Good morning Jennifer. I am an older woman and I have watched your channel for over a year now - and I have purchased your books and given them to my adult children. I am an Interior Designer, and a writer (first book coming out in 2025 - very excited), and feel relatable to you as a grandmother or mother would to a beautiful young girl. I have four grown daughters, all married and 8 grand-children who fill my life with love and blessing. I home-schooled all of my girls through 12th grade and they all went on to college and graduate degrees (including MD's). Why am I writing all this? To let you know that you inspire those of us in our late 60's and into 70's and beyond. You are poised and beautiful and elegant and wholesome. I am inspired by your grace. Thank you for all you do - and may the Lord richly bless you in all things. Love you very much.

Before putting my shoes away I always brush with a shoe brush or wipe down with cloth. They're always clean when I go to grab them and I don't have to think about it. Makes mornings one step easier. I also shower at night which so relaxing after the end of the day, and I love going to bed clean.

I used to do ironing daily. Now I’m so lazy, I buy clothes that don’t need ironing.
I am overweight today, and have fallen out of the habit of self care. Self care is an essential skill. I gave up caring how I look. My self esteem is terrible. This is a good reminder for me on some of the basics.

Prioritizing is key for me! If you identify that being overweight is the issue and the root of many problems, try working towards that first. I would say find an activity you're interested in (for me it's dancing) and try to incorporate it once per week and then slowly increase. If you're not even sure which activity, just start walking. Then after you feel like that you've been consistent, try something else example eating habits. For me that's fasting a few times a week or even just skipping meals on busy days. Check with your Dr and I personally noticed I do need to supplement with a multivitamin when fasting .
Imo trying to fix everything at once is a disaster

The biggest thing for me has been showering at night. I wake up clean and ready to go. My no makeup makeup routine is the same as you…tinted sunscreen, eyebrows, mascara, lip balm. A quick but gentle brush through my hair then hair oil. I generally don’t paint my nails but could probably add a clear polish manicure to the routine to look even more put together. Thanks Jennifer!

My mother instilled in us from a young age to pick our outfits the night before. My sister and I would test different pieces together and match earrings or a necklace. It is second nature to me now! We have hooks in the children’s bedrooms to hang their clothing out at night - especially Saturday nights so Sunday mornings are less hectic getting out the door for church!

Same struggle here. What I was doing in the winter time was having an old pair of sweatpants that I hung up in my mudroom and I would wear those to do chores and then change back into my nicer jeans when I got back in the house. A little more effort but I don't fancy smelling like animals all day. 😂 That being said, I did forget sometimes or my sweats needed to be washed so...

I totally understand. I work out in the gym weights, cardo, and stretching which leaves me with wet hair and wet clothes. I also train horses which leaves me with dirty riding breeches, top, and damp hair. I work out in the morning, and the go to the barn. After my morning routine I shower and wash my hair. I refuse to walk around with dirty, sweaty hair. I can always smell hair that is not clean which makes me sick to my stomach even those who use the dry shampoo.

I use the 10-Day forcast and I write this IN PENCIL in my planner. I check the forcast again the night before and update the information if the temperature or something else changes. I put the temperature at the very top of the space by the date and I also write an "R" if rain is likely. I use the very minimal makeup look as well because it is faster. I can't say that I always choose my outfit the night before. I am hit and miss most of the time, so I need to work on being consistent. I wash my hair every 3rd or 4th day which is about 2xs week. Unfortunately, I'm not very talented in giving myself a manicure and I just can't pay for them.

I lay my clothes out the night b4 and do any touch ups on them. I've created the habit that after i wear something i assess whether i need to wash it or just steam it.if it's the latter, i do it right then. It takes a few extra minutes but saves so many headaches the next time i want to wear it.
I've been really working on a Le no Makeup look.. one day, i had a dr appointment, errands to run and a facial. So i had nice dress, jewelry, , fixed my hair but only filled in my brows and wore lipstick--i couldn't believe all the compliments i received 🤔🤔so maybe i don't need a full face makeup everyday..
Still working on my shoes.. blessings xoxo Stacie

I like to pick 5 outfits for the work week and then grab the one I’m feeling that day or that goes with the weather! (I do look at the weather for the week and consider my activities when picking those 5, too.) my 5 year old son and I have also started a routine where I show him two options and he picks the one I wear 😊
Since it’s warm now and for my hair type blow drying and straightening would be wasted, I started a hair science experiment (there is a chart and field notes) to see which combo of products gets me my best curly hair!

I always clean and check my shoes before they go back in my closet. In summertime this includes a wipe down of the footbed of my sandals to remove any dirt or perspiration. Since it’s hot, humid and mosquito filled I wear a lot of linen. Daily makeup is some light foundation with sunscreen, blush and lipstick, never underestimate the power of lipstick. As others have said showering and washing my hair at night is and was a huge timesaver. I too, only wash my hair twice a week.

