32 years as a operating engineer, hazmat 1st responder and fire brigade member. I seen some firestorms. Burning structures are wild to witness, especially from inside. Your viewers might find it interesting. Thanks for sharing Kevin!
I bought my first HD last year. Started doing research to learn about the mechanics of my new toy. Come across your station and have learned so much in such detail. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I have jokingly told my wife that I would go work for you with getting paid with knowledge. Thanks again!!!
An Indestructible transmission sounds like a winner, good to see you and hope you had a great Thanksgiving yourself. Also wanted to let you know I got my calendar, thanks and hope to talk to you soon! Have a safe trip
Hey Kevin. Thanks for what you do for everyone. Awesome. With trans/primary/engine clunking issues, with the bike off, I put it in a gear and gently roll back and forth while looking and listening at different components. I don’t know that you mentioned trying this.
Recently a friend of a friend lost their house in a house fire. And he was a fireman. I think that's one of the worst things is to lose everything that you have had for a few years or in my case 45 years in one place it's usually in one place and that's where the fire happens. A real positive for all firemen and thank you for all firemen
Thank you Kevin, I think it would be Fair to say that every single person that watches your videos gets to the end of them 😂. Keep them coming absolutely some of the best information on TH-cam anyone could get & Better than Days of Our Lives!!!
I have a ultra cool fan assisted oil cooler on my 2016 street glide , With a power vision and it is unbelievable the difference from my bike and others I ride with. mine has a thermostat. like I say a real difference in pigeon forge traffic lol
Nice looking FMTV. They'll definitely make it through some rough terrain, though a bit top heavy. Push button transmission is the one thing I could never get over driving them.
I can't imagine anyone not finishing one of your videos. Interested in hearing more about the transmission. Already subscribed to your other channel. Thanks for the video, always look forward to them.
I'm looking forward to all the videos... pump truck, panel and most esp. on something that's made for a HD that's indestructible. Thanks Kevin for all you do!!!! I hope you and the family had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year!!!!!
All gearheads should be curious about all mechanical contraptions. Including fire trucks. And bulldozers, air planes, trains and etc etc etc. If not your probably using a bike as a prop. Yes, more out of the box content please. My brain is still hungry.
Kevin, I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your time, which I think is the most precious gift anyone can give. And no matter the subject matter, you deliver knowledge and wisdom that often times can't be taught. And you do it with honesty and integrity to boot, and a style that is truly your own. I don't know how you have the time to do it all but I'm thankful that you do. I subbed to the other channel and look forward to what I might see over there. Have a safe trip to Cali Sir.
you can add me to the count of damaged oil coolers. When I bought my new 21 Low Rider S. 800 miles (2 weeks) the wheel weights came off my front wheel and punctured my oil cooler. There was 1/2qt left in the motor. Oil covered the entire bike including breaks and tires. When I came up to a T intersection I had no brakes. i looked down to see oil spraying all over.
Your a one of a kind mate, I watch your TH-cam videos alot especially the twin cam as I own one. Your wealth of knowledge is much appreciated and has helped me learn more. Cheers mate from Australia 👍
I enjoy all your videos. I always learn something. I appreciate your work ethic, attention to detail and precision. I also appreciate that you're more concerned with what's best for your customers than just kicking out bikes and making money.
I’m also a firefighter EMT have been for many years. I spend my summers out west fighting wildland fires also. Started on a hot shot crew then went to a type 2 IA hand crew and now I’m on a contract type 5 engine. I’m 63 but I can’t give up the wildland gig I love too much. I did install an ultra cool with their oil filter and it made a difference on my 2014 flhtp. Thanks for the info .
