That's it right there. The tundra is (or was) Toyota's answer to the f150 and 1500... With a V8. No laborer wants a finicky, under torqued, overpriced show truck. We want a dependable, comfortable work truck we can take pride in.

Unpopular opinion. I see so many of these videos, yes the price is high but if you look at it, inflation is up like 22% since 2020 so that 55.5k with inflation is 68k, you add all the tech that the previous model was missing and you can see where they got the price. It's not exclusive to the Tundra, it's the whole auto industry and everything Else. Yes prices are too high but it's high for everything. Candy bars were 35 cents when i went to school 30 years ago, now that Snickers is like $3. Inflation is crazy.
Screw that - the manufacturers only care about selling $100k cars to the wealthy. The rest of us will just have to settle for used vehicles - it's our "new normal". FJB
The other big issue for me, regardless of make is that no one stocks a 6.5" foot bed. The little 5' bed on the back of most half tons are worthless. I use my truck for hauling in the bed and a 5' bed is worthless.

That’s what I been saying for years. Falls on deaf ears though. Those morons paying Stealership prices are screwing the rest of us from ever seeing fair price tags again.
Bought a '23 Tundra and got rid of it 3 months later with only 1,800 mi. I'm a Toyota fan for over 20 years, my last '18 Tundra was an awesome truck minus the MPG. This new '23 Tundra was a pile of crap. So many issues and Toyota would not fix any of the issues including dead throttle.....it would lose throttle randomly for 2-3 seconds. Opened a case with Toyota USA and they told me unless I can replicate it at the dealerships lot, they will not help. Got rid of that truck before it puts me and my family in a bad spot for a wreck. Moved on to a GMC Sierra 1500 3.0 Duramax. Such a nice truck and not a single issue now 20k plus miles. And I'm averaging 28mpg...unbelievable.
The US has an economy every country on earth wishes they had. Nice shit bagging on the USA because Toyota Tundras are expensive. The problem is candy asses who whine like a bitch over the dumbest shit on earth. "Tundras are expensive that means the USA is pure shit..where is my woobie!"
People are worried about what's about to happen in their lives in the next four or five years. They don't see having a $50,000 note on a pickup truck as making that situation better.
This is what happens when a corporation allows dealers to mark up a vehicle. Too many people are frustrated with these stealerships and now have been jaded by the BS and won't stand for it. The people that bought the 22's at insane mark ups are responsible for the BS as well. Looks like I'm holding onto my 2018 for a while longer.
Simply put. The prices they're charging (automakers across the board) are absurd. Even if the economy wasn't in shambles, I still wouldn't pay such ridiculous prices.
What is believe is happening is they will keep pricing high and force dealers to sell there dealerships so in the future they can sell on line like tesla is doing
Yep. I just bought a new Nissan Frontier, less expensive than a Tacoma and still has a V-6. Tacoma is a 4-cylinder turbo now. Plus, I think Frontier is a better looking truck.
Turbo is a waste of money for gas it's not a sport car you are right they get rid of it the old engine like v8 and over priced the useless engine what a joke😂
Talking to a friend in the business, corporate side, back in 21 he was saying Toyota is seeing people playing these huge markups, so he was afraid that Toyota would raise their msrp since we proved we would pay these stupid prices, so we did it to ourselves i think honestly by overpaying
You answered your own question, $20k increase in 3 MY versions and interest rates trippled. Who can afford $1k+ monthly payment plus insurance and maintenance. Just ridiculous
Take it from me (PLEASE!) an owner of a 22’ Tundra and let me sum things up…for starters the infotainment system sucks and the front doors flex because they’re HUGE, over 6’ diagonally and I hear it daily driving. Can’t imagine taking offroad. Contacting Toyota’s help line netted ZERO help. $63K then $38K now offered at trade in with 10,500 miles clean as a whistle. 😢
It definitely revolves around durability, price ( currently at beyond insane levels ), and options available ( V8's, mechanical controls, no push to start, ect ).
