Just added a 12 x 35 shop space during a garage remodel. Came to the internet looking for ideas and your channel was the first I saw. Great shop and I got lots of good ideas to reapply over time. Thank you.
That Rigid belt sander is an indispensable part of my shop also, although I’ve built mine into a somewhat larger table on a dedicated base. Reciprocating sanders are not easy to find in a size that doesn’t have a huge footprint. I’m on my second one having worn out the first. I build cabinet drawers out of 3/4” plywood sides, which helps eliminate scrap, and this sander does a perfect job of sanding the top edges before assembly. I enjoy your videos and although a retired cabinet builder I learn from you and other upcoming young woodworkers. Thanks.
Very useful presentation. My son and I are in the process of constructing a new shop and there are so many issues to figure out. Thanks for your clear discussion.
I couldn't help but droll & be envious of all the SUPER cool toys for building stuff! Just wanted say I really enjoy your channel & congratulations on your milestone! Take care & be safe from California!
I would enjoy anything cnc related because I love your channel but as you mentioned I haven't seen a lot of cnc related content...... I was a professional woodworker from 1991-2012. On 12/21/12 I was disabled in a car accident. After over six years and four joint replacements later I returned to woodworking by getting a cnc. I am now heavily involved in the hobbyist level cnc community and run a shop with a Shapeoko Pro and Thunder 35-100watt co2 laser.
The shop is really looking forward, Matt! Congrats on the silver play button! 😃 I hope some day my shop is going to be so well organized! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you so much for this. I have been at this amazing hobby called woodworking for the past two years, and have been collecting info here and there to optimize my shop. I couldn't help but to smile going through your tour as it helped me to validate the things I've done already and gives me a good look at what I could do next. Congrats on your milestone!
Hey again my man, I keep inspiring myself with these videos. Now my next question is, what type of plywood do you usually use for those cabinets at the shop? Let's say the one that holds de lathe, or the drill press... etc... it doesn't look like the standard birch
Congratulations on 100K and counting! I have a confession to make, I am a wood hoarder too. I like how you organize your leftover pieces. Mines piled up in the hay loft, I always seem to need the piece on the bottom. lol
Many congratulations on your milestone. From across the pond I really enjoy your videos and am so envious of your workshop. My little 10 x12 can only dream ..but keep up the good work..they both teach and inspire me 👏👏👏
Man. That is awesome. I've purchased several of your plans, but only built the shop-vac dust collection cart. Can't wait to gradually get to where you are at! Thanks for the inspiration!
Just recently found your page and love the content. One quick question: there’s a jig on the wall with your table saw jigs that’s white with an aluminum fence and a 90* arc routed into it. What’s that jigs function in life? I’m guessing some sort of angled miter jig, but haven’t seen a video with it being used yet. I picked up your shop jig bundle, but didn’t see it in there. Thanks for the time you take to pass on your experiences with us!
@MWAWoodworks I’ve been thinking about getting a Grizzly 8 inch jointer and 15 inch planer, both with the helical head cutters. Question I have for you is have you found a digital read out add-on for you grizzly planer?
Awesome vidoe the layout is very nice. Congratulations on the 100k and now 200k. Seen the lathe and kinda got excited wish you would have show the storage of it. But I get it.. Do you have plans for the lathe stand? Mine sits on an old small dresser and needs to be upgraded. Keep up the great work. 👽
Great and timely video. I'm in the process of designing some shop shelving/cabinet units and I got some great ideas from you. Two questions, both around the cinderblock walls. 3 of the walls in my shop are cinderblock. (Actually, I think they may be poured concrete w/ a cinderblock mold. They are painted so I can't really tell if I'm dealing w/ cement or concrete on the seams.) I'm curious what anchor system you use on your wood racks. I'm sure they have to hold a lot of weight. Also, when I mark and drill for anchors, it's a challenge to get the center of the hole exactly where I wanted it to get perfectly level. I'm using a hammer drill w/ masonry bits, but they tend to wander at initial contact. Any tricks?
I use tapcon masonry screws (no anchors needed) for attaching to concrete. I actually have a video on it. If you're having issues with wandering, grab an awl and a hammer and make a divot on the wall to keep the bit from wandering 👍
3:50 my garage shop wall looks nearly identical to yours in the “before” picture (pre-miter station, wood storage still on wall). How did you handle wood storage after you built the miter station?
Well laid out shop! I'm curious about your decision from going from the dewalt mitersaw to the festool. Performance wise is there a huge difference? I am planning to add a sliding compound miter saw to my shop when I expand in a bench with my dewalt radial arm saw. Thanks!
I have a DeWalt 12 inch slider in addition to the Kapex. I wanted the Kapex because of the dust collection and the fact that I can sit it against a wall so it works well on my miter saw station
@@MWAWoodworks gave me some good ideas on mitre station but think I'll go with flip top work bench with saw; n middle drill press and bandsaw on sides that can flip under table. As I work out of a half of double garage space saving
I will be taking care of that issue soon by adding a cart/cabinet to set it on and I won't use the legs. I think the legs are a good option if you do on-site work but for a shop I think it needs to be on top of something more stable with storage
I have a serious question I’m looking to build your miter station I love it, I have one I built last year but I want something with drawers and cabinets, the questions is do you really need t track on both sides ? I find my self only using one side for my stop block I’ve never had to use the other side.
I don't think you "need" t track at all. I use both sides just depends on how long my piece needs to be cut. The right side only does 48", which most of the time is enough, until it isn't 😀
Nice layout and your, food for thought. Q: what size is that Shop Fox drill press? Are you happy with it? Thinking about looking for something more compact than what I have now.
Just curious and want to confirm that you have 3 dust collectors plus the air cleaner? The portable cart, one dedicated to the mitre saw and the large one in the back milling room? I’m planning my new shop and am conscious of air quality
In the middle of a project it gets messy, but I always have a cleanup day after I finish to reset everything. Because I have a place where everything is supposed to go this process is pretty easy to keep up with. Where you get in trouble is when stuff doesn't have a home and just wanders from place to place in the shop

