Sirrrrrr!!! You saved my life!!! You have no idea! I kept having issues with pressure so I did what you suggested by change to the dual wall. When I took out the other wall I noticed that the cleaning disk was in the filter. Once I took the disk out and used the dual wall I got PRESSSSUREEEEEEE!!! Thank you soooo much! I’ve watched so many videos within the past year and yours fixed the issue within mins. My internal grinder is set to 3 and my outside to 8.

    I did both pressure tests.
    1. with the dual wall single or double shot pressurized basket I push the double shot button and release it immediately - the pressure gauge does not record any pressure
    2. with the dual wall single or double shot pressurized basket I push the double shot button for approx 10-15 seconds and then release it - the pressure gauge records pressure
    3. with the cleaning disk using the single wall double shot basket releasing the button immediately or delaying releasing it 10-15 sec: the pressure gauge records pressure
What conclusion do I draw? Is my machine OK or not?

Great video once again! I need help! I think my Barista Express has a problem. I've just tried pulling through 4 espressos using fresh coffee beans (roasted within the last week) which I have successfully used a few times recently. This time, no liquid came through and the pressure gauge did not move. I pressed the two cup button with a cleaning disc in the portafilter, the gauge did not move. I tried again with an empty double walled one cup basket, no liquid came through and the gauge did not move. However, water does come through if there is no portafilter in the grouphead. I am not sure what the problem is. Any advice please?

Thank you for this! I was about to give up after the pressurized basket attempt, but when I tried the pressurized basket + cleaning disk, the needle shot up full pressure right when I was about to give up. Now it works fine, even when I attempted only with the pressurized basket with no cleaning disk. Very weird

No... you did the right thing by using single walled. You are supposed to use single walled. The issue to be corrected is - buy freshly Roasted beans (with Roasted date less than a week old). Then use single walled basket. The double walled is for preground coffee only. It won't bring all the espresso flavors out.

I have the opposite issue, but only with the single shot basket.
I use non pressurized baskets for both single and double shot espresso. Beans and grind settings are common for both baskets.
While using double shot basket, everything is fine, I get pressure between 12 and 1 o clock position with a beautiful shot.
But with single shot (all other settings unchanged), the pressure rises above 1 o clock and then the machine spills the water all over the place, coming out of the top of the basket and spraying the ground all around the machine. The pressure immediately drops and I get coffee grind in the cup.
If I use the double wall single shot basket, everything works fine!
Any reason why it's happening only in single shot basket and how to fix it?

My problem is when I test the machine and use the dual wall pressurized cup, instead of going to 11am on the pressure dial, it goes all the way up to the highest pressure - no water comes out. When I put coffee in this same cup, no coffee comes out. However, when I put coffee in the perforated cup, the pressure is too low and doesn’t achieve the grey area - and no crema is formed. Have you had this combination of results before? What would the issue be? Thank you!

My issue with this machine is that the ideal pressure meassurements do not match with recommended extraction times. If I get lower than 12 o'clock pressures, my extractions get a bit fast maybe a bit lower than 20 secods. For me to get almost to 30 seconds, I have to get pressure to 1 o'clock or higher.

    • @AjusCafe
      @AjusCafe  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

That numbers vary according to the beans you use. Usually for this machine, most of the beans extract well when its at 1 o clock pressure range. If you want to stop the extraction at 20 seconds just press again any extraction button. So you can manually stop.

Hi . thank you for your video. My coffee maker is a Breville model BES870XL/B unfortunately the pressure does not rise. The gauge is working. The pump worked by taking out an output pipe from it and turning it on, and it had a good output pressure. All the pipes are clean, and I cleaned them twice with special tablets. The steam works and there is no problem. I still could not find the problem. If I find it, I have the possibility to repair it. I have two guesses, one is the external stream ring and casket and the other is the solenoid valve.
In the first case, the device has no leaks at all, neither internal nor external pipes. Thank you for your advice in advance

i have a weird thing going on with my Sage Barista pro
i hadn't used it for a while and had ordered new beans and received them
I opened the bag and thought i had immediately found my right grind settings as during the pre brew infusion phase of the extraction nothing came dripping out (which used to be a good indicator for me) but weirdly enough no pressure built op on the pressure gauge. then the shot started pouring pretty nicely, extraction wasn't too slow or fast and it looked nice.
but the pressure gauge only started rising near the end of the shot and never really got to the point i expedted it to go to.

