I've tried both these powders and I find the rcma powder better by miles, in fact, I hated the LM powder, my skin just looked so so dry and it showed up every fine line. Thanks to discovering it on your channel, the Rcma powder is an everyday staple for me and all I use. Its better than all the translucent ones I've tried!

Wayne is right about cornstarch based powders. Corn starch exposed to moisture can breed fungal or bacterial substances. This can happen if someone starts to sweat while the cornstarch is present on her face, which can lead to breakouts and inflammation

Also alot of people are saying the Laura mercier is too dry, I also have veeerrryyy dry skin ( naturally and partially retinols fault) but I use the elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream over my whole face, other wise my face shrivels up and goes flakey, and it makes any makeup and powder look sooo stunning!! For real tho you go the whole way with powder and your skin will still look amazing!

What about MEHRON? Also very affordable and it is used in theaters. Long-wearing and a fairly big pot as well. Since I never received my order from our local RCMA, it left a weird feeling in me, so have ordered MEHRON instead. I even received a hand-written note. A lovely touch, I'm a fan. I use a tiny amount.... it mattifies so gently & not at all noticeable. xxx

I like the rcma for baking on my forehead and cheeks b/c I am much more oily in those zones. I primarily use the Laura Mercier powder for under my eyes, the rcma is too drying there and my fine lines become more apparent. The combo of the two is amazing.

I'm so happy I found your channel!!!I'm getting back into makeup after a long hiatus. For the first time in years I'm going to use liguid and cream foundation, but was very concerned about powder. I used minerals for years and had to stop for a number of reasons. One was minerals settling into wrinkles around my eyes, forehead and nose. Soooooo.....I purchased a pressed powder which is fine, but really wanted the loose powder control.
Thanks to you I purchased the RMCA powder from Beautyish along with The Ordinary foundation. Yahooooooo!!! They arrived today and I ordered on the 30th. Talk about fast. Saturday my Mom comes home from a two week visit with my sister and I am going to surprise her with my first new look in forever. :-)

OO! I saw the new too faced peach perfect powder and wondered how it would do. You really like it? I have the opposite skin type-sensitive and combo (oily t zone) and so setting make up in the t zone is always interesting, but the color on that powder would be a lovely match for my skin. How drying did you feel it was?

    • @caseypmakeup
      @caseypmakeup 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Jamie Lynn hey babe, out of all the loose setting powders ive tried it is by far the least drying (idk why because you would think its super dry since its for oily skin) but when you touch that powder, its the lightest softest thing ive ever felt lol. ive tried cover fx loose powder, rcma, laura mercier..... i would think though if you get dry that the too faced born this way loose powder may be good, but i absolutely love the peach powder, i didnt use primer under foundation and i put that powder on and it makes me loom more flawless than ive ever looked lol its some miracle powder for me!

I’m suffering from rosacea, so... just like blemish prone skin can’t use products with cornstarch. I’ve been using the No Color powder for over 5 years, with good results. I have oily skin, too... and the NCP works just as well as more expensive powders. Just wish they’d also make this in a pressed version. Right now, I alternate between the pressed NARS Crystal and MAC, for touch ups on the go.

I adore both of these powders! I have normal skin, slightly oily in the T-zone by end of day. For me, LM wins a smidge because my makeup stays just a little bit longer (like you said) - but I have very long work days and I find this matters for me! However, my face looks somehow even more flawless and airbrushed with RCMA. I also find that, even with the high price tag for LM, it lasts me for 6+ months even using it every day. Love your videos Wayne!

Am I the only one who DOES have issues with all translucent powders always being white on my face? I’m white enough, these always make it worse. Even the tiniest bit of powder does it. I still use them because the silica ones do work amazingly at controlling oil. Then my face dries out. So I either have to deal with having oily skin or flakey dry skin. I can’t win. But that one day when I’ve gotten rid of the dry skin and I use the powder again and don’t have an oil slick all day, is glorious. If I’m lucky, I might get 2 days before the silica starts sucking the moisture out of my soul again.

Amy Brock I came here to TH-cam to research setting powders because I have the same problem! I used Mac and now I’m using Coty. Both makes me look WHITE! (I’m Asian, by the way). I can dab a little and dust it off ASAP and it still leaves a white cast. Maybe RCMA will do better.

In Mexico the RCMA is available for almost $20 :( I have combination skin and it gets more dry than I'd like it, at least definetly not for baking. And also because in my skin tone it leaves a little bit of whitness. I just have to use a very thin layer. Even though, I like it, and that amount of powder it's gonna last forever. I still want to found a perfect powder.

Thank you so much for this! I was actually going to buy the Laura Mercier powder but I'm so glad I watched this before I did! I can have problematic skin and I didn't even know about the RCMA powder! Definitely going to try it out, and thanks for being short and to the point.

I just started using RCMA powder again and I don't love it like I used to. I don't remember it leaving a white cast on my skin, but it does now. I've never tried the Laura Mercier powder so I cannot compare. I do love ELF's pressed HD powder, but I think there's probably flashback since it's HD. It's finely milled for the price though and sets my undereye well.I would like to try the Charlotte Tilbury powder.

My face has been breaking out ever since I started using the LM translucent powder to set my face.
You’re the first beauty guru that I know of mentioning anything about the Laura Mercier containing cornstarch. Thank you so much for the info.
    Love ur videos

I'm an oily skin gal and I finally succumbed and bought a travel size of the Laura mercier. After baking with it like I normally do with my powder, my oils were coming through only a few hours into wearing it. Kinda sad and disappointed. I think I'll just stick to my Coty airspun but who knows maybe RCMA may have some tricks up its sleeve.

I’m using rcma powder and I find it’s finish quite cakey on skin whereas when I use Chanel universal powder the skin looks much more silky and smoother in person but both show up on camera quite the same.

I thought I'd love the laura mercier powder because so many people did but neither me or my sister cared for it. When you baked it would settle uneven, ashy in some areas, n looked like a ghost. So then I would be scared of baking entirely because when I'd take it off, itd take concealer with it. One day it was so bad that someone asked me why I looked tired because I had a full face on and basically no concealor because it took it away but it was still "set" in so I couldnt do anything. Also, I didn't bake for too long id put it on for maybe 1 minute, I found all these problems under eyes, chin, nose, and forehead.

I have the Laura Mercier and I prefer it over the RCMA. The RCMA was okay, but it seemed drying and it didn't blend as well into my skin. Plus the top of the packaging broke after a week.

I have the LM powder and have loved it ever since I got it. I do have oily T-Zone skin, and it helps keep the foundation set all day long. Honestly, though, I'm finding I reach for my Too Faced Ethereal Setting Powder more than the LM!

Laura Mercier Powder costs too much in Australia. I didn't re-purchase, wasn't worth it and didn't work that well on me. I have kept the powder puff, that's nice. What is a great powder available in Australia that doesn't have flashback? And thanks Wayne, I love how your videos don't go for 20 minutes despite loving your voice.

For a high Street alternative, I use GOSH primer and mattifying powder. £8ish from Superdrug and is pretty good too.

I use both for a while now and i really love them both, they work well for me and i don't bake, caus i'm 36 and have mature skin, it really doesn't look well if i bake.
But if i have to choose, i slightly prefer the Laura Mercier.

Havent try rcma powder yet. I bought the laura mercier for my makeup kit, i tried to use it for myself just to see how it performs on my oily skin. Ang youre right Wayne, i have sensitive acne prone skin too and i noticed i break out whenever i use it though it really lasts a long time for oily skin that is, if you have no problematic skin like i do it is i think an excellent powder
