Super Cool info on those mushrooms! I remember reading something about psychedelic mushrooms being useful for some things, but agree that finding and eating any mushroom in the wild without identification 110% is a bad idea. When I lived in Port Townsend, Washington, I found mushrooms that looked like the honey type and they had a sweet smell, but I couldn’t be 110% sure, so I didn’t eat them. I hope that you find honey mushrooms. That would be so cool!
I'm still on the hunt! I pass by a bunch every fall that are likely them. If I can get someone to show me in person I would have the confidence I think.
Great video! I really enjoyed this on multiple levels. I agree with your ID, definitely looks like Gymnopilus junonius. Pretty rare here in Indiana. I tend to find more Gymnopilus luteus here in the fall. I could be that as that is more prevalent in the fall whereas Lauging Gym is more common in spring but also comes out in fall...not an easy ID. Weird that you got taken down, I smell mushrooms all the time and taste them on occasion and have never experienced this...good to know. Amazing comb tooth log! Appreciate your words of caution and emphasis on getting to know your poisonous mushrooms also. I have discussed honey mushrooms in my recent "fall colors" and "thanksgiving" videos (Armillaria gallica) and have others on Armillaria tabescens and mellea if you want to better familiarize yourself. 🍄
Thanks! I checked out a few of your videos today, you're knowledgeable about the fungi. I'm going to keep watching, I like how you're laying the videos out. If I was a little closer I would be bugging you to go hunting and show me some things. I think the reason my video got pulled is because I used the word psychedelic in the title and then appeared to eat the mushroom. I feel like the censorship surrounding psychoactive mushrooms and cannabis is outdated but I know that's how it is at the moment. Thanks for hanging out and love your channel!
Yeah, it was pretty exciting when I started down the check list in the field guide. I still would like a mycologist or someone with knowledge of the mushroom to give me a definitive ID on these things. I think fungus is the coolest Kingdom of them all.
Those cuts in the video where you mentioned TH-cam were funny. I'm like you, if I'm not 100% sure what I'm harvesting is what I'm after, I won't eat it. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Exactly, better safe than sorry. I would really like to have someone who knows there stuff show me one on one the real honey mushroom so I could confidently harvest them. I'm pretty sure I pass up many, many pounds of honey's every year because of the uncertainty.
Oh yeah, you too? I'd like to hear about that one day. I totally get what happened here when I went back to look. I never ingested the thing but I did hold it right up to my nose and take a huge sniff so it probably looks like I stuck it in my mouth to an AI software. It would be obvious to you or me or any other human that I didn't but it is what it is. I'm cool with it.
No stinging nettle or mugwort for you sir! That aggravates me, my deal was a misunderstanding but in your case I think that is probably straight up censorship. We don't want anyone learning about those natural medicines now do we?
"The Complete mushroom Hunter" is a book that I have that talks about it in more detail but what I really want is a real person expert to show me some of the different mushrooms. The spore prints are like works of art!
Fun find regardless! Psychedelic mushrooms are one of natures greatest gifts wehen used medicinally. John Hopkins is at the forefront of this research and their findings regarding curing addictions, PTSD, etc. Are astounding.
Excellent video. Saw it yesterday too. I thought something happened
Thanks! Yeah, I was surprised but at the same time I was a little hesitant to put this up even though it was with good intentions.
@paxtianodirtfrog8947 Yeah, I understand 👍

@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 Cool, thanks! Glad to hear it and glad you took the time to repost and share this video.
Looks like a fun adventure trying to identify these. Interesting practice of the identification process 👍🤙

Interesting about smelling the mushroom. I got really weird community strike before too
I did too. I was just showing Mugwort and Stinging Nettles.
@theunclejezusshow8260 man, Stinging Nettle is an alltime favorite of mine.

What would be a good additional reference material? Interesting about the spore print!

Agreed! Suitable for framing!

Definitely a lot of cool research going out there and I think there's amazing potential. Thanks for hanging out!
Wow I love mushrooms ❤
I never get tired of them! Most of the ones I harvest grow in the winter here so mushroom hunting is my winter thing. Thanks for watching!
Very good disclaimer. I don't condone psychedelics either. Mushrooms sure are interesting
Yep, I agree! I think we probably don't know the half of it about fungi has to offer us yet.
my mans out here sniffing mushrooms and getting the boot off youtube 🤣🤣🤣
"I done warned you boys about snortin them damn shrooms!" screamed old man YT as he waved his walking stick wildly about in the air.
