I was told that I had the last cutout extended in existence that was NOS. There might be a few personally owned, untouched ones out there still. Good news is the non-extended ones are still available. Just email Centurion Arms and tell them you saw my vid. It's a secret menu item. 😘
@@bunnyoperator glad I did a build with one several years back when they were still be produced. Certainly aged well in an era where everything looks identical with Mlok.
Thanks for the sweet upload. I have been looking at doing a FSB build using a Centurion Arms barrel and mid length handguard. Your tips will come in handy I'm sure.
They have the 2 piece MLOK and quad available also. These instructions are for the old, CMR style but I did reference the C4 MLOK as well. I'm sure you'll be happy regardless of which you decide on.
I have the original CMR (non-lightening cuts) in 12 inch on a 16 inch barrel and have the MLOK CMR 10.5 on a 11.3 barrel. Both are fantastic handguards, however I really like the Original CMR over the MLOK handguard.
Definitely. The Gen1 CMRs definitely have a different vibe. They were beefy, super rigid systems for sure. I am perfectly happy with running all CMR, frankly but I also understand why moving towards MLOK is needed.
@@bunnyoperator Do you have any experience with Black River tactical barrels? I am considering pulling my BA 11.3 out and doing the BRT 11.5 barrel. My BA 11.3 has gas leakage from barrel and gas block. It runs fine no issues and has a .070 gas port that I pin gauged myself. BA barrels are accurate I am just getting anal with quality. The gas block tolerances are loose to the barrel. Freaking annoying.
@@monkeycbrown I do not have direct, personal experience with BRT barrels but my close buddies do, as does the other folks I communicate with in the industry. Revival Defense has a good bit of experience with them as well. I would have no problems with deciding to run their barrels. I simply had access to Centurion Arms barrels, so I got them. You could alternatively try a different gas block assuming that the OD of the BA barrel is appropriately sized, unless it's a Hanson. If that's the case, BA should be replacing that for you.
@@bunnyoperator it's a hanson. I will run it for a while. It runs reliably with a VLTOR A5 buffer system with a green sprinco A5H2 buffer. Ejection is right around 3-3:30 full power 556 ammo. The loose tolerances is why I typically buy barrels and gas blocks separate and will pin my own gas blocks myself.
@@monkeycbrown I hope that it's a minor leak that'll seal itself after XYZ rounds. If not then def reach out to BA when you find it necessary. They should make it right. I have seen some examples of their GB free spinning with their barrels, so the possibility is there.
will the new C4 two piece handguard work on the cmr barrel nut? i just got a barrel with FSB and i got the cmr barrel nut....im trying to figure out what hamdguards will work with out taking off the FSB.....am i screwed? lol
The 2 piece will only work with the GI nut. CMR nuts are proprietary to the CMR and newer MLOK line one piece. Until Centurion makes a 2 piece version for the CMR nut you're going to need to remove the FSB to get it off. You can send me a photo of your setup through IG or FB, so I can see what you have going on.
They emailed me back saying they think they might have a few left but will have to check tomorrow. They also mentioned that it was a pain in the ass to install and referenced your video lol
@@bunnyoperator sorry, ring autocorrected to front for some reason. I meant the ring over the barrel nut. Is it just removing the ring and the spring underneath, then install the 2 piece handguard?
@@DJJammyJams Yes, you can cut the delta ring and springs while leaving the barrel nut alone or completely remove the barrel nut assembly to dismantle. It just depends on if you want to rezero or don't feel comfortable cutting. It's probably easier to remove the handguard retaining cap via dismantling also but that also depends on how stubborn your FSB taper pins are. 😂
@@BravoJulietAlpha That's certainly and option. Individual circumstances dictate what we're willing to do. There are certainly FSBs without the bayonet lug and sling section out there. If you had the means/know-how to drill and use the appropriate sized pins then by all means go for it. Especially since you'd need to swap the barrel nut for these regardless. I suppose for the 2-piece design it would be a little more simple to remove it all then reassemble with only the required parts. It may not be so easy for folks with P&W, so they'd probably have to cut components regardless. Still, the options are there, and if folks aren't willing to do the work for any of the options then then it's not for them as with many proprietary systems. This reference video is here to help folks decide.

Yes, but not in this cutout style. You would get the appropriate length up to the FSB for rifle length, which should be a 12" rail.
Odd question but what paint pens do you use? Mine never get a nice prominent line like that 😮
Sharpie oil-based paint pens. They work wonders and come off with a little alcohol.