Congrats on 100k, Matt! Hoping to catch up one of these days 😀
Keep going!
IMO I would paint that block to brighten it up in the shop
Great tour ! Love the enthusiasm. That's what keeps us all going .

Thank you for the kind words! 🙏
Love miter saw setup
Thanks Kenneth!

Great ideas! What type of lights do you have?
If you want a challenge for your CNC. . . a double curve roll top breadbox will push you CAD abilities!!!
Yes it would!

Very cool seeing your flow. I need to make cabinets for the new shop so bad. They're so crucial.
Seriously I needed them so badly. Such a big upgrade this past year.
@@MWAWoodworks it's going to be my focus for the next few months. Just gotta finish this spray booth.
This shop is overwhelming. Blows my mind how much time, work and money went into this
Side mount garage doors are absolutely clutch! I've got one for each of my garage doors and I absolutely love them
They indeed are! Best investment I've made in my garage yet
The shop is really looking forward, Matt! Congrats on the silver play button! 😃

That's a table saw crosscut sled that can do angles. I don't have a video or plans for it yet. Built it several years ago

Congratulations on 100K mate, thats a massive achievement and you have definitely got an incredible workshop, greetings from Australia
100k subscribers, or 100k for the workshop? Why not both?
Congratulations on the 100k milestone. Your videos are really good and I enjoy them immensely.

I either be curious to know what you think about the Shop Smith Mark 7.
I've never used one
Hi Matt, thanks for the updated tour! Your rough lumber rack caught my eye, did you build it?
I did! Years ago out of plywood and hardwood
@@MWAWoodworks any vids or info on how? The bora racks are pretty inexpensive and I’m sure it would cost more to build, but those look much better!
HI mat super good video. thank u.
Thx

Plywood and maple

Good luck 🤞 they tend to come in packs
Use the cnc to make templates and sell them.
Great shop tour!
I just subscribed and found one thing I can nitpick about: where will the plaque for 1M subscribers go once you hit that?
🤣🤣
How do you like the MFT? In my opinion it is way too wobbly for the price

Nice layout and TOUR. Sorry about that!
It was a 13 inch model. It served me well for 10 years but I recently upgraded to the Nova Viking drill press. Also an amazing maching.

Not interested in cnc, but good job on viewership!
Are you based in St Louis or are you just a fan of good baseball??
No and yes
half a sheet of 3/4" plywood?!? that'll get you a festool CT26 these day! 😂
No joke 🤣🤣🤣🤣