When I test using my double wall filter, the pressure goes beyond the gray range and registers very high pressure. So I was worried that the water flow is clogged somewhere inside the machine. Then I use a single wall filter without cleaning kit, there is no pressure. So I guess the water flow is not clogged inside. Is it because my double wall filter is clogged? If so how do you suggest to clean the filter to unclog? The double wall filter has been used for long time and I simply rinse it after each time I use it.
Also I saw in your video, your cleaning disk does not have a hole in the middle. Mine has a hole of needle tip size in the middle. So when I use it along with a single wall filter for testing, there is no pressure.

Every time you buy new beans you need to dial in. Assuming you are using Non-pressurized basket? Make sure the holes are not block. Change your grind size to more coarser and see. Normally it starts with Pre-Infusion in low pressure and then full extraction in 9 bar pressure. So that jump is normal.

@@AjusCafe I have the exact same problem. The first Breville Barista Express BES870 unit from Amazon I had was only getting to about 11 o'clock during the pressure test using the cleaning disc method (w/ no hole). So I called Amazon up and got a new replacement unit sent out.
The second replacement unit has arrived and I've ran the pressure test using the cleaning disc method (w/ no hole) again and the pressure gauge reading is marginally better with the gauge reaching to 12 o'clock. This is a reading which is within the 'ideal range' yet with no water coming out, this leads me to believe the pressure/pressure gauge is faulty on this unit as well.
The pressure guage doesn't get close to the max pressure you demostrated in this demo. I wonder if this is a common problem across these models.

@@AjusCafe I think the other user you are talking about is also me. I commented on the user iiitttaaalllyyy2424 in the lines below. I haven't been able to get in touch with costumer support at sage yet, but I've been watching official barista videos and I think this is the maximum pressure this machine can reach. If 9 bars is a bad thing or a good thing, I still don't know because I'm a beginner in espresso. I think only you can tell me if it is good or bad. I had an automatic coffee machine in the past. Even the new editions of the barista express models, from what I saw on the official website, were changed from 15 to 9 bars. I'm talking about the model you make videos for. So the colleague who wrote below may not have any problem with the pressure on the express model. I think that the producer should publicly clarify this problem through a video and thus avoid returns. Why don't they make a video about changing the pressure and what pressure these newer models can reach? If you can do a video with this model and the max pressure can get this machine I ll be glad to wach it.

@@geany5900 To answer your question, espresso pressure should be between 7-11 bar ideally. Some machines like BBE has 15 bar pressure. Is 9 bar good or bad? My answer is 9 bar is good and that's the number for rich, think, concentrated espresso shot and it will greatly reduce spurs related to channeling. So I will wait for you or other user to confirm this after they get a reply from Breville about Impress. Thank you.

Hey geandanborali7290, thank you all for your input and replies, and a special thanks to Aju's Cafe for making this video and replying so promptly on a 7-month-old video (you're a credit to the entire coffee community and we appreciate it).
Now on to business...I've just gotten off the phone with Breville customer support and they have assured me that all the newer models are physically limited to 9-bars of pressure max.
This means the Pressure gauge during the pressure test will only show a reading of about 11:30 (i.e just before the needle points fully vertical). As I mentioned in my earlier reply that I've had 2 of these new models and both read virtually the exact same (give or take a 1mm or 2mm). I did mention to them that they really should have made it clear in the manual or maybe even installed a new pressure gauge itself since using the old style one is very misleading and considering they haven't updated their youtube pressure test videos to explain this or demonstrate the new models newer pressure reading; how is anyone supposed to know. The support agent helping me mentioned to me they are constantly receiving calls daily for this very reason.
1st Side Note: I purchased mine from Amazon and when I was under the impression that the first machine I received was faulty they sent me out a new machine which arrived 14 hours later (I placed a call to Amazon customer support at 7 pm and the new machine showed up at 9 am the next day) absolutely incredible customer service and zero wait time on the phone.
2nd Side Note: Breville did explain that these newer models' lower 9-bar pressure limit is really the ideal pressure for coffee but also the wear on the coffee machine is considerably less and kinder to the machine's internal parts itself, especially since newcomers who tend to constantly over pressuring there machine. They still use the same 15-bar pressure pump but are limited to 9-bars.
3rd Side Note: I'm using the BBE (Breville Barista Express BES870) but these new bar pressure changes have been rolled out across other models they make as well (e.g the Impress).
So there we have folks, I hope this helps everyone who has been concerned their machine is faulty/not working correctly.
