I've had this knife for about 2 years. I actually got it because I was working at a roofing supply company. We would cut rolls of rubber to size for customers by rolling it out on the pavement and using a pocket knife. The dull tipped gutting hook was so good for this job that everyone kept borrowing mine and quit bringing there own. I don't work there anymore. But I still have the knife.
I prefer the Ranger Grip 79 with the corkscrew loaded with a tortoise gear fire kit. Corkscrew is also excellent for getting knots out of bank line or paracord.
This was a good review of the Victorinox Ranger Grip 58. I prefer the Ranger Grip 78 due to this option having a saw, corkscrew and boring awl. These functions are a nearly complete camping package for me.
On a side note, the Ranger will fit a Tortoise Gear Firefly mini.I know a lot of people were having to cut their fireflys to make it fit but small one fits fine
I have a Fieldmaster, I’m planning on upgrading to this knife. The only things I use scissors for are paper and fingernails. I can live without the phillips screwdriver. Edit: The Victorinox can opener works really well as Phillips. Edit: Bought a Climber for EDC and this knife. I’m now debating if I want to carry this knife or leave it as a camping knife.

У меня 78 модель. Лезвие клинка в закрытом виде становиться не по центру. И на просвет щели между лайнерами. У вас есть такие же недостатки ? Или же только в России такие ножи с дефектами ? Спасибо, жду вашего ответа.

@@livingsurvival Understood. Great, prompt, courteous reply on your part. Now I wish my comment to which you replied was more courteous (less rude, and not making judgments based on ignorance) than it was. Sorry about that. I like the Ranger, especially the locking main blade. If I had my choice, though, I'd want something else in place of the curved blade. Thanks again. Glad to have you on my subscriptions.
@@livingsurvival Short salutary intros are fine. A fair while back you had a Christmassy-techno opening bumper that I really dug. A short outro is of heightened important due to YTs nasty habit of sometimes tacking a Ad on right at the end. An outro allows viewers to bail out of that decidedly unwanted annoyance.

The Ranger Grip 58 is the crown jewel of my Victorinox collection. My number one 'go to' for camping!

One of my favourite pocket knives for hunting or longer hikes!
Great review Ben, thanks for sharing!
I use a Ranger Grip 78 and love it.
I wish they made a model like this but without the skinning blade, it had the file. So large knife, large saw, n large file plus the openers
I have the One Handed Trekker but I’ve had my eye on this one for awhile . Interested in a follow up after deer season .

Found that out after a had to cut the regular size
I thebsame one but with the corkscrew, instead of the philip. But the corkscree is good for tight knots in rope.
Good looking knife , thanks for sharing , God bless !
What do the different numbers mean on Rangergrip knives ? 58,74, 78 etc.

It's a cool knife but I don't use it much as it doesn't have a pocketclip and no pliers so I only use it when I go hiking.
my favorite pocket knife!!
Not a bad favorite pocket knife at that. Now the big question, Can it take an aftermarket clip?
Just used the fluff out of your tumble dryer its brilliant. 🇬🇧👍
Works great as well.

My favorite. There is a version with no gut blade that has pliers instead. All you need in the south west region of the US.
Very nice! Which version has the pliers (and is it still being produced)?
@@sda4jesus1 Ranger grip 74.

Did you show the main blade?
Did you watch the video.

You forgot the wire stripper.
Is this small enough for pocket carry?
Debatable. Hanging it vertically via suspension hook would make it much more pocketable than just dumping it in.
It is, it’s a little bit thicker than a three layer. Scales are thick. Big weight difference.
Cara se não você tão caro a qui no Brasil eu compraria
Eles serão descontinuados no final do ano, se você quiser.
