Having spent decades thinking Horowitz's rendition of this masterpiece to be untouchable, you have brought your beautiful, heartrendingly expressive artistry to bear new fruit. Thank you, Valentina.
Piano speaks a universal language when your fingers caress its keys...thank you for bringing Classicals fully alive the world with your depth and color in interpretive expression of so many wonderful composers...Liszt is my favorite!
We support Valentina because she supports us in so many ways, showing us the depths and heights to which an artist can achieve and communicate the vast and limitless World that we find in music and imagination, fully realized by an artist who is so generous and so deserving that we are truly grateful to be sharing the planet with her at this moment in time!
So lucky I once met you by chance on the internet several years ago. Thank you very much Valentina for your art you are gently sharing with all of us. Thank you very much indeed.
Sencillamente brillante.
Remember, all these "gifts" the Valentina is just giving us for what seems like it's free, it's a lifetime of hard work so click that link on "support this channel"! Come on people, she might be a slave to the music but not to us!
I thought that this Wagner piece could only be heard with all its emotion, when it was performed by a symphony orchestra. However, now Lizt and Lisitsa show us the full scope of the piano.
VAL is indeed one of the foremost keyboard MASTERS of our time; but a piano cannot do justice to Richard Wagner's immortal Prelude-Love/Death From Tristan & Isolde, a portion of which Liszt paraphrased. I'd recommend, Juan, that you listen to the FULL ORCHESTRAL version of this music--it's so beautiful and so wonderful that it will shred your soul. It often brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. Do this, my friend. You'll not be disappointed.
Thanks so much for this treasure. It was one of the first pieces I listened to (quite by accident) on a Horowitz CD I bought ages ago. You are magnificent here, as always, snd it's my absolute joy to watch you play.
Thankyou SO much! I am SO greatful for you bringing me into the world of classical music, now I am obbsessed and have taken up piano and Violin And love it! Your playing is absolutely divine! :)
It's always a pleasure seeing a new video from you Val. Have you ever thought about composing your own music? If so which composer would inspire you the most to channel your own creativity. I can only imagine what you would come up with, and I would be the first to buy your sheet music so I can learn how to play it myself.
Mrs Lisitsa I cant thank you enough for being SUCH an inspiration for me .... I beg you to keep on doing you passionate profession and I wish you all of the best luck my dear !!!! :)
I have been quite fond of this movement lately, and am embarrassed to admit I was unaware of Liszt's transcription for piano until today. Thank you dearly, Lisitsa. I will be learning this in the near future thanks to you. I would love to hear you play Stanchinsky's 1907 nocturne.
Dear Ms. Lisitsa, I am a HUGE fan of yours, and, like many, it would be a dream come true and a privilidge to listen to you live. Is there any chance of you coming to Greece? With warm regards from Athens, Angelos
Unbelievable. I agree with another commentator below: he would not believe that Horrowitz's interpretation could be topped. But this one in marvellous, in all beautiful extremes. And because it lasts 1 minute longer, it is 1 minute more pleasure. Fantastic!
Valentina! You are an inspiration for me. I play the piano too and you are my reference!!!! Thank you for another great performance. God bless you and your hands too. Those are the sincere wishes for a big fan from Brazil. Muito Obrigado!!! (PS: sorry if I wrote something wrong!)
I big fan ValentinaLisitsa . Never listened to this peace before. Beautiful. Makes me feel like i am spending time with our Creator Himself. Righteous sounds abound lol!!!
Every time I think to this piece, the only words I can use is depletion, exhaustion, the burn out of a soul: at 6:14 the violent blaze, at 7:40 the dissolution of the last gleams. Ms. Lisitsa your picture reminded me "Nature" a picture of the painter Léon Frédéric.
So splendid, Valentina. Do you take requests? Love to hear you play Harmonies du Soir and Benediction de Dieu dans la Solitude, both - of course - by Liszt.
What exercises do you do besides Hanon? I wish I could get my students to move their thumbs correctly. It seems that's the most difficult finger to train.
ValentinaLisitsa The thumb probably is the most important finger in playing. It's interesting to see how everyone's hand react s so differently while playing. I notice students that are double jointed have the hardest time striking the notes evenly. I had one student years ago that could not even play the notes at all because of this. Lots of fumbling.
+ValentinaLisitsa no I mean the Etudes on the 19.05. In the kammermusiksaal. I especially love op. 25 no. 11 and of course op. 10 no. 4 and no. 2. I'm attempting to learn op 10 no 4 without a teacher but it's a loooong way from yours! Living in berlin is great for classical concerts, I've been going to soooo many in the past few months including Daniil Trofonov (Rach 3), Evgeny Kissin (Recital) , Kirill Gerstein (Rach 2) and many more.
I'm a 3D artist and one of my dreams is making an animation short on the Liebestod music. I love it in piano transcriptions, with orchestra solo and inside the opera. Unfortunately I need other 10-15 people like me for a similar project. :(
This comment made me laugh. Val herself pretty much said what I was going to say. Still the sarcastic remark about the purple dress made me laugh anyway. Thank you for that.
I wonder how long it took you to record this amazing version? Apparently it took Horowitz 3 days to get the performance he wanted and he passed away 4 days later.
Having spent decades thinking Horowitz's rendition of this masterpiece to be untouchable, you have brought your beautiful, heartrendingly expressive artistry to bear new fruit. Thank you, Valentina.