Needs to be triple that discount. I found an sr5 SX package that caught my eye but $3600 off a $52000 truck isn’t doing it for me. $11000 off and I make that deal.
It's crazy!! I just saw a used 2014 Toyota Tundra with 187,000 miles go for $25,995! It's time for consumers to take back our buying power and stall out on all of these car dealerships!
I sold my new 2022 Tundra SR 5 back in January of this year with 7,842 miles on the odometer. At about 5,000 I noticed a thump sound from the engine on cold start. I never took it to the dealer that I bought it from just to be told that they could not duplicate the problem. I sold the truck to a dealer while the value was still reasonable. I don’t regret selling the Tundra after researching the 2022 - 2024 Tundra problems coming to light. Thanks for sharing your video.
$ 75,000 for a truck is outrageous, especially with known recalls and issues with the engines and bearings. I was planning to trade in my 2020 Tacoma and upgrade to the Tundra TRD pro, but the prices and the problems have convinced me to keep my 20 Tacoma. Cut the greed and put the prices back to where they belong and fix the recalls and other issues on The manufacturers dime and these trucks will start selling again. And this goes for all other truck market.
@@DudetaketheBusNew Toyotas aren't even lasting that long, either. The new engines that Toyota stuffed in the trucks are eating themselves apart from turbos going belly up to bearings getting loose. As a contractor that use his truck to tow a cargo trailer everyday with my 2008 tundra 5.7 i have a few problems with the new tundra. 1- no more leafs springs, coils with air bags on some models we all know coils tow like garbage 2- SR base model that is basicly the go model for contractors don’t tow as much as the other models less horsepower 3- with the tailgate down there is no way of getting inside the bed to get your tools with the corners of the bumper boxed in. 4- twin turbo engine that gets almost the same mpg as the 5.7L 5- if i look at my 16yr old truck and look at the new tundra im not sure if the reliablity is still there for long therm. 6- as a toyota fan im not sure when my old tundra is done i will go with the same brand very disappointed in the new tundra
Even the new Trd pros are up over 20k vs the model you have. They just aren’t worth 20+k more than the older ones just 3 years ago go. How can a top of the line one for 53-54k just 3 years ago now 75k. Even back then you could get 3k off a Trd 4runner or tundra etc. people are not stupid. 45 years of purchasing vehicles in Utah and I have NEVER been able to close a deal with Ken Garff. Ken Garff dealers are ALWAYS thousands more than competitors. 78k for a Tundra... it's going to sit. They have new 2022 Ram's on their lot that they refuse to lower the price. Imagine what they have paid in floor plan costs over that amount of time. They'll need a 100k now just to brake even.
Indeed. The insurance business is a racket to begin with. You are requires by law to have coverage, but there's no cap on how much they can charge you & they can raise rates & or cancel your coverage at any time for no reason. The mafia used the same system.
Okay, just test drove a TRD Pro iForce Max and this is my takeaway (and reasons I passed in no particular order): -Composite Bed -Small Bed -Plastic Bumpers -No Bed Step -No Recovery Hooks -Tire Tread Depth (really Toyota?) -Just Plain Ugly -No Rear Under Seat Storage -Little Rear Headroom (sunroof) -Priced Equivalent To 3/4Ton -Squat, Little Payload …other than that, well, it’s a damn good truck. Pretty quick and comfortable too. Just not what I need at that price point.
Its because for the majority of people a 60k truck is financial napalm. Car manufacturers became used to the idea that consumers would be able to buy trucks with nearly free loans. While car loan interest is averaging above 10% these expensive trucks will struggle.
Meanwhile, in Canada, the waiting list for a standard Corolla is 9 to 12 months and the hybrid is more than 2 years. The Camry hybrid is similar, around a 2.5 year wait after you submit your order.
I have a 16 tacoma that I plan to sell within the next two years and upgrade to a 4th gen TRD PRO. I'm hoping to profit from the recent dealership struggles
Nobody wants to, nor can they afford even reduced prices. Bring over the small 10k vehicles from overseas. I just want something to get from A to B reliably or haul what I need to haul. We don't need more tech than nasa in our vehicles
