Crazy it’s only 1972 Stevie and he’s super innovative at only 22 years of age he blows my mind till this day with the new sound these days with funk and r&b
I was born in 1992, and this shit still gives me chills. I don't think there will even be another talent like this on this planet for the rest of time.
April 27, 2022: My boyfriend took me to see Stevie Wonder on June 15, 1972 in ABQ. (He was appearing at the UNM Arena.) Manuel was later killed in an auto accident on Aug 22, 1975 south of Santa Fe, after completing his tour with the U.S. Marine Corp. {A truly devastating time in my life.} John 3:16
British indian here. Totally smitten with Stevie's catalogue. He has the spirit of life within him - so much thought, understanding, compassion and joy. God bless you man. Love this concert to pieces. And wish I could have been around in 72 to sneak my way into this.
Stevie is beyond, OF COURSE!! BUT, would DEFINITELY want to hear more from the last 2 BACKGROUND SINGERS; VERY soulful. Should've let them go a little longer.
Just as potent now as then. Such a nice sound, I could listen to this man, so awe struck! Such beautiful arrangements, range, just wow. The man spills his soul out to us! Love the interview, he is so gracious and humble, and beautifully black. Made in America with all its struggles with race, it bore that which is Stevie Wonder. Couldn’t be a more honest child of the nation. ❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you so much for this far too rare example of his live performance!!!
Perfect video for Stevie's 70th birthday. I was 21 in 1972. Got to see Stevie open up for the Stones at Winterland in early June of that great year. What an artist. Thanks so much Black Soul Group for posting this masterpiece.
Must be at least the third time posting this, but they can't stop the signal: Wonderlove on the *Soul!* TV show, WNET, New York, 19 November 1972 - released on DVD as *My Voice of Sorrow*. And that is Ray Parker Jr. of "Ghostbusters" fame on lead guitar behind Stevie with the red guitar. This show was broadcast on Soul! on December 20, 1972. The album "Music of my Mind" had been released the previous March and "Talking Book" had just come out in December. During that summer Stevie Wonder toured with the Rolling Stones. This performance captures Stevie at the end of his breakout year, 1972.
@@victorleggett Thanks for the note. I see I was slightly off on my dates: Talking Book was released on October 28, 1972, not December. What an amazing year for Stevie Wonder - two great albums 7 months apart!
And the fact that he went from that fantastic year to an even better album in 73, survived a car crash that put him in a coma, and came back swinging with arguably his two best albums in 75 and 76 is just a testament to how much of a genius this man is. Shame things started to die down after, but can you blame the man after unleashing such an unmatched stream of creativity and genius for 5 years straight?
@@aidanb4477 You make a good case. But since you used the word "arguably," I will take you up on your kind offer to argue. I'm one of those who thinks "Songs in the Key of Life" is overrated and should not have been a double album. In terms of quality of singing and dynamic three-dimensional sound, "Talking Book" is the pinnacle. The subsequent albums are increasingly slicker and less personal. But we can argue about that.
He can sing anything and he can improvise in a fantastic way. Just listen to the intro of My cherie amour, sung in my language (Italian), or to Dylan's Blowing in the wind, a rendering which really blew my mind. And think he were only 22 at the time!
Stevie is deep and soulful, like his music 🎵 is and always was. He has given us everything he can and I appreciate and love his great spirit. He is multi-generational and generally universal. He is a great representative for our species to the universe.
once i heard this i lost the track of this video i finnally found it i love this pice of what?of an art of pure rythm and happyness thank u Stevie ps the choior is delightfull
I remember this was meant to be released on DVD in around 2007 but there was a licencing problem and they were recalled from merchants the very day it was meant to be released.
Check out Questlove Supreme Podcast.... the Ray Parker Jr. episode on Pandora. Hes got a couple of stories to tell and gives you the inside truth behind Stevie's accident
Probably so but truthfully for me the music, ambiance, the analog 60s 70s look take me to that time. Really don't want to bring that moment to our time... Something will get lost...
Horrible sound system can't stop him so all of us need to stop bitchn just do better. Cause he's rocking 😎 it its all distorted he just comes at it harder all us live players need to just do better like he is talk about a professional Jesus! I love ❤ that man so much! such a good role model look at him seriously man !
And to show the teachers that black people aren’t criminals and thugs. Which the teachers perpetuate. Let me tell you something. I grew up in an affluent area but the black people lived across town. Never mind this story is too long.

Truly a gift from God.

He’s 22 in this video. Let that sink in for a minute. What a gift he is. ✨🙏🏽
Powerful
I totally agree 💯😍

Stevie was born in 1950. He was only 22 years old in 1972. Stay right there....
You are a Artist ❤❤❤❤
This should be shown in every music class and African American History class.
Every music class.
Agreed...agreed
DSMOKE & STEVIE💯GOODNIGHT
It should just be shown to every person on their 16th birthday (and earlier, if the child can really appreciate great music)
1972 was one of Stevie's best years, because he released even two great albums: 'Music Of My Mind' and 'Talking Book'.
And released just seven months apart -- March 1972 to October 1972.
@@reichensperger1847 awesome!
The best ever ever ever !!! Stevie was the whole package all and all, he did it all to a perfection unmatched!!

Nobody compares to this man musically
Stevie is just a pure musician.. man his soul aspect to his music is strait from his own soul. You can’t hardly classify the great ones like him!!
Love watching him play the Rhodes on what’s going on
This is yet another confirmation that Mr. Wonder is a Technology.

ANNNNNND ROGER TROUTMAN 🤯 !!!!!!!
Stevie afro is tight just beautiful 💯❤
I rightfully respect all past GREAT musicians /artist / singers but the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES... Stevie Wonder! (drop the mic and levetate off stage)
Stevie dwarfs two other powerhouses in Prince and D'Angelo. And his heart and life force is unmatched wow.
You can make the agurment he's the greatest musician in modern music history
at this time there wasnt anyone who could touch Stevie Wonder,,,
still isn’t

Haven’t found anyone yet. 2023 and counting!
Coldblooded intro to Superwoman! They are so free and you can tell they are getting a vibe back from the audience so it's a feedback loop.
Should be shown in elementary classes to show children love via music.

Unbelievable given how utterly incredible he was that year that he was supporting the Stones who were already old hat.
That transition from Superstition to Maybe Your Baby back to Superstition was pure genius
So sick!!!

breaks my heart when people complain he hasn't made any new music for so long. Look what he ALREADY gave us 🥰😮
It’s incredible. Particularly love from 31mins where he goes into “love having you around”. He’s a total genius
