It is. The monofilament would need to support about 350+ lbs and also be able to retract at a reasonable speed. Maybe one day we will have a miniature actuator capable of such a feat.
The first grappling hook that Batman used in Batman and Robin was in the Gotham museum when he got inside Mr. Freeze's rocket. It's missing from this video
Haha I luv it that Bat mans grappling hook is almo$t different every time he pulls one out! LoL. We So need a real life one of these. At least in the next ten years, I'm hooping.
Haha I know it would be amazing. And thanks for the comment bro this was really interesting, (I thought of a gas made one before ahaa). Also I recon in the future we will defiantly have one that uses a type of energy to pull us up fast or something. I don't know how, but its a matter of wen. Technology grows quick. But a grappling hook the size of a mans fist is goanna take a long ass time to get MADE! They need to hurry. I want one Now hahaa. Be really awesome.
Does anyone else remember the scene in the art gallery where one side of the double edged grappling hook bounces off the tile above then continues in to the wooden door?
I think, for the sake of realism, it definitely might be worth making the grappling hook have a computer mapping program in it, that scans an area, allowing it to know how to best hook itself to an object. On occasions, the hooking distinctly looks fairly forced, as if the hooking is only occurring because a movie or show is making it so for the sake of ongoing storytelling. In Batman: The Animated Series as well, on many occasions, the wire of the grappling gun rolls around an object in fairly cartoony fashion, or the grappling gun attaches to concrete, damaging it, rather than attaching to something nearby that could not cause any damage. There can be a digital image in a glass segment concealing a computer to display the scanning device. *Edit:* To operate, Batman would have to press a button, point somewhere, and then the device will scan an area, and a second later, the grappling hook will shoot out. The grappling hook should be seen moving to show it adjusting to the right position. *Edit:* I said before that the grappling gun should have movable metal clasping features, but in order to hold someone's arm or leg to pull them, it would need an additional metal segment that slides off of the established grapple to connect with each other, to be long enough to cover the surface area of an arm or leg. There should be a few additional metal segments on the gun. *Edit:* I believe, for when Batman dangles a person using the grappling gun, there should be a soft cloth texture surrounding the grapple, so that a person isn't injured by metal pressuring their skin - Like for the guy at 0:03, for example. The cloth should be made of polyethylene fabric as it's the strongest fabric known to man, and so, is resistant to the tearing that could otherwise possibly occur when the metal grapple grasps onto buildings. The cloth should also be black as this colour suits Batman's dark aesthetic. Actually, on second thought, I think the cloth should be surrounding every part of the grapple, as it seems a lot safer and better defines Batman as a trust-worthy figure, working with the law.
Exactly it'll literally cause a person's arms to be yanked out of their arm sockets or chest I hope no one has been dumb enough to actually experiment with grappling hook guns!
I was thinking for Batman's grapple gun, his hand should be locked into a holder for when he uses it, as it seems safer and actually, more realistic. *Edit:* Also, some padding where the hand holder is would definitely be appropriate, to avoid easily produced hand pressure and slight painful discomfort.
No mate far from it like this. We have got stuff that can pull people up and shit but not as quick or accurate as batman's grappling hook or should I say hooks. the military are being retards.
Man, the grappling hook in Phantasm has such a...nice STRONG sound effect.
sonicsaiyan07 yeah damn if sounds the best out of all imo
They went overboard lol
@@CyborgSodaCollects yeah , batman is supposed to be sneaky not loud haha
@@exjester6574it’s for dramatic effect; it’s a cartoon my guy.
I like the part where Batman uses his Grappling Hook.
lol
A comment that was nine years old and a second one following being nine months old, neat.
Me too
mabel pines was right, almost everything can be solved with a grappling hook
HAHA
Andrew she was wasn't she
Andrew she was wasn't she
This video got me hooked from the first grappling scene!
HaHa pun
I never knew Batman was a... Hooker. 8D
+Carlos Spicywiener hahaha good one
So he’s bathooker?
TFS Nappa: I get it!!!
if batman's grapple gun ever got jammed he'd be soooooooo fucked.
He has a glider cape to save himself
@@joebrandon9187 And padded butt cheeks from the Schumacher films.
04:34 Did... A legit movie... Just peak it's audio?
Love them too every since I first saw 89 Batman. Became my favorite gadget for people who can’t fly to use in comics
It all started in Batman '89 too
The Noir Knight isn’t that just so cool. Burton and whoever else on the design team that came up with the concept really started something
see that thing on my belt? GRAB IT
:3
Pika Zilla ; )
Undoubtedly, the coolest one is the speargun/spring action reel version from the 1989 film.