High prices are a part but I'm more turned off by the new looks and powertrain. A V8 is offered everywhere else and I think Toyota would've benefitted from having one too. So I bought a Titan XD and the new Tundra was my LAST on my list after driving them all.
The 3g Tundra is a huge let down. 1g tundra was consistently popular and loved, 2g Tundra hit the market swinging big D with a nearly 3/4 ton class frame, massive brakes, massive transmission and massive capabilities which made everyone run back to the drawing board. Then the 3g hype train came along and had peoples expectations very high with the leaked "world beater" bs. What do we get? A Tacoma XL with ridiculous "bumpers" and strange design choices. You can tell all the truck budget went to the Tacoma and the Tundra got the crumbs. Toyota can salvage this gen by giving it a major face lift and I emphasis on the lift part. Pick up it's dumb underbite, give it steel bumper options front and rear, tone down the massive bs grill, and give the 4x4 Tundra and the Sequoia a suspension lift. Bring back the bench seat option, especially for the double cab. That center console isn't doing any favors for rear seat legroom. Bring back the V8.
the automakers have left their core market behind in affordability.over the last decade, they have milked all the cows dry.GREED often supplies its own ending.
They have crossed the cost-benefit of tech vs cost. A new truck that’s .08% better than a 5 year old one but an extra 20K? Nope. It’s a truck. Not a luxury sedan. We’d love and buy the heck out of a Prado with manual windows and a 200 HP engine with vinyl floorboards for 25 grand….
Thanks for your service man. Went to a dealership in FL and the stupid sales manager gave me a price with mark-up. Told him he can keep it. Went and bought Ram HD for the less.
What is crazy is the price AFTER the discount. The MSRP is just absurd and to take a few thousand off still makes it absurd. They have to come down at least $15-$20K. The price on all new trucks of all brands is impossible. Interest rates are actually, from a historical point of view, not nearly as insane as the MSRP which seem like made up numbers.
I mean Ford and GM keep their v8's as an option to their trucks. They could always blow the dust off the 4.7 or the 5.7 v8's or even use the 5.0 out of the LC500 which is still in production for now.
I bought a new 2004 first generation tundra, beautiful truck, drove it for 18 years. I avoided buying a new more for as long as I could because I don't like what they've done to the tundra line. 1 Don't like the new body design. 2 Don't like all the new electronic gadgetry . 3 Don't like the new transmission. 4 Don't like the quality, it has gone down hill. 5 Don't like the new engine. 5 Don't like the new interior. 6. Hate the price. They've messed up a good thing,
I'm a Toyota fan boy also.Just bought a new Frontier s 4wd.29000 difference trading in a 2014 F150 regular cab 2wd with 165000 miles and a failing transmission.
It needs the V8 to make it attractive. The sound of the V8 is awesome and it can easily be enhanced. The price tag is way too high. A recent poll said that 83% of the people in the U.S. can’t afford to buy a new car or truck now. Toyota is competing for 17% of buyers and the price with a V6 is just too high. Maybe if you gave the price incentive off the MSRP and lowered the interest rate to finance it for 60 or 72 months? Just my opinion.
Note: The last Brand New Truck I bought was my 1998 Dodge Dakota R/T, I paid $18K for it from Dealership. I still own this Truck today, 26 years later it only has 79,000 miles on it. Still runs like it did when I bought it new. Why do I need a 2024? Really I don’t, and today’s trucks are over inflated prices, period. I can’t afford these new trucks today, anyways they not worth the money!
The problem lies that some people are still buying them. The new Tacoma is selling quick by people who are impulsive. I don't see the prices dropping any time soon.
Truck prices rose much faster than the bulk of people paychecks. Case closed. It's not crazy, its TOO.MUCH.MONEY!!! By Xmas of 2024 most of these dealerships will close.
Word is out on the build quality on this generation. My 22 Tundra is a disaster. When compared to other trucks in ite price range, the tundra feels so poorly built and cheap. Not words I'm used to saying with Toyotas