Keven, I have a problem with my 23 road glide Limited. I am getting preignition knock underload under acceleration, especially when the bike gets hot. I have tried to fix it myself the bike did it from day one brand new with the factory stock tune and then after I purchased the screaming eagle tuner it continue doing it I took it to my local dealer that I purchased it from. They kept it for almost a whole month. They put on 150 miles and said the bike is supposed to do that have the preignition knock under load at highway speeds and gave me the bike back so I purchased a Dyno jet power vision tuner I installed the Maps that they have for it. Everyone also does the preignition knock no matter which map I use also, I installed a Fuel Moto tune, and I still get the preignition knock even with a modified one to help out with the knock just on a whim I decided to change the intake. To the screaming eagle aluminum one also I change the tmap sensor. Hoping that it was defective and that will cure my preignition knock which did not. I have tried several different maps both Harley and non-Harley to remedy the problem. I was thinking about replacing the camp positioning sensor, just in case. It’s sending a bad signal under load. I have no check engine lights or engine codes. The bike sounds good, but when I blip the throttle and the engines up to full operating temperature every once in a while, it will do a preignition knock there too. Besides at highway speed and I accelerate the sad thing is is my local dealer that I purchased a bike from when I was complaining to one of the sales guys. About the service department they cannot fixed the pre ignition., knock He just said trade it in take a loss and get a different bike. The bad part is the bike is under warranty, and my local dealer says they will not do anything about it because the knock is normal even that it shows up on the tuner both front and rear cylinders sometimes I will get more knocking on the rear cylinder than the front or vice versa right now. I am at a loss of what to do. They said that it is retarding the timing like normal. And the ECM is working like it’s supposed to. Have you ran into this before?
Kevin, thanks for the Q and A session. Always great to hear the answers with elaboration from your experiences. I am really interested in the transmission that you are working on and look forward to that video. Stay well and be safe.
Can't wait to see that transmission and what is on the way. Thank you for sharing information from your world it has been some great advice. Thank you for all you do.
I just start watching this so dunno the finer points. I changed the headers and put a cam and tune on my 114 road glide, it runs much cooler now according to my right leg. Thanks for the channel, always a good watch.
First, let me extend my best wishes to you and your family this holiday season. I am eagerly anticipating the results of the new transmission that you will be sharing with us. I appreciate that you never dismiss ideas or designs for being imperfect in terms of design or functionality. I've always admired your impartiality; you only support things you are genuinely passionate about because of their inherent qualities. I love that you are not a fan of any particular brand or trend; you only promote things that you truly believe in based on their intrinsic value. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Well I watch every one you put out totally, best free instruction in the world. Yes I can’t wait to hear about this new transmission. Great video as usual take care!
One of my bikes is a ''02 Dyna Super Glide. I'm One of these people that is concerned with the location of a Jagg oil cooler. On the Dyna it's directly behind the tire without the fender protecting it. I also have a '00 Road King Classic. That fender should adequately protect the cooler. As usual very informative video. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Hi Kevin, thanks much for the channel and sharing your vast knowledge. I'm not sure how else to send you questions so here is my issue: 2017 Rode Glide Ultra 107. I not sure it matters but this started just after a stage II upgrade at 60k miles with SE8-447 Torque Cam, new lifters and new (updated) oil pump. When it's about 60 degrees or colder and the bike is cold but has been in the garage at maybe 70 degrees it'll overheat and throw code P1019 after the first 2 to 5 miles. After it sets the code I can continue to ride with no issues and have been in 100+ degrees with no problems. I recently went on a 5k mi trip (early Sept. into Alberta and Saskatchewan). When I left the first morning it overheated and threw P1019. I rode 700 plus miles that day, no additional problems. Toped up the coolant reservoir the next morning, no more troubles. Stayed in hotels for the next 7 nights with the bike parked outside. No problems. Got home parked in the garage again and same problem. Since the upgrade it has probably done this about 20 times. Other than this issue bike always runs great and now has 70k miles. I can usually avoid the problem buy warming up the bike in the garage for a minute or two. I found I also need to make sure the right lower vent is closed when first going out. I'm looking at changing p/n 32700066 coolant temp sensor as it appears these are known to go bad but I can't see why this would cause the problem. I expect it's more likely 32700054 engine temp sensor. Greatly appreciate anything you can offer.
