- Last night we checked into the Lord Crewe Arms in Northumberland. One of my favourite English countryside hotels. I didn't think it could get any more magical but experiencing it in the snow surpassed all my expectations. I can't recommend a visit here highly enough. Apologies for the grainy quality of parts of this episode, it has been quite dark here with the weather and the stunning interiors of this former 12th century abbey are naturally darker inside - something I relish, especially in these cosy winter months when you can huddle by the fire and enjoy the candlelight.
N.B. - We stayed at the Lord Crewe Arms on this occasion by invitation and the stay/food were complimentary. No money exchanged hands, my opinions are all my own and this will continue to be one of my absolute favourite hotels in England. The history, charm, atmosphere and character are unsurpassable. Not to mention the incredibly warm staff who make you feel instantly at home and of course, the food... headed up by new head chef Paul Johnson who worked alongside 2 Michelin Star chef Nathan Outlaw. If you're anything like me, any stay here will leave you wanting to return for more.

I love your videos so much! I'm a California Native but have always dreamed of the British Countryside and have been lucky enough to travel there several times. It is such a treat watching your family explore and especially how happy is little precious Heidi!
I always think Blanchland has an otherworldly feel to it. My daughter and I had dinner at the Lord Crewe a couple of years ago. We travelled there from a neighbouring village. Mist had come down on the road, its ethereal fingers shape shifting left and right. We half expected to see a legion of ghostly Roman soldiers marching.
Ahh I love that you’ve said that!! I often feel the same, it’s very transportative. You could easily have stepped back in time when visiting Blanchland, perhaps that’s why I love it so much. I love hearing your experience from your own time visiting 🥰 Thank you for sharing 🙏

Funny you mention that! We stopped by York on the drive back down so that’s our next video 🥰 Although, the treasurers house was closed but I want to return in spring and do a full York tour as I love it there!
We used to have a lot of snow, and very deep, once upon a time, before they started messing with the weather :-)
Never been at England before, what a wonderful history rich country, I don’t mind live in one of theses houses for ever, clean air, magical atmosphere,
So picturesque! We just got 6 inches of snow here in Maine and everything looks beautiful and snowy like that too ❤ It takes my breath away when driving backroads through the forest. I’m enjoying it while it lasts!

This was so lovely to watch - your daughter the star with her happy disposition and wonderment at what is a truly historically preserved place. So clever to keep it all going in this way and the tree in the middle. Fireplaces and sconces beautiful.
I just can't tell you what this video did for my soul!! Heidi is just almost identical in every way to my Forrest!! Seeing the snow and that lovely village !! Oh my goodness !!! Eating in the restaurant by the fireplace and Heidi getting breads and taking them to the table was precious!! The fireplace in your rooms and the gaming room in the public area was so ambient!!! The village looks like a picture!! The music added to it , also!! I'm in the USA in Alabama but I would've loved that trip !!! Thank you so much !!

Charming location! Your daughter is getting so grown up. That was quite a breakfast! I adore that brown toile headboard. I like places where you can settle into the rustic history and feel cozy, rather than at streamlined hotels where they all look the same. Oh thank you! She really is the biggest blessing in our lives! The Lord Crewe is one of my favourite places in the whole country to escape to, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Not to mention the whole Northumberland area, there’s sooo much to see and explore here, not to mention history to discover 😍

BEAUTIFUL PACE AND NOT CHANGED IN ALL THE PASSING YEARS. WE LIVED AND GREW UP IN DURHAMCITY AND WE LOVED VISITING HERE MANY TIMES . COUNTRYSIDE IS STUNNING ESPECIALLY WITH SNOW. my father especially enjoyed the area.
