Also, the joy the interview with people that have Williams syndrome have brought into my depressed heart is absolutely priceless. I can only imagine just how many peoples days have been made so much brighter by meeting someone as cheerful as we've seen in these interviews. That alone can open people's hearts and minds to the other side of having disabilities.

It’s nice to meet you Nora :D thank you for sharing your point of view If you don’t mind me asking, where do you see differences in how williams syndrome is being portrayed here and your personal experience?
Bess knowing how to calm herself down, and being proud of it is actually extremely intelligent, and is a skill/mindset that most adults don't even possess.
People think “the happy syndrome” is just someone being kind, but it causes delayed developement, problems with speech and balance, mental disability, and sometimes seizures. It’s not just about someone being happy.
Thank you for pointing this out. It was pretty well obvious that there were many more things going on with this child in the first 2 mins of the video and thankfully the family does go into a little detail throughout. I can see that this could greatly impact the entire family, system especially the younger sibling.
@@GoodPennyYHWHsaves I honestly got the feeling everything isn't all rainbows and sunshine in that home. I mean, it couldn't be. It would have to be exhausting.

No, the problem theoretically is , being focussed on happiness all the time is not realistic. Its not about the downsides of some things it's about being unaware or less avware of living in the balanced side. She will miss the part of life which is real. Ie sad and happy both. It's like not living in a real world.
@@sushs7991 it totally is a real world to live in. she just doesn't require sitting with the negatives in life in order to value the positives whereas most of us need that contrast, and that's cool as hell. every world view on planet earth has positives and negatives for survival and experience but i think being constantly happy and lovey is one of the more pleasant ways to be.
Those who prey on the vulnerable are a cancer in our society. It's horrifying to even think that people can be so vile. So we need to be vigilant! Guard them with our lives! 😐👊🏽
When Chris asked "Do you and your sister ever argue?" their response was to burst into laughter as though the thought of arguing with each other was a foreign concept (laughable). That just melted my heart. So Adorable
I was a little concerned for her brother, that it might be a little challenging for him to not be able to have his sister get it when he’s feeling the less happy emotions.
While I appreciate and understand the sentiment.. if everyone was happy like this.. we'd go extinct because we wouldn't be able to take care of ourselves. Just a reality check for you.
Imagine having multiple best friends forever….and yet being entirely genuine about each one. She really thinks of everyone as her best friends and *means* it.
@Privatehandledonotcontactwhat say you that its awful? Being sad all the time is worse than being happy all the time and i could definitely say that as a person with adhd
If you cried to this then I think your depression went no where and if went away from watching this 21 min video on TH-cam of someone you don't know we can safely say you have never had depression and have no idea of what it is. My disabilities are physical and I can't function in most of society, for example. But if I didn't have my physical problems, I would be able to work, but I am still special needs. My daughter has Williams Syndrome. She is just the most amazing blessing and changes everyone who knows her for the better. She has many (MANY) physical disabilities along with her other disabilities. She is so strong and faces challenge after challenge with such a beautiful ability. She is extremely friendly also, and makes everyone who meets her feel loved, appreciated, valued and seen. She’s never gone somewhere and not made a friend. That being said, she doesn’t always feel happy. She struggles with anxiety and also gets angry fairly easily. We’re working on coping skills with her for when she’s feeling angry and overwhelmed. I showed her this video and she just absolutely loved seeing someone like her. My daughter is hard to place when it comes to where she’s at (is she more like a toddler or a school age child, etc.) She’s 16 but in many ways she’s like a 3-4 year old and in other ways she’s like an 8-9 year old. My daughter has an extreme form of Williams Syndrome according to Stanford specialists. In fact they documented and filmed her in order to teach specialists about Williams Syndrome and it’s many complexities. Not too long ago she received a wish from Make A Wish which was absolutely mind blowing and precious beyond words. To this day she STILL talks to everyone about it and it continues to bring her so much joy. Each day with her is a gift that none of us takes for granted. She has several heart conditions and has already had to undergo major open heart surgery. She actually almost didn’t survive it-so the fact that she is here with us really IS a gift. The Drs are trying to hold off on any future surgeries as they aren’t sure she will survive another one. The Lord has been good to us and they have been able to hold off on all of them for the time being. My little Olyvia is my joy. Our family has been shaped so much by our little firecracker. I wish she didn’t have to experience all the pain she goes through daily (major GI issues, and joint/bone issues, along with hyper sensitive hearing which causes normal sounds to be painful for her). But as far as who she is and how she interacts with the world and the people around her, I wouldn’t change that for anything (with the exception of trying to help her understand that not everyone is safe to be friends with).
Thank you for sharing I very much appreciate the perspective. I think as er nurse there's so many things we don't see often and I try to consume this kind of media for further perspective and understanding of potential patient populations I could come across so I just wanted to thank you so much for taking the time 🙏
Just imagine a kind of society of parallel evolution where all people have this genetic disorder. A parallel universe where this was the normal way of being. How different would everything be. Probably science, society, technology would be way different too. So much different. Without the wars and stuff too. Different technological evolution
@@XY-ep8uz I mean I get you don't genuinely mean that if everyone had this disability we would be better off, but I don't even think that would happen regardless of the downsides of the disability. It's actually not normal to be happy all the time...some very beautiful and necessary things have been born out of frustration, anger, sadness...not very intelligent to think the world would benefit from everyone being happy 100% of the time.