I also have the Ultra cool love it I also run the Flo oil filter with it. My bike definitely runs cooler than it used too. Great video Kevin awesome that you took the time to answer questions.
Is it possible to timesert the threads for a camplate bolt? Info on that for the threads and depth would be appreciated. I’ve used them in a spark plug location previously and it was very successful. Thanks!
Mr. Baxter, I am very interested in all that you do. Working on bikes, firefighting, woorkng on/or modifying fire equipment and indestructible transmissions. Respectfully Holise =pronounced hah liss.
Thank you for sharing so much knowledge, your videos are top notch sir. Now I'm very intrigued, for I have rebuilt my 08 FLHX cruise drive 6 speed, and I am amazed at what that little box of gears, dog rings, bearings and shafts accomplishes. It was a fun little project 4 years ago. So, your clue of California, and 6+ years of development, has my guess at a "BnB"...Hmm Baker/Baxter collaboration of said bullet proof unit... Also I really enjoy the Volunteer FD content, I volunteered for almost 30 years in my hometown here in CT. From the steward of the FH, all the way up through the ranks to 1st LT. Again thank you so much for sharing. From one old school mechanic to another, wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. Sincerely Sean Greene, Ansonia CT
Mitch is always here to absorb your information 👍 Oklahoma has been cold lately..How much is the bullet proof transmission going to set a fellow Back?? Kevin you are a great human being!!
Hi Kevin, great video. All your videos are very instructive and I deeply appreciate your constant pursuit of perfection while building engines. Thank you so much!!! To anyone reading that comment:by any chance do anyone knows if there is a way to put extra oil cooler on twin cooled '2016 road glide? Unfortunately, I live in that place where is hot and lots of traffic so I'm looking to keep the engine cool ,thanks
I fired up my 2019 after being in storage, battery was on a maintainer. It ran for a few min, then there was a miner poof out of the air filter and the bike shut down and wouldn't start again. I pulled codes and had an error of high voltage to ecm or bcm. It threw a code b2272 I cleared the codes, turnd the bike off, let it sit for 5 min, wont restart. Help!!!!!
I used VR1 in my M8 (2017 107) at the advice of Feuling techs after replacing the stock lifters with Feuling ones. That was 30,000 miles ago. I wouldn't hesitate to use VR1 again in my engine. I usually use Amsoil, but am using Castrol Power 1 20w50 100% synthetic v-twin oil for the winter. Here in Southeastern Virginia In able to pretty much ride almost year round.
I know you want to hear Kevins opinion but can't resist giving mine. I have been using VR1 for years in my 03 Dyna. It is hopped up with a 95in big bore, Mondello heads 10.5-1 comp. Wood cams etc and makes about 110 hp. My friend and mechanic suggested VR1 because of the high zinc content. I live in Hawaii and run the 50 weight in winter and 60 in summer. Motor has 76,000 hard miles and doesn't smoke, lifters are quiet and between 3000 mile oil changes I might have to had a half quart.
Like # 523 for the Flux-capacitor S&S super-glide 147ci Hemi Trans, from here in Wisco!! Super-sub @ the Mechanic level, will be in touch for a consult.. Drive on Brother!
I would like to know why my engine makes a noise that sounds like a tapped or lifter gone bad, but has been doing it since I had a 117 made out of my 04 FLHTCUI. The rear cylinder is also pulling out oil at the top.
Looking like you are getting some rest. I enjoyed the video as always. Will that transmission work on most touring models? I would like to get with you, I am able to gather up the stuff I told you about and get it up there to you. Waiting on your phone call. I would like to see more video on the fire truck and training.
Dave's Engines on utube builds diesel engines. To help with heat on the back cylinder, they open the bore .0005. Have you done or tried this with air cooled engines?
