- Welcome to a new homemaking week in the life. Often homemakers are the most work-laden members of the household. Sometimes it seems that while everyone else is having fun, we are dealing with drudgery and our work never seems to end. But homemakers should have fun too. We need to remember to take regular breaks from our work in order to keep our spirits up... little pockets throughout our day. That might manifest in a late breakfast in our pajamas one Saturday, or an afternoon interlude in the garden. It might show up as a quiet moment to paint our nails or a cheeky jump in the pool. All of these moments you will see in today's video, along with much, much more.

Watching this in the morning and realizing that I can either compare my home making to yours and feel discouraged or accept that we are all different and be inspired. So I took 5 minutes to put on a skirt, do my hair, and write this comment. Thank you for the inspiration.

I am an essential healthcare worker and it’s been a very stressful time for me personally. I had a really enjoyable day recently making a scrub and foot soak for several of my friends. They were simple but beautiful and brought me so much pleasure and enjoyment. It was creative and relaxing.

Thank you for another lovely video. A tip I learned from my mother: when you make potato salad mix the mustard, celery seed, other seasonings in with the mayo. That helps distribute all the seasonings evenly throughout the salad. Thanks for all your hard work.
A tip for the potatoes. Once the greenery on top dies back is when you know they are done. And a lot of the potatoes might be more near the surface. ❤️

❤️❤️Just found your videos and I have to say it inspires me for my videos. It’s a Faith based and lifestyle channel but it’s beautiful to be able to show the beauty and satisfaction it can give if you enjoy it. I’m young and most my age see it as a chore but God has showed me the joy and how my home is my first ministry and I find pleasure in it now. Definitely not politically correct say for my generation but it’s the truth and we should embrace it! Submission to our spouses and home is a beautiful thing!

Your older boy also helps around the house and that will be useful in the future.

I love going for a drive to clear my head and just sit in a parking lot. A change of scenery does wonders for my soul. I’ve recently learned to do that since the neighbors of a house I used to enjoy parking by came up to me asking why I’m hanging out there. I realized I became that creepy car nobody recognized. No need to make people feel uncomfortable. Anyway, I really enjoyed your video Jennifer, those high traffic areas never seem to get enough care but that’s okay, we can count on the work to be there. Your shots keep getting better and better and I am embracing these natural everyday sounds, they pair well with the music and inspire me to listen closely in my everyday. Your poems are very touching, you have a lovely gift, I hope you continue to include them, love you🌹

So fun to see you enjoying the pool. We are blessed to have one too especially as we have hit triple digits here in Oklahoma this week. Sometimes I spend too much time cleaning it and not enough time enjoying it!
Discussion / video topic:
I would love a discussion on how you would apply slow/intentional living concepts if you worked a “typical” office job outside of the home. I assume you have daily “office type” tasks such as emails and video editing.
I work as an accountant in a busy office environment. I highly admired the women who rushed around in their heels because they were busy.
However... I since tried to slow down and incorporate routine. I get to the office early to have a morning snack and wipe down my desk. I quickly sort through my emails. But then... I intentionally slow down to read them carefully and concentrate on one task. This resulted in less errors and less stress.
Even at home, before I leave work. I have slowed down. Enjoying tidying and cleaning the counters before I leave for work.
What are your thoughts ? How can women who work outside of the home apply the many concepts you use on a daily basis.

Taking little moments through out the days just for yourself. A moment to enjoy a coffee without interruption, listening to your favorite songs on your way to work, reading in your lunch break... just slowing down and enjoying the moment 💚💚💚
Jocelyn, I lived your life for many years and what you are doing is wonderful!! I wish someone would have taught me to slow down and enjoy little things for myself.
Now older & some “stress” related issues I am learning to enjoy life no matter the day.

Worked for over 4 decades in an office. I learned arriving early was beneficial. Also, a picture in my desk from a vacation, a pretty calendar, Bible verses, spend your lunch break alone in your car, reading a good book, the Bible, or walking alone, or go park overlooking a pond in a park, etc. Alone time was very helpful. Also, I packed my lunch, and every Sun eve, I pulled out my 5 outfits, hose, shoes, and jewelry for each outfit in a ziploc bag clothes pinned to each outfit hanger. Every outfit was checked over so I began each work week with confidence! Best to you all!!

Wonderful video!! I’m a fan of iced coffee too (I live in Florida so it’s a must), my favorite way of making it is via a French press as a cold brew and it can last up for 3 days in the fridge so you can always have it handy
Hi Jennifer really enjoy your vids and your approach to living a rich home life. I have raised 2 boys and my husband and I had a very shared approach to home life ( and still do). This was important to both of us as we wanted to model to our boys a feminist approach to home and family life. We did and continue to do so today share the cooking, cleaning,,washing and ironing, as well as the lawn mowing and gardening we do on our 5 acres. Not all aspects of our home life are shared as we are skilled and have strengths indifferent areas and there are some demarcations along gendered lines. So for us it is a mix but the mix has also been analysed and we have been intentional about doing some things “differently”. We did this with a spirit of generosity. My husband always did his own ironing but if he was in a rush I would do a shirt for him, and he would do the same for me. We now have rich conversations about cooking as this is an interest we share - often around lunch time there is a discussion about what is happening for dinner. Am also very proud of my eldest son as he is the cook in his family and is probably more domesticated than his wife. As we only get a glimpse of your home life via you tube am wondering what your thoughts and habits are around this particularly as you have 2 boys and 2 girls and in the end every family has its own ways of organising itself. What are your hopes and vision for how your children will grow up in terms of gender equality ?

Homemakers can have fun too, yes to that 🙌🏻 This morning we did chores around the house with the whole family and in the afternoon we were hiking on a ‘bare-foot-path’, walking over mudpuddles, sand, stones, plastic bottles, potagers, grass etc. It was so much fun. We ate an apple in the middle of a maze and treated our bare feet with a footbalm. It was a great afternoon for this homemaker and her girls. 💕 Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱

Somehow, watching you clean, play, bake and cook brought back so many memories for me today. My 2 boys are now tall men, with families of their own. I miss these days you are in now, caring for a growing family. It’s not always rosy, there were many bumps along the way. But of course I would not change anything.
My kids do come by often, and my husband and I see them all and I still have them over for meals. I am thankful for that.
Enjoy your family. Being a mother is a holy job. Be thankful that you are blessed with them and you are there to care for them.

If you want cold coffee from the keurig faster I learned from my coffee shop owner friend how to do to. Add the cream first to cool the coffee down and then it only needs to sit for a few seconds to be cool enough to add the ice without it getting watery. This dessert you're making is causing me to 🤤
Yes, you did inspire with this video, Jennifer. I loved it from start to finish! I like the way you include a "parting shot" at the very end of the video. Thank you for including your poetry, which is perfect for your content. You made a lovely bouquet. The walk was a fun addition and the horses a treat to see. Your family is blessed; they have a wonderful example to follow when they are grown and have families. Hopefully, the young women that your sons marry will have watched you, so they have a heads up on what your sons are used to in a wife and mother. :) I like hearing the voices and sounds in the background. I just read your question as to what we do to unwind. I find relaxation in straightening a drawer or cupboard without time pressure, eating out in the yard, and writing a letter or in my journal. Jennifer, I wish I could actually enjoy doing housework, but I don't. I wish I could flip a switch and like it, but the only thing I can do is do the things that need to be done, regardless of the way that I feel. I work (4) 12-hour days as a nurse and although I want my home to look nicer, I don't enjoy the process. I always feel so stressed and worried about getting it all done.
