I have ordered woven labels that say “Made by Grandma”, and I put them into all the clothes I make for my grandchildren. Not only do the labels serve to identify front and back, it’s like I added my signature. I take pride in what I make, and they get joy in wearing Grandma’s clothes! Like you say, win, win!

What I would give to see “Made by Grandma”on anything again!!! Your handmade gifts will bless hearts forever❤️ In sad moments I remember their giving and their love because it took my breath away. Loving acts never die, they just keep giving in memories.

I always called my children “handmade and “perfectly imperfect”. The latter, because being perfect is an unattainable goal and not required. Having good skills in apologizing, essential ❤️❤️❤️

I couldn't agree more about asking the recipient what they would like for Christmas. All too often people just buy something, wrap it, throw a bow on it and shove it under the tree without considering if the gift will bring joy to the receiver. I can't tell you how many gifts I've gotten that have made me scratch my head afterward and then re-gift it or save it for a white elephant gift exchange at work the following year. I taught my kids from a tender age to find out what the recipients likes, hobbies, interests, etc. and buy a gift to compliment those interests that they will appreciate and use. I used to play tennis a lot, so I always asked for a can of tennis balls, which were very affordable and I always wanted and needed. I love that you made little girls clothing with Disney fabric and colorful unicorn fabric made sparkly sleeves. Perfect!!! A very practical and fun gift. I have friends who love to sew, so I buy them sewing machine needles and such for their hobby. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Alisa! 🎄🎅🏻

I have made Christmas gifts for the last handful of years, and I really like it. It just feels good to actually put thought and effort into a gift instead of giving a gift card. Usually I give edible gifts, this year I made quilts (I don't have many people to get gifts for)

Hi Alisa. I have been sewing since I was about 12 and I am in my mid 60's now. When I make children's clothing, I sew a loop of ribbon in the back so everyone knows where the back is. Love your upcycle ideas so much! I am from Upstate NY but dream of living in sunny Florida. Someday maybe...

Years ago I bought Christmas fabric on sale and sewed a lot of very simple gift bags. We use them every year for wrapping the family's gifts and a set makes a great gift for others who want to be more sustainable.

Hello Alisa 😊. You have hit some really important points here. Something usable is key. I really like your idea of consumables. I made some drawstring gift bags this year to put in a jar of jam and homemade soap and produce bags. When you go shopping where I live you have to bring your own shopping bags. Single use plastic bags are no longer available. The produce bags have strawberries on them, peaches and lemons on them in three sizes.

I always do handmade gifts for my grandchildren and family, it's more personal and they all really enjoy it. I made them all Santa sacks when they were born that are used every Christmas. One year I wasn't able to sew and they were all disappointed that the gifts were not handmade that year. I think your videos are awesome, and I feel exactly the same way about making things personal and useful. Have a wonderful Christmas and I'm looking forward to more tutorials in the new year. 🤗🤗☺☺

We love Bluey!!! I made my husband a stumpfest birthday cake with bandit on the top "it was the 80s" (we're millenials) and i slow clap when he comes home and says "dad has entered the room"
Im going to have to add bluey to a bunch of stuff now lol

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Omg... My husband says "it's Daaaaaaaad!!!" All.THE.TIME 😂 we love Bluey! Especially the "pass the parcel" episode and the one about the stumpfest. I need to keep the "stumpfest cake" idea for the next celebration, such a cool thing! One of the ideas I had was to put Bandit's outline in vinyl on a t-shirt and then little one color it in with fabric markers.

I really love your video's and idea's ive been watching your channel for about a year now. You have so many helpful tips and tricks for a beginner like me. Last I borrowed my mother-in-laws sewing machine and made T-shirt quits for all 3 of my kids. This year made a pocket pillow for my son that matches the color of his dog that past away in August and I used his collar for the handle at the top. I made a circle skirt and i am in the process of making the brush holder for my middle daughter. And for my youngest daughter ( who is 3) I decided to make a costume of her favorite character Bo Peep from Toy Story 4. I made a circle skirt that is double sided for the skirt/cape and for the rest of the outfit i am altering some of her old clothes ( adding ruffles and what-not). These projects are being made out of leftover fabric i had, some mismatched sheets and some other fabric my mother gave me. It's coming together nicely and I can't thank you enough for sharing all of your ideas.

What a beautiful bomber jacket Alisa 😍 And wow, you’ve been busy making so many thoughtful gifts. Good advice at the end, to ensure the intended gift is something a friend or family member is what they’d actually use and like. It’s so easy to go overboard and make for the sake of making. 😅

    - I suck at whrapping gifts, therefore I use beautiful paper bags. No struggle for me and no waste, people can use them again for their gifts.
    - Lavender is also great for keeping spiders and other bugs away. Also you can put it next to your bed and it helps you relax and fall asleep.
    - This year my handmade gifts will be pasta, beewax cloths and kitchen aprons.

(p.s. there might be smth sewing label/tag related coming up in January). You can also make your own and order a fat quarter from Spoonflower and cut it apart.

Jan, hello there! Yes... no sense of overdoing something if it is simply not needed... Love that it resonated with you! :) for the Disney jacket - I drafted it myself. I have at leats 3 raglan sleeve tutorials on my channel, you can use those, then add a tiny bit of extra ease as this is an outer layer and then I also have a good tutorial on easy lining (if needed) and how to install a zipper in a jacket like this - and you will be set :)