Animated series one is better.

This needs a sequel
its probably my favorite gadget of his
the michael keaton one reminds of the one used in the arkham games
It seems that way, considering the games came 20 years after the 1989 film.

That's because he's Batman.
“See the thing on my belt? Grab it”
“No, not that!”
"-Where does he get those wonderful toys?" ^^ Nice compilation! :D
Awesome compilation video! Of course the best is from the 89 Batman. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for including Mask of the Phantasm
Gotham's architecture must be a mess of broken concrete full of grappling hook holes.
Great video, I've always loved the grapple gun.
Every boy loves batmans grappling gun lol. Used to pretend play that I had one as a kid 😂
0:17 that's the LINE lancher
Anyone notice that rocksteady got the line launcher from batman 89?
It is a pretty cool gadget
Yep rocksteady was inspired by batman 89
I watched the 1989 movie many times when I was a kid and I loved the Arkham games but never made the connection.
Thats the line launcher at 0:17 Like if you love the grapple gun and line launcher and batclaw
Where does he get those wonderful toys?
*HOLD ON*
I love how the original cowl looked dark and ugly makes it feel more grounded
I still find it uncomfy at how he can do so many stuff, but can't move his neck
They saved the best voice (Kevin conroy) for last.
Affleck batman also grapples in the doomsday battle scene
This video was released years before Batfleck
He loves them so much as to kill joker with one 😂
It's ironic that he used the grapple gun to kill the Joker in that film, then 19 years later, he used it again, but instead to SAVE him.

I love Grappling guns too :)
Me & the boys used to watch the animated Batman & play ‘Grapple Grog’. Every time Batman uses the grapple gun take a shot.
Does anyone else remember the scene in the art gallery where one side of the double edged grappling hook bounces off the tile above then continues in to the wooden door?
He used the ultra batclaw to use the line launcher thingy
Batman flying weapon 😂
6:13 Scientificly Would This Work Wouldn't His Leg Ripoff
Yeah, unless the rope is stretchy which dosen't seem like the case.
0:15 that weapon likes Line launcher from Seria of games Batman Arkham
This is on my watch later
0:05 Get over here!
I'd love myself some grappling hooks
This needs an update badly.
yes he does
He should sell them at Walmart
0:16 The line launcher!!
Not to mention he attached a rope to the batarang
I have a question the question is why does Batman needs a grappling hook she can just fly with his wings?
He can't fly, he doesn't have wings that's a cape
6:20 needs be seen
He sounded sad as hell saying that
STICK WITH WHAT WORKS !!!

Who would say that Grapple Hooks are useless! (Well Dipper maybe)
Watching this, I now understand why, in "Batman Forever" for the SNES, they kept having a loading screen that said "Hold on". lol :-D
He's basically the dude from Just Cause hahah. Magic infinite grappling hooks that defy physics
Bruce Wayne you don't need to need a long grapple 6:19
its funny how we not getting any closer to getting this sort of device, the truth is no human have so much strengh in the arms, I believe

Put in BVS.
Such a loud piece of equipment no? I think for the sneaky Batman, the sound really.. I think it should be silent
Need a upgrade with a BvS version
I want to see a Batman film we whips about as quickly as you can in Arkham Asylum the game
So batman didn't use the grapple gun nor glider in The Dark Knight Rises? I know he had the Bat but he still could have used them
Did any body else make those grapnel launcher noises while playing as a kid?
He can't fly so he uses his hooks a lot
Yep, everything in those movies is designed to look rather cartoony and goofy

I would be cool if there was all the hook scenes from batman and robin, but I understand you couldn't do a 2 hour long video
Who doesn't?
Can u add BvS scenes also?
Cool
I know this video came out while "The Dark Knight Rises" was in theaters, but...did he use his grappling hook at *all* in that movie?
Does a rope count?
Chlebakk 'Fraid not. Hehehe. "Frayed knot."
PaperbackWizard no but I bet he wud have given his right arm for one when he was down at the bottom of the pit
PaperbackWizard He used it to pull a guy in the motorcycle chase
Underused in the newer movies.
I make a grappling gun with my broken gun it is like this grappling gun
Grapple hooks are nothing but spirder web
