty so much.

Regards.
@@CG-mj8tk So sorry, I completely forgot my blood type! BTW what is the blood type that usually fares better with the carnivore diet? Be well….

THANK YOU🫡..ALWAYS GREAT USEABLE INFORMATION!
Following your KETO+IF plan and have lost 22 pounds in 4 weeks. Controlled my blood sugar to levels not seen in 10 years. Only thing worrying me is the fatigue and muscle pains which are not going even after adding more veggies and vitamin supplements.
Are you making sure you are getting enough electrolytes?
Well done, keep going, look at sea-salt.
@heleneketoif Bet you £50 Syed does not say thank you. 🤨
Great information, as always. Thank you
We are learning how to eat healthy lots of healthy vegetables.
Excellent. Keep up the good work!
Increase your calories to sustain your ideal weight
Organic grass-fed butter.
U & ur team r good at what u do. ❤
I appreciate your kind words.
@@williamhartzelljr.9080 yes, too much fiber with veggie/vegan or too little with Carnivore.
Also added digestive enzymes , probiotic daily x
@@mariettatheunissen7608 yes I forgot to mention that that helped me a great deal as it breaks down the cellulose fiber.

Plants are sugar
No way! They taste horrible to me and have a texture I can’t stand. I’ll stick with my vegetable powders.
But our instinct as a baby is not to eat vegetables because they have oxalates, phytates and lots of anti-nutrients🤮
Very useful video .Thanks sir🙏

Dang, I was hoping you were going to say oatmeal! 😂
Hi Dr Berg, you helped me on broadening my knowledge about different aspects of health related issues. Thank you so much.
My LDL is 221 😞
everything else is perfect ( lower spectrum of normal range). BP is often 110/70.
I’m skinny muscular.
TG to HDL ratio is only 0.31
I eat plateful of Broccoli & Spinach daily.
Don’t understand why LDL is such🤦♂️
Fantastic info as always doctor 😊
Thanks much!
Thank you. God bless you 🙏

I ❤ vegetables Dr. Berg!! Thank you so very much for sharing this informative video.
Glad to hear that! Most welcome.
My cholesterol was a wee bit high so my doctor told me to eat 2 granny Smithe apples a day to lower cholesterol.
Has it helped ?
@@flyingwarrior7155 I usually only eat 1 per day, will check with doc in January.
Sounds like parents insisting that you 'eat your vegetables!!' knew instinctively what they were talking about.
Dr kenberryMD says not to eat vegetables :( but I do eat them I try to eat a low carb diet and moderate protein for example Tonight I'm having a piece of wild caught salmon with broccoli carrots and cauliflower
Interesting. I feel a natural draw to greens now that I'm doing animal keto. I don't really feel much for veg otherwise. Thank you.
Appreciation n blessings from Aus.
Would really appreciate it if Dr. did a video on prp
Excellent. Thank you for this info
Greatly appreciated!

Keto got rid of my high cholesterol.
Good info, but I read everywhere that it is the only the SOLUBLE fiber (not the insoluble fiber) found in barley, oats, phsyllium husk, beans, apples, and other few that lowers the LDL. Anyone want to chime in?
Thank you, Dr. Berg.

Berg 🙏
i eat a avocado everyday - is that good fiber to help with bile production?
You are the best! So helpful and informative Thank you Dr. Berg ❤

Off topic but is it ok to eat salmon packed in oil?
I love broccoli and cauliflower but it gassed me up badly. I take a probiotic too.
So which cholesterol and number is too high?
Just thinking how this is affecting people that had the gall bladder removed.
