I am a Dignity Village grad. Then I lived in a woman's shelter. I got a job and moved to a single occupancy room. Then I moved to a low income one bedroom. Then I got a job in Seattle. I live in a low income senior citizen one bedroom now. Thank you all at Dignity Village. So happy to see you carrying on and how beautiful the place looks now.
Hi from Australia, state of New South Wales. This is incredible & wonderful & this is what is needed here, In my area. I hope to do much more for our own homeless & so far I help one person who, Like me, Is doing it very tough. We both have our own little places now so we are very lucky although financially it's a great struggle to get food on the table, be able to afford the dentist & afford transport, a struggle to pay to see the doctor etc. I watch a lot of tapes on the homeless as I feel closer to these people than to anyone else. I don't have any family & in my own small way, The homeless are my family. So that's what I'm learning about & how to be of more service to the homeless. I'll get there & one day perhaps even have something like this Dignity Village, to help establish here for the needy. Great job mates. Welcome to you. Lots of love.

Most " homeless" people can teach the rest of us about how to live and how to separate our needs from our wants. They have a sense of community the rest of us would do well to copy.

This is a better way to handle the homeless situation than tent cities. I would suggest to keep it as clutter free as possible. They need these throughout the 🇺🇸. This would provide transitional housing until they get back on their feet. Those who refuse to follow the rules or housing would be denied services & arrested if they pitched ⛺

We have many other fantastic stories on our channel, like this Allan Parleir gentleman in Oklahoma CIty who saved a neighborhood by saving good organic food from being thrown away every day, I mean, we LOVE this story, and after two years, how many views... 150? It is very much heartbreaking. There is no widespread passion out there for doing good. Our videos about established passions and interests, like tiny houses, or motorcycling, or permaculture... are doing much better.
California is not doing like this which is very unfortunate. California has plenty of land to provide housing. The problem is politicians do not want to build affordable and socialized housing for their residents. Why?

I don't see them as a handout but for those that really want it, a hand up to get started. I agree. There needs to be more up to date vids of these. Seeing as many are over 4 years old I'm curious to know if they are still thriving during these difficult times. Another vid I saw recently showed how tiny home communities for homeless were being destroyed by the local law enforcement. So I gotta know if any of these are still thriving and why there aren't more all accross the country as are needed.
I would be so much happier living in one of these villages than struggling to pay my living expenses right now. The stress caused by my living conditions going ever south is actually killing me slowly. I even think about suicide on most days. In my country the government will not allow anything like these villages to even begin to exist. They come in and prosecute immediately. They went round with knives slashing the tents in London after an MP said she is going to tear down tents while she gets to live on £75000 PA + Pensions and Low TAX Elements!!

Realtors are to blame for homelessness.Speculating should be outlawed and realtors should have to have degrees with ethics laws. They should not be able to sell homes to investors instead of homebuyers and should not be able to set rents or home values.
Its the banks. Realtors are doing their job selling, its the Homebuyers who get over their heads in which they can't truly afford it. Put blame where it is due, the Banks/Loans. As well as the companies who promise to help those facing forclosure. In reality its for their own pockets & not the best interest of the homeowner. These are scams that has also added to the Homelessness.
I've been jobless about a dozen times in the last 20 years. 26 years ago I bought a condo, busted my ass 363 days a year and paid off the mortgage in 2 years. now I pay utilities and taxes. I am and have been a "temp" most of my adult life. you're fooling yourself if you think anyone can live in one of these things for more than a few days, no plumbing, laundry, electricity or storage.
That's easy for you to say, try to sleep on the sidewalk, or under a bridge. I have seen many living without electricity, potable water, no place to go for the very basic human needs...
I saw a video about a man that was trying to help the homeless in Los Angeles. The video mentioned TH-cam video above clearly demonstrates the homeless situation and vulnerability that homeless women must endure. Let's suppose that we can take them off the street every evening for their own safety and/or keep them out of the cold. Our retro-fitted Budweiser truck which has 6 cubicles or pods on one side of the truck and another 6 on the other side and with a total of 12 cubicles can be retro-fitted each with its own individual bed and lighting apparatus. Also, if one wants and its possible, one can also reserve two of these cubicles to be retro-fitted with their own individual shower, sink, and toilet? Please go to TH-cam and see an example of type of 'Budweiser' truck. Water for showers can come from water tank placed outside or above the truck someplace, or same water tank can be secured in place in one of the cubicles along with an electric apparatus to warm the water for showering purposes. The electrical apparatus can receive its energy from either strategically placed solar panels and or battery from same truck. Because these cubicles are originally manufactured out of metal, they can be easily 'hosed' down for cleaning. Truck can be stationary in one location or can be mobile and be parked not far from homeless encampment. Since this is a very visual representation, financial sponsors can be prompted to financially sponsor the use of a cubicle(s) for one or many homeless individuals each evening. Sponsorship will cover the cost of fuel, water, and maintenance of the truck, trailer, and pods.

This is what they used to call a "shanty town". I think they kind of disappeared after WWII. It is not glorious or hopeful that they are coming back.

I lived in a pickup truck for 3 yrs it would be ill advised to say what and what can't be done.