Vehicle prices are too high and interest rates are too high, keeping many from buying a new vehicle right now. Manufacturers and dealers are trying to keep the inflated pandemic/chip shortage prices in place and people arent having it. The industry as a whole needs to come back down to reality. Im about to turn in a lease and rather than buy or lease a new vehicle, Im choosing to turn my lease in and just drive my paid for 2007 GMC Sierra for a while until things normalize a bit. Oh yeah, I should add that many like myself are tired of seeing all these trucks, and other vehicles, move away from V8's and V6's too these turbo 4 cylinders. So, many may be looking for used vehicles that arent under powered. I love my V8 Sierra. I certainly hope this changes. Turbo 4's arent a good replacement.
I wasn’t a fan of Terra initially but after seeing it out in the direct sun, it’s really a great color that looks so different between sun and clouds. But I also think the smaller 4Runner wears it better than the larger vehicles.
GX550 Overtrail looks more interesting than a Tundra TrdPro at same price. If one really NEEDED a truck, one wouldn't be needing a TrdPro in the first place. So many 4x4s to choose from.
Correct, i've never seen a single TRDPro or Raptor owner use their vehicle as an actual truck. The one's I know offroad them 1-3 times then goes around boasting about how they offroad their vehicles but then keeps it as a pavement princess all the way till they sell it.
I’m curious what the invoice prices are on these trucks. I’ve bought many new vehicles for a couple hundred bucks over invoice in the past and a couple under invoice.
Even with the mark-ups in my area, people are still on waiting lists to get a 2024 Tundra and especially the 1794 and Limited. I’m not surprised, this is California and people rarely get sticker shock anymore.
Im still trying to figure out who can afford a 75,000 work truck? That used to be luxury car money....and still sort of is. You can get a pretty decent used Maserati for that kind of money.
Can u do a review on the GEN 5 Toyota 4Runner.. what prices are you seeing .There’s very few on the lot new and used down here in Florida where I’m at. And the new ones they are still wanting to start off at MSRP with no incentives or help on price.
Customers buy Toyota's because of their realistic prices but Toyota believes their recent sales success means the brand is valued more. That's their mistake and the market is going to hammer them for it.
I’m blessed to be able to afford any truck I desire; however, paying today’s prices is absurd. Paying close to $80k (after tax, tile, license and dealer fees), for a TRD Pro is insane. I went from driving a 22 Raptor and considering a 24 TRD Pro, to now driving a Ridgeline. I bought it for $2,500 under invoice and 1.9% financing. Blast me by saying it’s not a truck….I don’t give a shit. It’s more of a truck to me than the Raptor was. My payment is $400/month. The days of driving overpriced boujee trucks to go to Costco are over for most people.
Once upon a time, Toyota built Tundras with 5.7L V8s and droves of people rushed in to buy them. I supposed the heads of Toyota thought they were selling too many Tundras, so they had to do something about it.
My buddy's dad just traded in his 23 Tundra for a 24 Titan because he needs a NA V8 for towing. The man said it didn't tow as much as the specs stated and it struggled allot to pull 7K LBS up a steep hill, we live in Nevada. It's just crazy that Toyota killed the V8 in the Tundra/Sequoia and the V6 in the Tacoma.