I watched a few of ur videos (I’m a new subscriber) you have a video about oil but you really didn’t say what the best filter is. I can assume amsoil is ur oil of choice. More to my question, do u use primary and trans specific oil or 20/50 in all 3 holes. Bike is a 23 road glide special 100% stock at this point. As of now it only has 500 miles, I plan to do the 1000 mile service then again 1500 later and again 2500 miles then doing all 3 holes every 5000 miles. Thanks for all ur great videos and info
Never mind. It's not the threads, there are over sizes. And yes, there is a tool. And the proper nomenclature is "sprocket shaft bearing retainer." Go play with the fire truck ☺

I’m wondering why California for the Trans as to who makes Transmissions out there. Answered a lot of my questions in this video. Thank you Kevin

Another great, informative video. Looking forward to finding out more about that indestructible transmission. Thanks for sharing and all that you do.
What type oil are you going to use in the new transmission 😅?
Excited to hear about the transmission!!! Where about in California?
Probably Caramalle @ Jims Performance
Well I watch every one you put out totally, best free instruction in the world. Yes I can’t wait to hear about this new transmission. Great video as usual take care!
My calendar came today. Fingers crossed for a new noise maker and have fun in California.
Great answers!! Can’t wait to hear more about the upcoming events in a few weeks

Hi Kevin, thanks much for the channel and sharing your vast knowledge. I'm not sure how else to send you questions so here is my issue:

Great Information!! As always, thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
Your wealth of knowledge, blows my mind.
Thanks!
I had all these same questions. That’s why I had you do the whole shabang on my bike. Guess what ?? No more questions !!😊
Not sure what kind of trans that is but I can’t wait to hear all about it and if it’ll work on a 2k night train
Mr. Baxter, I am very interested in all that you do. Working on bikes, firefighting, woorkng on/or modifying fire equipment and indestructible transmissions. Respectfully Holise =pronounced hah liss.
Thanks Kelvin for your knowledge and time stay warm up there and get to work God bless brother

Definitely want to hear about this transmission!
As a full-time firefighter, I would live to see your fire side.
Mitch is always here to absorb your information 👍 Oklahoma has been cold lately..How much is the bullet proof transmission going to set a fellow Back?? Kevin you are a great human being!!
It’ll be interesting to see this trans
Question about the time serts. Would it be possible and worth installing into the m8 heads? Especially with a high lift cam and springs.
Looking forward to hearing about the new project soon.
Looking forward to the roll out
Bw 09 can't wait for the trans info, your content is very informative. Peace.
I second that Kevin
Hi Kevin,great video.
Love the Q&A thx
I fired up my 2019 after being in storage, battery was on a maintainer.
It ran for a few min, then there was a miner poof out of the air filter and the bike shut down and wouldn't start again. I pulled codes and had an error of high voltage to ecm or bcm.
It threw a code b2272
I cleared the codes, turnd the bike off, let it sit for 5 min, wont restart.
Help!!!!!
Kevin what is your thoughts on using valvoline vr1 conventional oil in a Harley m8?

Baxter’s Day Off, where everyone has the day off …except Baxter 😐 😀
I ride down to about 35 degrees. Should I block the oil cooler to raise temps. 19 softail.
Interested in this trans and if it's gonna be available in N1
Are skunk series consultations still a thing or are they back burner until back log is caught up?
Can’t wait 😅😊
Dave's Engines on utube builds diesel engines. To help with heat on the back cylinder, they open the bore .0005. Have you done or tried this with air cooled engines?
When taking on a project, I always ask… “fast, reliable or cheap - pick two”
I watched a few of ur videos (I’m a new subscriber) you have a video about oil but you really didn’t say what the best filter is.
Why do Panhead (62FL) engine sprocket seals come in two different threads? Is there a special tool for removal and replacement?
Never mind. It's not the threads, there are over sizes. And yes, there is a tool. And the proper nomenclature is "sprocket shaft bearing retainer."
Go play with the fire truck ☺
