For those who call him Handicapped, think of it this way. Jeff could see better with his soul than all of us together with our eyes. Just listen and you'll know just how truly gifted he was.
Hi I'm a musician, became a solid blues/rock pop drummer-played many many gigs....thanks to local jams i played live with other musicians-I didnt realize Jeff such a awesome guitar player-wished i could have had the opportunity to sit in with him and played some upbeat swing blues. .....now i listen to anything i can of Jeff on you tube!!! Im Thankful to be able to see and hear his music performances on here- im sure the bands he opened for had their musicianship challenged ....to follow Jeff after he and his band tore it up!!! A terrible loss to music and humanity- a humble gentleman who lost his eyes to cancer, grew up to be one of the greatest ever to play guitar-sing- I'm in awe.....im sorry i missed out on one of his concerts-Rest In Peace Jeff Healy.
If you're ever feeling sorry for yourself and think you can't accomplish anything, just listen to this man play. Blind since he was a baby and he learns to play guitar as good as anyone before or after his time. Total inspiration and a total genius.
Tyler Hogan: Great words. I had the pleasure of seeing the maestro twice in the early 90's and although I loved his music and sound really didn't appreciate what a great talent he was. Fantastic player.
Jeff was a blind man who had more talent in his pinky than most do in our whole bodies. He could not only make his guitar talk but he had a heavenly voice to match. Before you call him "handicapped" think for a second because the only think handicapped is your opinion 👌
Jeff was one amazing man. He did not let his blindness slow him down one inch! He applied himself to what he loved in his life, music! Thank you Dear Lord for loaning us Jeff Healey 🙏
I had the chance to see him live, sadly.... i passed on the show. He played a small club in Vancouver BC (Canada). It was $20 to get in, I said..... naaaaa..... I'll see him some other time. That time didn't come.... my biggest regret.
I wish I was born earlier and have been a fan earlier. I love him so much. When I hear him play, I close my eyes to feel the music and just simply listen to him playing. He's such a great guitarist. Every sound that comes out of his playing is amazing. I will never forget him. What a talented man!
Could have easily musically been the other way around. I'm sorry Jeff was not given the cred he definitely earned.c'mon I've saw people that couldn't hold a candle to Jeff called stars. Jeff was a musical genius. Do people realize how hard it is to play with all your faculties he basically played backwards blind try that.
jeff Healy was one of the finest guitarists to ever live and I am so thankful that i had the pleasure to meet him 2 years before he died. just as fine a human being as he was a guitarist
@@andrewdog-gonewaylon5915 How did you count 319? There are 350 of them, bro. 🤦♂️😂 You do realize that his comment was years before yours.....when there was only 43 Downvotes. Just like there was only 319 when you commented and now it is more...........😂
@@andrewdog-gonewaylon5915 Not quite as amazing as not realizing that a comment, that was made 5 years earlier, was made when a video had less downvotes.......Now that is mind boggling.
+robert f I saw them in Portland, OR in 1990. Jeff opened for ZZ Top. At one point Jeff was Jaming soo hard and jumping around on stage, and his pants fell down. While not missing a beat, reached down and pulled them up. The Place came unglued. WOW..
I remember 1989(?) in Amsterdam the Netherlands, I lived in the Leidsekruisstraat the heart of the music- and theatercenter then, I watched out of my window on the first floor, on a crowded and warm evening (I think it was a Friday), suddenly I saw this same Mr. Healey, without a guitar but with a sort of "buddy", the piccolo of the American Hotel (Leidseplein), Healey held his hand on the piccolo's shoulder, they walked through the crowd. I guess they were going to cafe "Bourbon Street" 50 meters further. The same year that the hotel won the Dutch Hotel Award, Mr. Healy died. I'll always remember him walking on that street with his hotel guide, so cute
Jeff was one of the best guitarist I have ever had the pleasure to see. His eyes was in his heart and soul. He could see more than most of the great guitarist ever. When we lost him the world of music lost a lot. it was nice to have him as long as we did. RIP Jeff
Why is Jeff never mentioned in greatest guitar player surveys? Hes right up there with Page Blackmore VanHalen Clapton and all the others who get all the credit
This is the first Jeff Healey I've ever heard and I'm hooked. Utterly awesome...no other words even come close to describing his skills. Sad his talents are no longer with us (apart from recordings and youtube).
We have a younger generation. I'm a part of it. Before you judge, give your due credit to look the man up. I once hit my eye and couldn't walk straight for a day. Let alone pull this off on the nightly. Mad love
I have no idea why there are 315 thumbs down to one of the world’s best ever blues/rock guitar players. Anyone with an ounce of understanding of the genre would have an appreciation for his technical prowess and feel for the music. I can only cite ignorance as a possible explanation. And what a super tight rhythm section.
Truly amazing sound.....first time I heard him was on Roadhouse movie, true star of entire movie! Does best Blue Jean Blues version yet, gives Hendrix a run for his money.
Jeff was amazingly talented .... so sad that he never had the recognition he deserved, and left us so young. Is that Rory Gallagher's old bass player Jerry McAvoy ? sure looks like him.
This music has been following me meeeeny years. Road House with magnificent actors like Sam Elliot and Patrick Swayze, I respect them till the end of the days.
Roeland Heek Thanks for the info although sad like hell. Cancer is the chemical pest of the 21century but we only get to know about it for real the moment well known people die. (R.I.P. Jeff)
I also love the way he is playing his guitar, must research why he started this original way of bringing forth his talent. Fantastic Blues tune here. Hmmmmm to my Spirit. Another Gem shared with me, Oh how Sweet it is. ;-)

Jeff is a sad loss to us, he passed far too young, fighting that C stuff. Great musician, and had a great old times blues show on the radio, used to share his massive record collection, greatly missed, man

My girlfriend and a buddy of ours saw him at Center Stage Theater in Atlanta back in the late 80's. I actually got a photo of him, back when that was HIGHLY discouraged. Security was all over me in about 5 seconds, but I played it off, didn't get ejected, and still have that one photo.
Awesome, this world was robbed when we lost Jeff. I wish I could have seen him live. But he left an incredible legacy. Pure talent. He had a natural gift that set him high above so many . He had an ability that we do not have. Such a shame he was taken so young

Always amazes me how Jeff never lost his place when he got up and jumped around like that. The guy truely was one of the best.
