    There was one fact that are missing for this episode, so I have to throw it as an honorable mention.
    1. The original soundtrack to “A Hard Day’s Night” released in 1964 on United Artists Records which was the only label that the Beatles put out on a different label. It features songs from the movie including “Tell Me Why”, “And I Love Her”, “I Should’ve Known Better”, “And I Fell”, and “I’ll Cry Instead”. All of them were hits from the film, including a few original scores by George Martin including “Ringo’s Theme”, an instrumental version of “This Boy”, and few instrumental versions of other Beatles hits which were made for the soundtrack.
    2. The movie “A Hard Day’s Night” was released in the US by United Artists, the company that made the James Bond franchise.
    3. A few songs from “A Hard Day’s Night” are featured on the US album “Something New” on the Capitol label.

    "A Hard Day's Night" is right after "A Day In The Life" alphabetically in the Beatles' catalogue. The last chord of "A Day In The Life" is the same one as the first chord of "A Hard Day's Night". We can also suppose that the aforementionned "hard day's night" is the night of "the day in the life".

    One fact about this album that you didn’t include is, not only was the original 1964 US album NOT the same as its UK counterpart, but it was on the United Artists label, NOT Capitol. It was typical for the UK albums to be redone for the US; but it was usually Capitol that did this. After losing this soundtrack album (though Capitol did place The Beatles’ film songs on “Something New”, their third release), Capitol made sure that they had the soundtrack album for “Help”-with the same format of Beatles songs and instrumentals from the film that UA had used for their Hard Day’s Night soundtrack album.

      -John had bad eye sight.
      -John idolize Buddy Holly of Buddy Holley and the Crickets (like Johnny and the silver Beetles) who composed his own songs, unlike other singers at that time.
      Most of the time John wears Horned rimmed glass, like the ones Buddy wears.

    • @Marathonman2043
      @Marathonman2043 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      After the Beatles US tour of 1966, John took a role in the movie How I Won the War. He played a WW II soldier. For the part he got his hair cut and was issued the National Health style glasses. At that time, he was fed up with both the lovable mop-top Beatles image and the aggravation with contact lenses. Keeping the glasses full time seemed to be good solution to both.

    • @robertvaughn6646
      @robertvaughn6646 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Marathonman2043
      @Marathonman2043 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertvaughn6646 According to several sources, he did. Among them are Steve Turner’s book about their lives in 1966. Another, although less reliable, is Peter Brown’s book, the love you make. I remember reading someplace else (source forgotten) that because contacts were far from user friendly, he had trouble with them. For example, they would fall out at some of the worst times. I’m guessing that he started after they met Brian Epstein, since Brian was the type who would have suggested it and made it happen.

    The chord is a G9sus. it is voiced in a cool way but the chord itself is pretty standard. What makes it interesting is how it's used. More on that in a second. There is a D in the bass but there is also a low G in the piano. The bass guitar isn't playing the root. The piano is.
    The F add 9 in the guitars function as the top of the chord, and the G and D in the piano and bass function as the bottom. From bottom to top, it's G, D(which is loud because of the bass guitar fundamental), F G A C. All together that's root(G), fifth(D), root(G), seventh(F), ninth(A), sus4(C).
    What makes this cool is the fact that the song is in G major, so it goes from G9sus which usually functions as a 5 chord resolving to C major, to a G major. So it's a dominant sus chord resolving to itself. A slick little composition move.
    Don't get bogged down with what each individual player is playing. Just listen for function. It's clear as day this is a sus chord. People tend to mythologize and overcomplicate this.

    One fact often overlooked in the title song is Ringo's embellishments. If you listen closely, he does a steady pattern on bass drum, snare and open hi-hat. But he overdubbed two parts that give the song a real kick. Bongos and a cowbell drive the tune forward like crazy!

    KILLIN' IT WITH THE ALBUM VIDEOS!!! I'm gonna go ahead & take credit for this even tho it probably had nothing to do with me but I asked you to do videos about the albums in comments a while ago so go me. lol jk,, it's all you broodaw, & your excellent researcher buddy!!! Part about Ringo walking by the river made me laugh! I love Ringo... incidentally I somehow JUST discovered "It don't come easy"!!! Pseu Braun(I think) on wfmu played like ten different versions of that song and I happened to be driving around at the time and it was glorious. Great song. Speaking of, if you are reading this for some reason... Please concider doing some videos on the Beatles' solo albums if you haven't thought of that already which I have no doubt you have because... it's obvious. Maybe you already have lol I should probably check. But I'd love to see those... particularly the early solo ones(Ram & All Things Must Pass especially but really any of them)... also maybe do some videos about the Beatles' relationships with various other musicians? Like Harry Nillson, Rolling Stones, Brian WIlson, BIlly Preston & of course George Martin to name a few? Just throwing some ideas out there realize you probably can't read all the comments & have probably thought of this stuff on your own anyway haha. Anyway great video & I still don't really understand how you're putting them out so fast recently haha guess you had some stockpiled/in the works for a while. YAY!!! also "Four Boys in the Wind" lol... so French. & deal, no problem for me to keep enjoying them, that's a given!!!

    ...and also the harmonica intro to "I Should've Known Better" drops out at 5 seconds on the stereo album...but not the mono. Shows how more attention was given to the mono versions back then.

    In Brazil it was not "The kings of Lê Lê Lê", it is "The kings of iê iê iê", you probably have seen it with a capital "i".
    The thing is that rock music in Brazil was also called "iê-iê-iê" in the 1960s. It's just "yeah yeah yeah" in a portuguese form), probably because of the song "She loves you".
    A fun fact is that there is an advertise on brazilian TV (it was created in 1970s but it is still shown on brazilian TV) for a company that works with pest control. It is an animation of insects playing instruments, having a party, and a song playing over. The first line of this song says: "the little bug dancing the iê-iê-iê..." XD

    Next time you watch the film watch out for the flat grey guitar cases in the background whilst their playing. A small one and a slightly larger one. They're the cases for John's Rickenbacker 325 and George's Rickenbacker 360/12.

    FWIW, in the documentary "You Can't Do That," producer Walter Shenson takes credit for suggesting Ringo's phrase "A Hard Day's Night" as the title of the film and coming up with the subject of the song. (Success has a million fathers.)

    On the making of Hard Days Night, and other places they have repeatedly said Hard Days Night was written overnight by Paul and John after they were told they needed a title song after the movie was almost completed. The version here I've never heard ever.

    Back then, in Brasil, the kind of music they made was classified as "Iê Iê Iê" (Beacuse of the song "She loves you", where they scream "yeah" tree times). The cover in Brasil is also orange instead of blue. Probably the marketing people thought that making theese changes to the album would make it sell more...

    You forgot to mention HDN was the first Beatle LP to be recorded on a mulit-track unit. All tracks were recorded on a 4 track unit. All the songs on the stereo LP are spacious and centered vocals, as compared to All of Please Please Me and almost all of With the Beatles, that have the songs with vocals right, backing track left. Also, Can't Buy Me Love was NOT recorded in England, but in all places in Frances

    The phrase Yeah, Yeah, Yeah was often used by older celebrities like Dean Martin, Sinatra as a form of mockery back then. They were referred to as that yeah, yeah band.

    I remember reading that each of the Beatles got a solo scene but Paul overacted his so badly that the director had to remove it, hence why we don't see him meet some random stranger like the others.