My Uncle has William's syndrome! They told his parents that he wouldn't live past 8....now he's in his 50's! He's nice to everyone and always seems to happy, somehow even remaining optimistic after his father passed away. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, William's syndrome tends to come with a ton of medical issues and could be very challenging. His life growing up was also difficult due to the social stigma that he faced and the lack of understanding/compassion towards those with disabilities.
That was really nice to read thanks for sharing about your Uncle :). It's important to spread awareness, people go through so much yet a lot would assume this condition was just pure happiness without realising the social and health stuff could be hard. I'm so glad your uncle is thriving in his 50s though :)

People think “the happy syndrome” is just someone being kind, but it causes delayed developement, problems with speech and balance, mental disability, and sometimes seizures. It’s not just about someone being happy.
Thank you for pointing this out. I guess one of the downsides with such syndrome is that you became too friendly with some folks you should totally be not
In the current society, thats very bad. People tend to try to take advantage of people.
No, the problem theoretically is , being focussed on happiness all the time is not realistic. Its not about the downsides of some things it's about being unaware or less avware of living in the balanced side. She will miss the part of life which is real. Ie sad and happy both. It's like not living in a real world.

Aww 😊
What is William syndrome can someone please explain
Bro she's like literally the luckiest person in the world to be happy every single momment, but that makes me wonder how she handles serious times
I think she mentioned in the interview that she focuses on her breathing & counts 1,2,3,4. She says it helps her to relax.
Sending so much love, hope, and peace. You are blessed by God, indeed.

She still kicking it?
My nephew has William’s Syndrome. He had an amazing vocabulary from a young age! He makes me feel so loved. He always gives me tons of compliments & says he loves me. When they were doing the “bah bah bah” thing and Chris was getting sadder & sadder she brought it back up to happiness.
I figured he wanted to understand her potential to emote on a scale , and she wasn’t as willing ( at least in that moment ) to go low vibe , or express it , granted there are so many variables even outside of the Williams , you have that she’s aware she’s filming , she’s genuinely excited to meet her new friend , and she genuinely having a blast - so , it’s a lot !
Chris has such a good skill of managing to take her answers that dont make sense to the question and being able to adapt it anyhow. It might seem small but it's a skill that most people should have to better connect with a/their child
I don’t know if you’re still reading the comments, but Bess just made me a happier person. Please thank her for me. 😊😊😊
“angels keep me safe” she’s such a precious soul!
I love the fact her disability is being happy. It brings joy to my heart. Kids are the joy of the world!!!
She is adorable! I am the mother of a boy with Williams syndrome whose smile never leaves his face, he loves music and loves everyone, doesn't differentiate between good and bad, loves everyone and radiates light wherever he is.
I can imagine how amazing it is to have someone with Williams syndrome as their personality traits make them extremely cute
@@GTAManRCRit's not amazing to have a syndrome, sadness and anger are parts of life completely normal!
My little brother has willisms
@@OctoTrials Greetings for him!
@@itsallaboutthEfootball So is hatred and crimes huh?
Her joy is absolutely contagious! She is the SWEETEST little girl I've ever seen! What a treasure and blessing for these lucky parents!!! This girl has a legit superpower.
Rogue is so lucky, imagine having a direct influence in your life other than your parents that is constantly positive and only gives love to you
I wouldn't even put parents. Many don't care about their kids
@@mindyourbusinessxoxoTrue
It must be an empty and frustrating experience for him at time. His sibling unable to truly empathize, and what death is there within the relationship?
It is a lit6of PRESSURE on Rogue
These individuals with Williams Syndrome are so easy to fall in love with and have such radiant personalities. Its a joy to watch these interviews.
yes.
I love when she and Chris were making silly sounds and Chris began to fake cry. She immediately and very clearly turned it around into something positive
That was my thought as well she paused for a brief second and was like nope I don't want to cry 😊

