Cashman cost the Yankees from going back to back in ‘09 and ‘10. He dismantled the experience talent after the ‘09 offseason. Letting Damon and Matsui, who were old but could still very well play and their experience meant everything. And also trading off Melky. He sabotaged the Yankees chemistry. That’s why the Rangers stuck it to them. Had Damon and Melky and Matsui been in that lineup, i think it would’ve been a much different ALCS. The only pitcher in ‘09 playoffs who had their number was cliff lee. Everyone else, they hit hard. But it only takes one or two experienced solid clutch hitters to change a game and those three Cashman traded off/let walk were part of that clutch. That entire ‘09 lineup could take you deep and they all hit. There wasn’t a weak spot. And now look at the yanks…they suck
2005 and 2006 were nightmare postseasons for AROD 2007 wasnt any better, but it was better than 2005 and 2006 Yankees missed postseason in 2008 AROD was the man in the 2009 postseason I dont care about anything from 2010 and beyond, mainly since AROD finally broke through and won the Yankees a ring in 2009. But I do remember him getting benched in 2012 I think during the postseason
I truly believe that A-Rod was coming alive in that 2007 ALDS, and that if the Yankees were able to pull through and win that series that A-Rod would've gotten hot. I've watched the full games, his swings were better, the at-bats were better and he was starting to hit with authority.
You could absolutely make a case that A-Rod was deserving, hitting .429 with 3 homers, the biggest one in Game 2 extra innings. I have no problems with CC getting it, he pitched like an ace in both starts. The first game set the tone for the series, and the 2nd game (on the road in a tough environment at Angel Stadium) put the Yanks on the brink of clinching the series. But, A-Rod would be my (and everyone else's) overall postseason MVP from that year :)
09 Arod is one of the best postseason performances of all time.
Should've won ALCS MVP, his stats were ridiculous and all in big moments.

2009 was incredible. Everything else is depressing.
Look how quickly it went from 05 to 07

He did not live up to his contract (not that he cared)