This is the most beautiful version I have heard.
Thank you Valentina, so beautiful!

Magnificent! Thanks for this not-often-enough played piece!
I went into a dream world listening to this, dear Valentina! You are magic!! xoxox

So wonderful. I feel its diffrent from other versions. Tempo slower. Very nice pace. One of the best.
A lot of us are going to be Valentina Lisitsa's #1 fan, but I think we're going to have to share. Always a brilliant performance.
Beautiful!! As always!!! You are truly an inspiration for me....
WELCOME!!!
***** Oh wow!!! Same for me too.... I have learnt moonlight sonata all 3 mov and also uploaded on youtube... She is awesome indeed!
Thank you very very much Valentina! I would like to hear you play like this for eternity...
Thank you Valentina for starting off my day with this gem. I had not
heard it in years, although I do have Alfred Brendel’s marvelous recording.
Thanks so much for this treasure. It was one of the first pieces I listened to (quite by accident) on a Horowitz CD I bought ages ago. You are magnificent here, as always, snd it's my absolute joy to watch you play.
Incredible. You have inspired me to play this for my next recital! So much respect for your artistry Valentina xxx

So beautiful. Well done, Valentina. Well done. No words. Breathtaking.
Another example of Valentina's inborn musical 6th sense which in this case sparkles like a beautiful diamond.
Unbelievable. I agree with another commentator below: he would not believe that Horrowitz's interpretation could be topped. But this one in marvellous, in all beautiful extremes. And because it lasts 1 minute longer, it is 1 minute more pleasure. Fantastic!
Uhmmm.... this piece goes just right to the center of your heart and shakes it until you die.... mesmering.

Even nicer than the original...incredible...
Thank you.
I was only familiar with the Horowitz transcription und the opera movie. So much music, so little time.
haraso Valentina spasiba krasivaja rabota .

Wonderful!
Intense, deep, beautiful.
Who wrote the transcription please..? Congratulations all nuances are there...magnificent
Liszt
Lisitsa is one of the best pianists in the world. Although I'm a bit sad she supports Putin. Still she plays like heaven.
great sound! to meet you would be nice! When are you coming to Rome?
Bravo Bravo!

+ValentinaLisitsa oh and Appassionata is probably my favorite Sonata right now, mostly because of the 1st and 3rd movement. I like the speed :))
She is excellent!!!!!! Almost as good as Karine Poghosyan

You sure love this purple dress.

Wagner is so much better without the singers!
Kevin Moore May be the actual singers
Wagner without singing is like Valentina without the Piano - no life - bland.
Not the best version, bit clatery in places and not the right level of emotion or feel for what is probably the pinnacle of romantic music.
