Not even done watching Regis's first match, but I ALREADY have to say...I ✨love✨ how the gameplay creates an actual NARRATIVE. Like... The Westview hex was revealed to have been at the Wakandan Embassy, but then Magik showed up and eeeeevery character in the game gets effected by additional turn Limbo shenanigans. Meanwhile, as sort of a B-plot story, Doctor Octopus arrived at the Throne, hoping to face a weaker opponent, but wound up outmatched.
I've never thought of looking at games like this, pretty cool
@@osha737 I'd say that MOST games with a PvP focus don't provide that experience. Even PvE content can be lacking in that department, depending on the game. However, if done right, elements (such as setting/locations and characters), particularly if they have VERY dynamic (memorable, and/or gameplay-impacting) nature of a game can facilitate a muuuuch deeper player experience.
(It's fair to say that, if one chooses to call my explanation a quick (but interestingly deep?) analysis of gameplay mechanics, then it's pretty much a CERTAINTY that I picked up/developed the ability/insight necessary to do so thanks to YEARS of watching (and rewatching) Extra Credits (game design, analysis, balancing, and other aspects of game creation) videos. 😛 😅)

Yeah it takes like 3 months of grinding everyday with a squirrel deck which is insane. You can’t even really pay to skip it either.
sorry if it a dumb question but what is pool 3 to 2 and 1 it i t like the 1st 100 cards in the rewords then pool 2 would be the next 100 ?

@@JoshCowlard Matchmaking takes into account collection level so you shouldn’t be matched against beta players
I think there's missions to upgrade your cards, so you should theoretically wait for those missions before you upgrade anything..? Idk, I didn't do it that way
I think the whole idea is that you swap the cards at the same time you progress the ladder.
Im loving the snap content. I was sad when you stopped posting them, but now that the game is out and you are putting content out its all good again 👌

They really need to change progression. The game is both very F2P and insanely expensive. There are things I want to try out, but Im missing a card and have no date in sight for when I can even play with it
I fully understand the frustration, we’ve all been there but it just takes time. While the grind can be frustrating keep in mind that if you do your dailies every day you can get a full collection in 4 months or so as a ftp player. It might seem like a long time but compared to other games it’s quite a good deal imo. Try focusing on what u have , there are many viable decks and strategies
I've been having fun with this game. The quick matches makes it easy to play while on break at work. Plus the business model doesn't make me feel like I'm screwed for not dropping $100+ on card packs.
Regis, I know hearthstone is your bread n butter but it would be nice if you add once a week a different game. Your take is valuable.

I really like the game, but it is frustrating to not be able to play with the same cards as regis does. Or to put it in terms of hearthstone: it kind of feels like they are playing standard and and someone who just started playing marvel snap has to play classic. Also I would really like to hear Regis‘ thoughts on progression, pool system and matchmaking in the game. I am only a few cards short from completing pool 1 and i do consider not upgrading my cards any further to not have to face opponents with stronger cards so i can still rank up within the “pool1-meta”. How unreasonable is that?
There are so many cards that look amazing, but it's too random.
Once you enter pool 2 you will only face people with pool 2 so you'll be facing people who are unlocking cards also in pool 2. It may seem like you're getting people with better cards then you but almost all the cards in this game are viable in their pools.
Yeah it's actually insane how different the game is, I didn't even realize there were this many cards in the game, I feel like I'm playing rock paper scissors while people are out there playing chess
I've seen someone use this deck before. Seeing red skull being a 15 power card to a 5 cost 3 power card was hilarious. I hated valkyrie when I first got her but now I love her.

Honestly, I kind of like the card progression. A little bit of delayed gratification. Also, we know everyone would just be net-decking immediately if they could get all the cards on a whim. Now they at least have to wait and make due with what they have for awhile.
I've made a Nick fury dinosaur deck it's pretty strong.

really enjoying snap so far. Do you happen to know if lower quality cards are more likely to get boosters after a match? I noticed that my only green card in a deck is getting significantly more boosters than the others (mostly blue, couple purple). Including the boosters spent upgrading them, the other cards average out to 61 boosters earned (highest 81), while the green has 105. I also don't use the green in any other deck, while many of the others I've used in almost every deck. I'm just one person with less than a week of experience, so it could just be a freaky coincidence with strange RNG, but it seemed weird enough to check if anyone else has noticed something similar.

Had a ton of fun with this deck. I did swap out Sabretooth for Adam Zola after a little testing. I prefer the extra end game options Zola gives.

I would have less problem with the progression if credits didnt become so rare so quick and you can't progress at a normal rate and you would have to spend money

the problem with the ideology that they want everyone to feel like they have a unique collection is the internet exists and people will be constantly optimizing decks and strageties and sharing them. So instead of people being happy with the cards they have they'll know there are stronger alternatives out there with a full collection. People love to play meta decks, thats just how it be. I thought the collection system was fun in the early stages but it slows down way too much once the caches get introduced.

Blows my mind beta players were able to keep all their cards and levels. What game does this? It’s such an unfair advantage it’s egregious.

I love snap but I HATE the card progression. So many decks I can’t do just because of RNG with no reasonable way to get what I’m missing besides grinding out, and spending money to get gold to then turn into credits to upgrade faster.
