    There’s a very clear reason to run Kahls with warriors… because you have small squads of hearthkyn all being led by ECs but you still want to hand out a judgement token. You need them on the board, they’ll have the best use of the 5++ if the enemy wants to waste firepower trying to take out his unit then the rest of your army is getting it done!

      I would definitely be inclined to run the Kahl if I could hand out the token without line of sight, would be very compelling!

      My clear reason is I only have the combat patrol and Sagitaur so no hearthguard for me🤣

    Would there be any changes to recommendations for those playing combat patrol/500 points and running the Kahl with the warriors? Possibly even choosing to play as Uthar instead of Kahl?

    Should have still included a short addendum for warriors, I bet many beginners have loads of those from their combat patrols and killteams while still not having einhyr guard units

    Just finished my first Kahl, I think he will find a place in my army, though he may find himself solo. Great info, as always.

    Would love to see battle reports or tactics videos on this channel in the future. Not enough Urist content on youtube. I love the new data isolation to show the direct +/- after the initial discussion. And the new thicker border outlines are perfect for visibility!

    The way I use a Kahl is that I attach it to a 10 warrior unit with Rampart Crest and set the Kahl up as high as he can go for visibility but allow the warriors to remain within range of the home objective marker. The warrior sticky the objective marker and allows the Kahl to marker targets at a distance in the command phase. The Warriors with the invulnerable save help keep the Kahl on the table longer as he is in a clearly visible spot.
    Since Wargear doesn’t have point’s anymore, I just take the gauntlet for protecting my deployment zone and the twin bolt for a bit of ranged shooting since he won’t be on the front lines.
    Any other benefits he provides doesn’t really make a difference to me. He’s just there for marking tokens and holding on to Appraising Glare.
    Other enhancements I slap on my Einhyr Champions. As they will need them on the front lines. Grim Demeanor if leading a unit or Wayfarer’s Grace if solo. A Long List is usually an auto include on Einhyr Champions with a Hammer.

    I have been trying out a list with triple Kahl in warriors with teleport crests and sagitaurs to break the warriors up into deep strike chunks. Is it very good? Lord no. But it's a lot of fun combined with hearthguard to beam down your entire army turn 2.
    Memes aside, I really like the Kahl but I think he needs a better unit to slot into (if we could get a medium infantry unit with a high volume of fire that'd be great, GW). Sticking him with warriors is mid at best, and the echamp helps the hearthguard out more for 10 less points. All you'd be missing is the ability to hand out more tokens, which while nice, is not especially necessary in our current detachment. I also really miss the old relics which could make the axe or bolter legit, but I doubt even after we get more detachments we're going to see cool upgrades for them. I do get the feeling he'll become a better pick once we get detachments that aren't Oathband as judgement token generation will be more important. But I guess we'll have to see!

    3:15 well I’ve heard people genuinely say that it made no sense for enemies on objectives to get tokens back in 9th when they “weren’t doing anything” or “couldn’t be seen”. So I guess a lot of people just miss the point of threat assessment from high tech space armies. Lol.

    I'm a bit dissapointed with with his damage output. And I have bad experience with Grim Efficiency all in all I want to like this character, but the more I play with it the more I want to just have a charge reroll and some mortal wounds before combat than what Khal provides.
    My main concern is Grim Efficiency and LOS requirement for it. Without it it could be fun ability to regain some edge because of BS 4+ on most units.

      I completely agree. I wish the line of sight requirement was removed as it would allow for much more play and versatility. Potent combos too!

    I’ve been toying with the idea of running 10 man warriors with Kahls in 3 land forts, just trying to be annoying to chew through. The 5++ is actually relevant in warriors and the lethal hits would potentially let them actually chew through some other chaff.
    It’s definitely not a meta idea but I wonder if it might actually perform ok.

    In général i'm pretty dissapointed by the buffs provided by caracters whych are not rerolls or -1 to hit or the like. The odd chance to pump uo damage has been pretty insignificant in my games. Due to this, i tend to pretty much only care about raw power of datasheets and abilities. Likewise with dev wounds or sustained hits on weapons

      Yup! Ignores all modifiers so no half damage 🙂

      Funnily enough, it does. my last game against Necron I took out the Dragon with my Einhyr Champ on a charge/ Hammer Bonk.

      ​@@VotannVersus40K I mentioned this to my group and they said it doesn't apply to any changes to weapon characteristics, so hit/wound/ap/damage would still be effected. They cited a world championship FAQ -
      "Q: Some units (Mortarion, Trajann Valoris, Grey Knights Grand Masters, Leagues of Votann models with the Grim Demeanour Enhancement, etc.) have abilities that allow certain models/units to ignore modifiers to their characteristics. Do such abilities allow them to ignore modifiers to the characteristics of weapons equipped by those models/units as well?
      A: No."

    I'll tell you the secret.
    Put him in a hearthkyn squad. Give the squad 2 kin melee and the theyn kin melee. Give the kahl teleport crest.
    Split the squad with all kin melee with the kahl and put them in deepstrike. Put the rest of the kyn in a sagitaur.
    Use appraising glare and rapid ingress to have them assault a lightly guarded objective with on token. Pop warrior pride.
    95,3% chance of killing 3+ intercessors which brings them to 4 OC if it's a five man squad meaning you just stole the objective from them.

      9 inches charge from deep strike was never ez pzy in warhaamer, nor an accountable straregy. But it sounds really fun though