Omg I’ve never wanted to protect someone so bad in my life. She has a heart of gold. I don’t think it’s a disorder, honestly she’s a vibe 😌😊☺️
It is a disorder with sometimes also some serious things like heart, kidney and blood vessel problems and often teeth problems and lower IQ.
I feel like people with Williams and Down syndrome are how people are supposed to be or how people should be. They’re happy, kind, forgiving, loving, do their best. The best human beings on the planet.
If only everyone saw through their eyes
That was a really nice way to put it : )
🫶🏽
I completely agree. If everyone was like that, the whole world would become a paradise full of happiness, peace, love and laughter ☺️
I have a 34 year old son with Down syndrome and he is a total delight :)
I have been in an insanely dark place for several weeks. I’ll be totally honest, it’s gotten to the point that I don’t want to be here anymore. This beautiful interview has just pulled me out of such a dark place. Bess, you are such a beautiful soul. I hope you never lose anything about the beautiful person you are. You’re going to make such an impact on others lives. I feel so HAPPY after watching you be yourself. Keep being you 🥰
do t do it I like duces
So glad you're here❤
so so happy you’re here! i hope you know you’re so important and you deserve to be happy :)
I'm very glad you're coming back from that dark place, Megan :)
im there now, its rough...finding reasons to stay is hard, im glad you found some joy here, i liked this too
all i can think about is how happy this girl is going to make so many people! she's going to make so many people smile, and feel good about themselves, and feel like they have someone on their side!!! she's such a gift to this world
Even severe depression can't contain a great real smile when watching her be an angel! Thank you for gifting me a smile today 💌
@@Nuphs8thats a crazy statement and wrong, its a real disorder in a persons brain, working out can help but it doesnt cure depression. i hope you learn to have empathy for things you will never understand.
You can get over depression man, don't give up :)
@@Nuphs8that a way to help but it won't cure depression😂 depression in itself isn't a choice
@@Nuphs8I’m assuming you haven’t ever had it.
I love that people are debating the logistics and authenticity of this stranger's depression
I strive to be this unapologetically happy in life. I know that this is classified as a “disability” or “disease” but in my eyes, this is such a blessing. There is no such thing as too much positivity or happiness. This girl is such a bundle of joy, keep her heart pure and protected. 🌷
Exactly i see a girl enjoying life thats it.
Two beautiful comments.
She motivated me to the same thing. Keeping the video.
True😊
Only problem is people tend to get angry at happy people. I never could figure that out. Walk into work happy, smiling, and saying good morning and people get mad.
Well shes just one of the most adorable souls ive ever seen. I wish i could be her friend and protect her from all the evil and corruption in the world.
She's going to be just fine.
She will find her path and she will find her people.
God Bless Her, and Her family. 💐
Oh my gosh - when Bess responded on calming down - I GOT IT! That resonnated with me and to see and hear her do it and then to hear her say it makes her feel proud --- gosh, I teared up! As an adult, this precious gem of a girl taught me!! What a beautiful little girl!!
I started bawling too
It made so much sense
Yes that was very clever how she helped us all realise how to just calm down, im gonna remember this it was super helpful
Im 26, that almost made me tear up as well..she is absolutely beautiful with a sweet soul
when she was asked if her and her brother ever argue they laughed out loud and that was so wholesome
Man i love how chris matches his interviewees energy. Its gotta be so much fun for these kids who otherwise are probably looked past and ignored. Chris and alyssa are doing good things out here ❤😊
You guys are wonderful parents seeing this by chance was pretty awesome..
Could we also appreciate her mother for her constant support and unconstitutional love, i mean she is an angel herself. She deserves all the love and light she's doing for her daughter and the community. The patience! The ability to comprehend! The empathy she carries❤
*unconditional
Yes, and for not forcing the younger kid into being a caretaker. She seems like a good parent.
This was honestly so wholesome that I literally cried, bless your souls
The word "literally" is redundant. But yeah.
What is it with you and the word literally?@@BalboaBaggins literally ruining the comment section
@@KimberlyBishh Why do you feel the urge to abuse the word literally?
I was born with a severe form of Marfan Syndrome and am living an amazing life turning 23 in May. Love seeing you show how people with genetic differences should be treated, as our best friends. Compassion is the greatest strength of humanity that makes us so successful as a species
I think my daughter has a connective tissue disorder. How does one get diagnosed?
Ah, you are so young still. I appreciate that you have challenges, and I hope that you have joy, peace and love in your life. ❤🌹

