A really cool detail about the Rio Olympics Seamaster is that they replaced the traditional Omega wave pattern on the dial with a representation of famous tiled sidewalk that runs along Copacabana Beach. For me, it makes the watch a lot more interesting than it would have been had they just added colours to the rotating bezel. Just wanted to point that out in case you hadn't noticed!
The bracelet was refreshed on the 2018 release. Yes same design but the links themselves got flatter. This is the design language of the Seamaster Professional. I don’t get the constant hate, if you don’t like it buy a Seamaster 300 or Planet Ocean or the million other Omega models offered.

Agreed. But they def could keep the same aesthetic and just taper the bracelet and not lose a single pice of nostalgia. But I own the blue dial and that bracelet at times does seem chunky. I wouldn't change any other aspect though it's the whole point of that watch.

Yes, the bracelet of the Paris Seamaster looks a bit datet, but it does have a QUICKRELEASE now, which is super awesome!! No more tools for changing the bracelet over to a strap! Just noticed this in the screenshots ins your video. 11:18
Loved this. Great history, great insights and very amusing “I’m as passionate about this watch as Omega is about improving it” I’ve owned 2 Omegas and sold them, liked them a lot but didn’t deeply love them. More than any other brand I’m much more a fan of vintage Omega, than modern day Omega. I prefer vintage Speedmaster and Seamaster to modern day. They’ve put a lot of focus on movements and breadth of options (dial colours, sizes) but not enough on the overall aesthetics, bracelet and overall external product design.
The bracelet definitely needs some updates. Look at the Seamaster 2254.50 as a great example of Omega putting a Speedy bracelet on a Seamaster. Makes it a much more comfortable and timeless design
I love your idea working with the technology side of things. If omega is the official timekeeper, why not incorporate some sort of connected technology so that people in the stands can be directly connected to the timer for the sport that they are watching. That would make a truly unique timepiece but then after the Olympics is over they still have a great stopwatch with a story to tell rather than just spending 3500 bucks on a digital watch
I’m with Christian - one of the Olympic offerings should be digital. It is where the technology is at. Omega could also take notes from Casio’s best on this one, either look to the MRG Square or the GMWB5000 titanium for inspiration in terms of materials and fit/finish.
White dial, gold and stainless steel? I know they have to make an Olympic release stand out from the crowd sort of. Not a huge fan of S&G sport watches right now. But I love Omega brand and some of their watches, just hmm idk.
@@mano3987 the sub changed over the years this thing is the same for over 20 years. Don’t get me wrong I love the 300M but ONLY on the rubber or milanese bracelet. The original bracelet is a rapper chain! UGLY AF!
Wow Christian you're so right. While we're at it, lets get rid of the gem on the crown of the Cartier tank, or the Roman numerals on the Santos. When do you decide you make drastic changes to an icon? The bracelet needs work for sure but I wouldn't get rid of the escape valve.
Michael, take a look at the Omega 25th Anniversary Seamaster Tantalum watch. Has a similar look but has three different types of metals. I believe it is one of the best looking Seamaster available. Love to see you do a review on this one.
I think what makes the Seamaster seem so dated is its roundness, like all the egg shaped cars of the same era, but that forstner bracelet improved it by one half grant Cardone
The laziness of Omega refusing to offer a bracelet that matches the price point is frustrating. They are already trading well 50% below retail and even at that price point there are more enticing options. You think they can do better with their rich history but I guess not.
The Bond SMP was released in 93 so whoever got it in the 80s must've had a time machine. The modern version has the new master chronometer movement and ceramic bezel but as far as I'm concerned it wears too thick compared to the original. Omega divers to get = Seamaster 300 heritage, PO, Ploprof.
Tag Heuer messed up the timing of one of the F1 GP that resulted in a wrong classification of drivers. The next year it was replaced by Rolex up to this day.
Great video guys! But you forgot to mention the new quick release system on the bracelet and the matte finish with polished waves on the ceramic dial.. which in MHO looks gorgeous, i know the bracelet could use some work and a taper, but with that moonshine gold bezel this watch looks sooo classy, elegant and sporty.. I'm loving it! 💪⌚️😃🤘
I love my Seamaster NTTD, I would not refresh that design as it is absolutely awesome. Now, for the Olympic Games we are talking pure sports hence superlative dynamics, speed, agility thus the watch should be extra light hence it should be in titanium and without heavy gold in it.
Somehow I doubt any Omega execs even know about this 144K subscriber channel lol 😂. Sorry. But I agree with Christian and I don’t like this watch. I like the all black Seamaster, but not this one.
I agree with you guys. The 300M absolutely needs to be updated. I get that it is iconic in some ways but I believe Omega can still implement many updates while keeping the original spirit of the watch.
I guess they got the color combination from Paris architecture like Arc de Triomphe and keeping the tradition alive like how France maintained its traditional architectures but I agree that they need make it fresh. Does not need to be modern as well like updating the bracelet or bezel. Good job guys. Even dials having relief engravings would be great to showcase their artistry/ precision.
That Seamaster is hideous and this is coming from a 10x owner of Seamasters. I don’t even have one left in my collection until they revise that incredibly terrible bracelet.
Not only will I not buy this watch, but I refuse to ever buy any omega watch until they dump this ugly ass bracelet from the seamaster. Do they not know EVERYONE HATES IT. They’d literally sell 5x more if they’d just make a decent looking bracelet for this.
Stop with the acid Omega that Seamaster looks very confused. Come on Omega you can do better and that goes for their marketing aswell. Zoe Kravitz seriously LOL. Love alot of vintage Omega designs but modern Omega? Nope ,they lost the cool factor they once had