It is an ugly truck; it is too expensive, and also It is a very mediocre truck that does not do anything better than its competition. The funny thing is that the 2024 Tacoma, relatively speaking, is even more expensive than this one. Have you seen the pricing of the new Ranger and the Ranger Raptor. It is way more affordable, and while I still like the exterior look of the new Tacoma, I bet the Ranger will have a peppier engine options, it will ride better than the Tacoma, and it will tow better than the Tacoma. Toyota's management is simply put delusional. The pricing sucks, the capability sucks, the exterior look of the Tundra is stupid, and I am a Toyota fanboy (but not for a long). I used to be a Mercedes fanboy in the 80s and 90s, and after they introduced the w210, I no longer look at any Mercedes. I do not think that Toyota will be able to persuade me buying this thing even if they offer me 30% off MSRP. The trend will be downwards from here, just wait few more years and you will see how bad these new Tundras are.
I just checked my local Toyota dealership, and this seems to be true. They have 69 on the lot, all $3,000 to $5,000 off. Not so for the Corolla. 22 in transit, none on the lot, all MSRP. It just goes to show people can't afford these high price trucks. They cost as much as some Mercedes-Benz.

The dealer called me asking if I wanted to trade in my 2018 Tundra limited for the new Tundra at a great deal. My reply to him was that without the 5.7 and all the new turbo crap on the new one there is no way this farmer would do so.
Smart. Wait until the install a V-8. Otherwise, let Morans buy these dumb trucks.
That's it right there. The tundra is (or was) Toyota's answer to the f150 and 1500... With a V8. No laborer wants a finicky, under torqued, overpriced show truck. We want a dependable, comfortable work truck we can take pride in.

Cut the price at least 20k

Yeah these are $50K trucks… not $70-80K…
Unpopular opinion. I see so many of these videos, yes the price is high but if you look at it, inflation is up like 22% since 2020 so that 55.5k with inflation is 68k, you add all the tech that the previous model was missing and you can see where they got the price. It's not exclusive to the Tundra, it's the whole auto industry and everything Else.
Yes prices are too high but it's high for everything. Candy bars were 35 cents when i went to school 30 years ago, now that Snickers is like $3. Inflation is crazy.
The auto industry forgets that they are supposed to develop a product the average man can afford.

It’s used for hauling kale in town 😂
I tow my car with my truck. I prefer the larger cab with smaller bed. The bed is for track wheels and tools. 5' is perfect!
I'd definitely buy one if they took $28500 off and brought back the v8
It’d be tough, but I could probably talk myself into getting one for 28.5k off msrp.. on second thought, 38.5k off

And this is just the beginning.

I want one, but only with a V-8
Let them stack up. High msrp and high interest rates. Everyday living expenses currently have gone way up.

Who would have thought that 6 cylinders would struggle compared to 8 cylinders for the same load.
Toyota pricing unit basically lost their minds and overestimated truck buyers’ willingness to pay
My cousin bought the I -FORCE MAX he hate he sold his 2021 now
What State are you in. Im looking for a Tundra but no good inventory in California.
To obtain financial freedom, one must either be a business owner, an investor or both, generating passive income particularly on a weekly or monthly basis. That’s the key to living financially stable...
I want to compliment you, you have said it all. I am a little business owner and I really want to expand my business to the next level by making myself an investor but I really don't know how to go about it..

You’re right but a lot of people remain poor due to ignorance
Not because of ignorance, it’s because of the high rate of unprofessionalism in the cypto market
They are too greedy I want to buy one but the MSRPs are ridiculous 😒 that combined with APRs is the perfect storm for a market crash
Agree. Ranger Raptor is going to dominate the Tacoma. Big Toyota fan but they’re not doing enough compared to the competition.
lol sure
Would not take a new tundra if it was given to me! Now a Tundra with 5.7 I will buy for the right price
It's not "greed" on the part of Toyota, it's pure stupidity on the part of numb-skulls who gladly sign their names to the loans & leases.
People are always quick to spend money they don’t have…
I just checked my local Toyota dealership, and this seems to be true. They have 69 on the lot, all $3,000 to $5,000 off. Not so for the Corolla. 22 in transit, none on the lot, all MSRP. It just goes to show people can't afford these high price trucks. They cost as much as some Mercedes-Benz.
A pick up truck shouldn't cost more than 50K dollars for a nice one. Plus the bidenomics interest rates. Ford, Chevy is having the same problem. Forget about it.
Low interest rates are what caused the price increases.
