I would like to see a miso video with those mushrooms. Supercool that you grew and got to taste a new mushroom! When I see you growing them, I always want to get started on a few logs of my own. Maybe someday!
Always have to try something new! This was pretty cool to see. I hope you get to try something , its pretty exciting to see that first flush. I'm gonna do a miso video and probably do another inoculation video. Happy mushrooming!
Garlic, salt, and pepper are my favorite three seasonings. I've been looking at ordering Chestnut Mushroom spawn to inoculate some logs. Dropped a lot of oak recently, and Chestnuts are one of the few that'll do good on oak. Thanks much for this video, you did a REALLY GOOD job on this video!
Hey Papa! Hurry up and get it ordered and get it i your logs. This has been cool even though they're not producing big yields like my shiitakes will sometimes. I'm fascinated with them. Best of luck with it, get some of the peppers to help, it'll be fun. Thanks for the compliment, I've been having a lot of fun editing lately so I'm glad you got some use out of it. I haven't been over and checked yall out in a minute, been behind on my on TH-cam watching, but I got to check in soon. Happy growing Papa!
Happy new year, definitely noticing the work you are putting in on editing and video creation, looking good. Mushrooms and food are looking good as well cheers and peace and positivity to everyone.
Hey Metal! Happy New Year and thank you! I'm glad you liked it, I'm trying to make them fun to watch and hopefully share some knowledge that helps someone. Miso is on it's way, have a great week!
Great video! That's a lot of chestnut logs. Miso soup is a winter staple for me for sure...usually start with bok choy, onions, carrots, and lots of dehydrated mushrooms and then add other good stuff like udon noodles, salad shrimp, szechuan pepper corns, dried chilis, enoki mushrooms (the skinny store bought ones) and kamaboko fish cake.
Ah man, you're talking next level! You'll have to show us one day. Mine will be pretty simple and I'm pretty sure I'm not making the Miso nearly what it could be. Mushrooms are what got me to trying it though so I love it! Thanks for hanging out, have you grown these yet or do they grow wild there in Indiana?
@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 Yeh, I started out trying to recreate nabeyaki udon soup which is my favorite thing to get at a japanese restaurant when its cold outside..it is a fairly fancy soup.. Now I just kinda wing it with different broths and ingredients. My understanding is that edible Pholiota adiposa mushrooms only grow in Europe, whereas Pholiota adiposa "group" type mushrooms grow in the eastern united states but are not edible. I find only golden pholiota and scalycaps in my woods. I have not grown chestnut mushrooms but would like to in the future.
@@MushroomJourneys-et9gk Interesting, yeah i feel like I need to go down the Japanese Soup rabbit hole in order to get the most out of my mushroom hunting. Also interesting on the Pholiota's, thanks for the info!
Those really look good. I usually remove stems when cooking mushrooms, perhaps I should try leaving them on. I would like to see a video using the miso!
I take the stems off my shiitakes and sometimes even the store bought portabellas. But these were jam up. I have the footage for the Miso and trying to put the video put together. Let me know how leaving the stems on work for you!