So many great tips here, Jennifer. I prefer natural nails and I’m lucky to have strong nails that look good without anything on them. However, I wasn’t always good at cutting them at the right time, so they would grow too long and break. Now I make sure I have a proper routine for it and I can be proud of how they look.

Yes, I can't do long nails with my eczema. I try to cut them every 4-5 days. But I have heard acrylic nails help with eczema, but haven't tried it myself.
I will try to paint my nails one time/month. But that hasn't been happening for quite a while now due to life. I try to avoid toenails unless it's a special occasion because imo constantly painted nails can lead to yellowing. I must be unique though as chipped nails actually don't bother me unlike others and just let the paint wear off on its own

I shower first thing. I wash my hair with natural conditioner daily and let it air dry even though I wear a human hair wig. My hair is natural curly, kinky, frizzy! So I wear a gorgeous human hair straight wig that I put sponge rollers in the night before. I’ll using a curling iron on a few pieces. But it’s quick.

Thank you for sharing . I love this video . I love that you mentioned shoe care , I cannot recall seeing a video of someone I’ve seen talking about the care of..the style to match an outfit but not the care of your shoes .
I have to say that the colour of the top or dress you are wearing is perfect for you and also the navy . I have noticed before when you wear the strong jewel colours it makes your complexion extra radiant .

I don’t like to iron and have trouble making the time until it’s the last minute and I need to wear something. So one thing I am trying to do is forcing myself to iron 2 to 3 dresses/outfits on the weekend when I do it it helps the morning routine a lot.

I would love to be at this level but with 3 kids 5 and under, I don't know how. The other day I was still in my nightgown when my neighbor came to the door and I was so embarrassed, I just stayed upstairs doing laundry while my husband answered the door and it's been bothering me ever since that I must have seemed so rude. Sadly, my haircare routine is washing it and putting it up in a topknot while it's still wet. I did manage to put on mascara before going on our walk today though 👍🤦‍♀️

    • @21972012145525
      @21972012145525 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

That's ok. Nothing embarrassing about that at all. The neighbor doesn't know what he doesn't know. You could've been in the bathroom, showering, taking nap, not home, etc. don't worry about it!
Combing hair is more important than putting on mascara. So start there! when you got time

I've watched you over the years and have read your books. At 66, I have always been so impressed by your ability to romantisize/create such a life. Which brings me to a reminder of one of my "influencers" as a young mother and homemaker, (before you tube.)Her name is Sarah Ban Breathnach and she wrote a best seller, titled SIMPLE ABUNDANCE. A DAYBOOK OF COMFORT AND JOY. I highly recommend this book to you. It is filled with gems centered on gratitude, simplicity, order, harmony, beauty, and joy, as it relates to women creating ones life and home environment. You will find a kindred spirit in her writings.

As far as the laundry goes… I feel I have to do at least one load of towels, washcloths, kids clothes things that are soiled, or else they get quite disgusting if I wait a few days and even risk getting other items mildewed… Anyone else have this problem? I have a question! Is it possible to look put together & polished while dressing in the Granola Girl aesthetic?
My style has changed drastically since having my 5th baby two months ago. I used to dress very Bohemian Preppy with A-line silhouettes, but now with my body changing so much this pregnancy I am embracing the Granola Girl style with its practical, durable, outdoorsy, “effortless” natural style.
I still shower at night every night and wash my hair 1x a week; I wash my clothes and delicate and hang dry every week; I lay out 3-5 outfits hanging in my closet so I can “grab and go” each morning, but my makeup routine has become the most minimal “Le no Makeup look” I have ever done (concealer, face powder, bronzer on cheekbones and eyelids, blush).
Is it possible to look “polished” while wearing oversized National Parks tees, Birkenstock sandals, and linen joggers/or a flowy cotton maxi skirt?? I have been loving oversized tee shirts from The Mountain - I had always admired them but never given myself permission to wear them. I found a few on Poshmark, and they are so durable when I am getting baby spit up all over me 😂

You can wear anything! But when I read your comment, I question why oversized T-shirt? Why not a T-shirt in your size? 😊 Ahh I went back and read, you found on Poshmark and double as a bib 😅 sounds fine to me! Just make sure to change if you're leaving the house if it's to dirty or smelly! Fresh clean clothes are a must! ❤

I struggle with my hair being unmanageable when not showering. Due to severe eczema, im unable to shower daily. My hair is much more presentable when its styled wet after showering. When i comb and style it dry, its crazy flyaways and baby hairs, frizz, and i constantly have to keep redoing my ponytail.
Does anyone else struggle with this? It makes me feel messy even though im not. Any suggestions or recommendations?

What a waste of time...being chic is overrated (and I'm French). How about taking that time you spend thinking anout being chic and polished and use it to be your self! Be funny, be colourful, be sensual, be intelligent, feed your mind, feed your soul. Be compassionate. All that talk of elevating yourself is just a disgused way of showing you are superior. Be caring and loving and educate your mind so you can be free to make deciions, not to be above others.