I don’t believe she’s even from earth she’s too pure to be from earth❤❤
Chris u deserve a humanitarian award the work you do w these kids is awesome u might be the best content on TH-cam
Syndrome or not. This girl is what the world should look at and strive to become. She knows the meaning of life. An angel 💚💜💚 .
The parents should be so proud.
Humans need sadness, anger and hard times in our lives to toughen. Shes still amazing
No thanks, I need my other emotions as well so I can grow and learn from mistakes.
Нет это реально страшно, она прекрасна но только когда она такая одна!
@@Havok135 so you say, you dont need the emotions of being sad, you need knowladge that sadnes exist.
Yeah I was just thinking this is probably how we will feel in heaven
She probably changes the world constantly. What a super power. She's a super hero, someone should tell her that.
❤️ so true
Yes!!!❤❤
this is oddly specific lol but i feel like shes one of those people that you talk to in a restaurant once and randomly wonder how theyre doing for the next 20 years. cant tell you how many times me or one of my family members will say something like "man, i wonder how that little girl that started talking to us at taco bell that one time in 2006 is doing now" XD
i was thinking she could probably teach depressing people like me a bit about how to experience more joy, may life be easy on her
Right…5 secs into the video I was so happy she can change the world one smile at a time
Wow I am in tears of joy. This kid is so kind, happy, joyful.
Chris is such a sweet kind adult and the way he always interacts with these people really touches my heart. I’m neurodivergent and a trauma survivor and we need more people like him ❤ thank you for helping tell these peoples story.
Ignorance is bliss, as someone who struggles with depression almost everyday. I am extremely envious of this family. She is a miracle child. Thank you for making me smile!
Why you extremely envious , about what, they child is sick, there nothing to be envious.
This disorder also affects the cardiovascular system and causes learning difficulties. Too much of something is never a good thing, she may struggle connecting with people in the future bc she may not be able to understand them when they get upset
The lows help us appreciate the highs in life even more. The whole range of human emotions are beautiful.
As someone who has CPSTD from childhood abuse, I understand the depression & anxiety aspect but also being empathetic and able to understand what others are feeling and act appropriately is a blessing.
Theyre referring to the positive parts of this condition. Not all of it is sad. Stop acting dense.@@litalujanebutterfly
As someone with clinical depression.. I dont.. this girl is just as unwell as us, she has an oxycotin overload, which comes with its own mental health issues and difficulties.. Social cue difficulties.. vunerability to strangers who could hurt her or take advantage of her and her innocence.. I wouldnt want fo be her..
She’s actually a blessing . All that love she could heal the world
🥰 so true!!!
She has a beautiful golden soul
If you died TODAY, where would you be spending eternity? Have all your sins been forgiven or are you still hoping that you're a good enough person to earn a spot in heaven.
The reality is that no one can earn a spot, our sin disqualifies us. But the God news is that Jesus paid for our qualification by dying on our behalf taking the punishment that we deserved.
JESUS said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son; that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
Nothing is more important than your eternal destination. Please, don't say, "When I get older I'll get right with God' or 'I'll get serious with Jesus one day when I'm ready.'
Don't wait any longer, today is the day of salvation. Get right with God today, for tomorrow very well might be too late.
We invite you to REPENT and accept that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life by praying this simple prayer out loud right now...
'Heavenly Father, I turn away from my old life and repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus came for me, that Jesus died for me and that Jesus rose again for me so that I can be forgiven and receive eternal life. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, receive the gift of eternal life. I ask you to fill me with the Holy Spirit and lead me for the rest of my life. In Jesus name - Amen.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Amen
