  • With hurricane season still going strong, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) says its disaster fund has run out of money. Traditionally, hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, but as of August 7, 2024, FEMA will only provide money for immediate needs.

Sorry to hear that. I know in my case it was an issue with paperwork. They just wanted more information. Of course it’s difficult to fill out all that paperwork when you’re just in need of help. However, I understood that they needed the data so that people wouldn’t cheat them so that people wouldn’t lie so that they could properly record who was getting the money what the money was being spent on etc etc.

That’s a misconception. Wow FEMA does have a sub program that provided some funding to help Israel. It’s nowhere near the budget. FEMA was given not even close not even 5% of the budget FEMA was given.
Instead, I think you should examine the number of natural disasters we have had this year in America. Compare that with previous years compare that with previous decades. You will see we are having more natural disasters now than we did in the past. Next take a moment to compare how much it cost for someone to recover from a natural disaster today and how much it might have cost in the past. It cost way more money now. Look at the cost of building supplies alone. In the past 30 years, the cost of building supplies has gone up significantly yet the budget for FEMA has not.

Sure, it wasn’t Congress fighting on what to fund, republicans demanding cuts, ranting about FEMA checks and aid being misused and used too much in low income disaster sites.

Seems like that money for Ukraine and other government investments could go to this right??? I'm continually flabbergasted by the lack of thought we're all having at allowing this in the first place.. common sense that says there should be no divisions... Enough with government overspending and allocating to needs other than its own country

Just consider we’ve had more natural disasters than usual this year in America and it cost more money than ever to rebuild after you are hit by a natural disaster.
Look at Florida recently flood insurance doesn’t cover all that damage. Look at the tornado hit Sunbelt region of America. When your house is completely blown apart, it cost a significant amount of money to rebuild more than it used to just a few decades ago it might cost more money than to rebuild. Budget has not gone significantly in the past few decades so they have fewer dollars to give away and more people than ever in need of them

with tens of billions going overseas, toward charging stations and rural internet (where'd the money go?), and providing housing and money to illegals, no wonder there's nothing left. We need a Constitutional Amendment limiting government spending.

I just don’t make the mistake of thinking socialism would be better. You said it yourself the government should educate themselves. Imagine the same uneducated individuals making decisions without leveraging economic incentive due to human nature inherently being selfish; in complete control of all industry. Worse off

How odd that we always seem to find a way to fund Ukraine and Isreal. I guess there is just no money left for Americans. Maybe if we go to war with our neighbors we will be able to benifit just once from out taxes they militantly make sure we pay! Ask not what your country can do for you because the greedy self serving polititions will never do anything unless it’s for their own benifit. RFK Jr. hes my last hope
