    14:59 Dutch fighter like their punch combos and low kicks. Nieky Holzken and Andy Souwer are also good examples of this.

    If you feel like watching some contemporary/modern kickboxers, then Sitthichai, Tenshin Nasukawa and Takeru Segawa (my favorite fighter) are worth watching. They're the number 1, 2 and 3 kickboxers of the modern era. Chingiz Allazov is also an awesome fighter worth checking out.
    Edit: Takeru Segawa is also scheduled to fight Rodtang on 28. January (though there are rumors that Rodtang might pull out due an to injury to his left arm)

    5:43 If you want to watch fighters with amazing head kicks then you should check out Peter Aerts and Superbon (who's also Buakaw's protegé).

    If you like guys with amazing low kicks then you should check out Andy Hug (one of the best karate fighters of all time) , Rob Kaman, Joseph Valtellini and Liam Harrison. I think Verhoeven also has great low kicks but I haven't seen much of him.

    18:07 Cro Cop actually knocked out Bob Sapp later by breaking his orbital bone (the bone around the eye), which ended up in Sapp throwing most of his fights later in his career.

    15:32 I think Cro Cop's ribs were broken in the previous fight (since this is a one-night tournament after all)

    • @WashedOlympian
      @WashedOlympian  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The one night tournament is insane! Break your ribs, win, and move on to the next round to fight again! What warriors 🫣

    4:51 The 4-man tournament already happened in 2023, with Tariq Osaro becoming the winner as well as the interim-Heavyweight champ after beating Antonio Plazibat. He sadly had a bad (many even say the worst ever) performance against Rico Verhoeven (the greatest post-K-1 heavyweight kickboxer). The 8-man Grand Prix is happening this year and will have the best Glory HW fighters (except Jamal Ben Saddik) in it.

  • @someboi4903
    @someboi4903 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    3:35 He's who most people consider the GOAT at heavyweight, though Semmy Schilt and Peter Aerts are also worth mentioning as HW GOAT candidates. I don't really enjoy HW kickboxing as much and the Golden Age heavyweight fighters are relatively popular in the community, so I never really bothered mentioning them.

    • @WashedOlympian
      @WashedOlympian  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So heavyweight division in Kickboxing and Muay Thai aren't enjoyed as much compared to boxing? 🤔

    • @someboi4903
      @someboi4903 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WashedOlympian Personally enjoy watching heavyweights less overall across all combat sports (though I wouldn't mind watching 70s-80s era HW boxing).
      I don't think heavyweight Muay Thai even exists in Thailand. The talent pool in Muay Thai sucks above 70 kilos I hear.

    10:46 well ufc fighter dustin porier said when you get low kicked on your calf there is nowhere to swell ony your calf so basically it can't swell and that causes crazy pain ofc this is by professional fighters it hurts much more

      Kickboxers and Nak Muay usually kick the thigh instead of the calf though.

    • @Darksouls565
      @Darksouls565 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@someboi4903 but it's better to kick the calf and the thighs in my opinion calf can easily do more damage since there is no swelling in your calf so extra painful it's just better to mix them up obviously you need to be careful you don't snap your shin like Anderson silva 👍

    • @someboi4903
      @someboi4903 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Darksouls565 Kickboxers and Nak Muay are in a better position to check calf kicks because they're lighter on their lead foot (kickboxers less so however) than MMA fighters, as well as a narrower stance, so the elite strikers haven't really used the technique in the sport. Kicks to the thigh are also more difficult to check, since the shin would have to be raised, as opposed to the calf kick, where you could simply turn your shin outward (like Aldo did in one of his more recent fights).
      It has been spreading to kickboxing too though. Strikers like Yuki Yoza, Ouyang Feng and Liu Ce have started using them with great success, so we might see some new ways to defend or set-up the kick as time goes on.
