Just an anecdotal "hear hear!" My senior dad has been suffering from back and neck pain for 20 years now. This past year, he said, "I wish I hadn't started with pain meds and gotten scared of moving with pain because then I stopped moving. Now my pain is worse, and I'm even more scared of moving." He recently took pain management classes offered by his provider, and they basically did the "all in your head" speech -a total pendulum swing from their previous approach! Thank you for sharing the good word on getting stronger and empowered in lots of ways. Sincerely, me and my foam roller 😉
Thanks for sharing! There is no consistency among medical providers, so treatment is just all over the place. It’s a mess, and much of it isn’t evidence based. Very frustrating.
When he did those squats with the dumbbells my fear of back pain went away and emidiately started working out instead of resting wow my body felt stronger than ever thanks doc
I just found your channel and I hope it can help me find some answers. I don’t suffer from low back pain, rather chronic middle back pain. It’s so miserable and makes life hard every single day

Waste of money, there are cheaper ways to do it at home, and it's low value compared to evidence based treatment like exercise, stress management, and education.
Not a lot of really good evidence, but generally many people find favorable results. That said, it’s still not a substitute for the basics: exercise to get strong, and sleep, nutrition, and stress reduction to get better recovery. We tend to get sidetracked with fancy stuff because PRP is easier than putting in the time and energy to exercise daily and eat healthy food🤷♂️
@@ShapeshiftWellness Yes, I am exercising 5-6 times a week in gym (strength and conditioning), no smoking, no alcohol, clean eating, Supplements, injections, physio therapy, spine decompression, massage - all done. It has been 4 month now since I got herniation in L4-L5 (6.5mm). I had to give up jiu jitsu for a while. I returned recently again, but after training I have pain in calf. This pain also persists when walking more than 20 minutes. I am happy and grateful I can go to gym, but I do miss BJJ a lot. Hopefully will be able to roll with no fear soon. Thank you for your advice. Your videos are great, and so helpful, I am very grateful for you sharing this information with us 🙏
This does make sense. I'm just not sure I can afford the program. Been dealing with this heavy for over a decade. Doctors and chiropractic etc. Afraid of surgery. Anxiety and panic attacks. Alcoholism. Been through it all. It's frustrating because I instinctively don't want to believe anything else.
I think you'll be shocked at how incredibly similar your story is to mine. If you're curious about how we do things, watch the masterclass where I tell me story and how I recovered. www.shapeshiftwellness.com/LBP-masterclass
Nothing wrong with this, I like the foundations training exercises. However, there's nothing special about them either. It's just one brick on the rehab road.
Hello, I appreciate the content. What are your thoughts on peptides or other compounds that have some early research about helping the body heal? I can send the papers if you have not seen them.
"Feel good" is literally physiology (pain gating, release of opioids in the spinal cord). So I agree, it has temporary physiological benefits, but those therapies do NOT create long lasting structural changes in the body.
@@ShapeshiftWellnessI agree the physical effects are temporary. However, those physical effects are therapeutic. Sometimes incremental, sometimes immediate. Exercise is also incremental in its effect. I also agree any therapy should be combined with strengthening exercises. However, to proclaim they are a “scam” implies that physical exercise is the only beneficial activity and that all other therapy is fraudulent. Is that your intent? Your channel is full of useful information about physical therapeutics. However, I’m concerned you are using some rhetoric that detracts from your otherwise excellent content.
Thanks, but I do mean it when I say scam. Let me be specific. I’m talking about old school practitioners who sell people on huge packages of outdated therapies with a narrative that somehow this single therapy is magic, and they don’t need anything else. Usually this pitch comes with a scary looking set of X-rays and they make the person feel broken. This is just one example.
It's BS. Completely out of date, these myths have been thoroughly debunked. I don't have a video specifically on PRI but watch this one on posture: th-cam.com/video/ANLlkDaWTY4/w-d-xo.html
@@ShapeshiftWellness Some of that Pri stuff is really out there and extreme but some do use some certain aspects of Pri such as the breathing and certain specific body position. Also just like everyone/gurus they say they have scientific evidence to back up what there saying so it's really hard to go through all this quote research and see what is good or not. You also mentioned in this video that your program helps most people but maybe not all so what do or would you suggest to the people that don't get relief or pain free after doing your holistic approach? Love your content by the way
@@georgehernandez8015 I seriously doubt they have any legit research to back their claims. Most of the time these guys are making up BS based on what we call "anatomical possiblism." This means they take the raw anatomy and biomechanics and extrapolate from there to from an untested/unverified hypothesis and they pretend it is hard science. For example, they might talk about mutation and counternutation of the sacrum, or pelvic tilt, which are real things. Then they assert that if the pelvis doesn't tilt correctly and symmetrically, bad things happen, and that in order to fix pain, you MUST fix the biomechanics. They never bother to research the following questions: - CAN we even "fix" biomechanics in the first place? (No.) - If we do, do these changes stick around long term? (No.) - Is there any correlation between asymmetry and pain? (Not really) - Is there potential harm to obsessing about biomechanics? (Yes, well documented kinesiophobia)
Thanks! I’d challenge you to not only define an adhesion, but then show evidence that soft tissue treatment changes it, AND that the adhesions must change in order to improve symptoms. All the research I’ve read shows no correlation.
I literally did it on my body in multiple places... Adhesions can cause pain and limit mobility (and therefore put you at an higher risk of reinjury since a non pliable muscle gets injured more easily). Eccentric exercises help, but are often not enough to remove these adhesions. Systemic enzymes also helped me, but are not enough on their own. Other treatments I tried : shockwave therapy for very strong adhesions following a quad tear, cups that use suction and that you move around to remove adhesions (on my bicipital aponeurosis). I'm very surprised you disagree with me on this topic. Ask physical therapists, people who restored muscle flexibility, people who got rid of pain by removing adhesions... About the evidence: I don't need a paper to tell me what I've seen with my eyes and I've experienced! If you think adhesions don't exist, then IDC as long as you give the treatment that fixes it and IDK what you think works other than the most common treatments to remove adhesions. Even if a study says something, what matters is how you solve your problem. Call them adhesions, call them Xgrius, call them stuck muscles - doesn't matter!@@ShapeshiftWellness
Those treatments are fine, and can be effective for a variety of outcome measures, but they don't do what you think they're doing. They provide novel pain relief and increased range of motion, but they do NOT "release" adhesions. I'm a doctor specializing in pain rehabilitation, this is my field of expertise. That said, don't take my word for it - Instead see this paper showing that in order to even produce 1% shear or compression of these tissues, it would take unreal forces (outside physiological limits) to "break" adhesions. Once again - there is an effect from these treatments, but it's NOT breaking up tissue. See this paper: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18723456/
