Johto wasn’t INTENDED to have two regions in it, it was only considered partway through development when one of the programmers (I think it was Iwata?) realised he could optimise the region to make it small enough to fit. Johto’s problem wasn’t “there wasn’t enough time”, it was “our criteria changed midway through development” - something that the OW2 devs will gladly tell you is a fucking arsepain
Actually, they did change the capture mechanics in gen 8. Before you complete the main storyline, it is harder to catch pokémon that are higher leveled than the pokémon you're battling with. I believe raid battles work differently, but this applies to every regular wild capture.
The friend ball is OP for getting Crobat early. I think it evolves at 220 friendship so if you catch a zubat or golbat, you only have to raise it a few levels. That and the Lure ball are definitely the only ones worth using. Speaking of weird catching mechanics in Gen 2, if one of the legendary dogs uses Roar, it counts as the battle ending and not a flee. So if they roar you away, they are gone forever. The burn heal/moon ball is fucking hilarious tho
This makes me want to see patterz do a Full Item Randomizer of Crystal. FIR Randomizes ALL of the items in the game INCLUDING Badges. You can find a badge on a tree if you're lucky
I unironicly hope n pray we get a bunch of new poke balls in the coming generations I personally would love it if we got balls for the other stone evos Hell like give us like 3-5 new stone evos for each stone and if anything they can reuse some ball capsule animations from bdsp and just work it better

The heavy ball is not broken in Gen7. According to its original intended coding, it shouldn't catch a wild Beldum for whatever reason. That's not broken, it's just whoever thought Beldum is heavy does not have enough Pokemon knowledge. You weren't supposed to catch Beldum with a Heavy Ball.
I mean exactly. Y do so many people think Beldum is heavy? Even in the pokedata it clearly states that it is 209 lbs n heavy ball is supposed to work on Pokemon that r 220 lbs n heavier. 🤔
@@SIDASOKA In Gen 7 and 8, people don't use the Apricorn balls for their "intended" use. The vast majority of Apricorn ball discussion I see nowadays is about using them to catch shinies with matching colour schemes regardless of what they're supposed to be used for.
While working as coded, it is odd. In every game except Sun and Moon, if a Heavy Ball reduction causes a negative number, the catch rate is set to 1. In Sun and Moon, it sets it to 0 instead

The Burn heal makes a lot more sense when you realise it's Item ID Was the same Item ID as Moonstones in Gen 1
Guessing that the Moon Ball was programmed much early in the game's development before they switched up the IDs.

Yes, it was indeed Iwata that cracked out a new compression algorithm that let them fit a whole (smaller) Kanto in!
