    Regarding Moths, the reason that they seem so suicidal is actually because of human interference. They instinctively use light sources as navigation sources, typically in crepuscular times (Dawn and Dusk), when the sun is not moving as much. However, they can't tell the difference between the sun and a lamppost or fire, so they just circle around those light sources because they are confused by them.

      @@grilcheezloverhonestly firearms should be nerfed, they are usually pretty easy to get, while also being extremely powerful. I think they should bring back the old version of firearms where they were less accurate, less powerful, and slower to use, or even remove them entirely. In the current version firearms are just too overpowered. The only thing that can compete with a firearm user is another firearm user.

    • @Celestia282
      @Celestia282 2 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      That has nothing to do with a beetle's defenses and is entirely just physics. It's the old saying: the bigger you are, the harder you fall. All insects are so small that they hit the ground with almost no force. Even other small animals have this ability. Anything squirrel size and below takes no fall damage, even at terminal velocity.

    While you are correct that ants, bees and wasps are picked due to their high popularity, it's also what's making them so strong.
    Since they gain the passive ability "Colonizing", they gain a multiplier to their attack, intelligence and speed when near a team group, catering to new players, gaining more popularity and therefore increasing the efficiency and power of this types of insects.
    This however brings the major drawback of the passive status "Loneliness", which causes the insects speed, attack, defense, and intelligence to be halved and locks all abilities and attacks when separated from a team group.
    This causes a easy to learn insect for new players, but causes other insects to be pushed out of the meta, causing the "Extinction" state, permanently deleting all data on that insect, making the meta more and more skewered to the favor of ants, bees and wasps.

      I thought "colony" players were playing the RTS integration and expansion, where they're playing as the whole colony instead of a single entity, with their actual player character being the queen ant, wasp, bee, ect.
      I mean I've seen at least 100 new colonies around my job mini game location... One of which I've been rather shamelessly using as an inventory cleaner for my leftovers or bits of lunch that I don't need or can't save for later, giving them a rather unfair advantage over the other colonies around the area thanks to the constant supply drops but my point still stands, surely every single ant can't be an individual player right?
      Oh God I'm not gonna be reported for allowing a favoritive exploit for players of other factions am I?

    0:52 Apparently the reason why a female mantis eats a male mantis during the mating process is because it provides them with the nutrients it needs for her and her offspring to survive.
    Especially in the case were the female has not had a sufficient meal but not all pray mantises eat their mates.

    • @OneFatLizard
      @OneFatLizard 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Praying mantises rarely eat their partner in the wild breeding in captivity adds alot of stressors that contribute to them commiting canabilisim.

  • @Ryodraco
    @Ryodraco 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    For what it's worth, female mantis eating the male during or after mating is not nearly as common as some people think. Mantis are cannibalistic in general, males just tend to be smaller than females and if the female rejects or does not recognize his advances, she's liable to just eat him the same way he would if he had the opportunity and was not trying to mate. If they actually do mate then he has a good chance of surviving. Early studies are mantis breeding were flawed because the researchers did not give captive mantises the opportunities for courtship and escape that they have in the wild.

    Since I know someone's going to be confused regarding bug terminology, I wanted to clarify some things.
    "Bug" and "Insect" do not mean the same thing. An insect is a type of bug. Bugs can include insects, arachnids, etc. Insects and arachnids are otherwise not related.
    Likewise, "Arachnid" and "Spider" are not the same thing. All spiders are arachnids, but not all arachnids are spiders. Scorpions are also an example of arachnids.
    Also, for those questioning what the deal is with hornets being absent, they weren't. Hornets are a type of wasp.

    I am surprised fleas did not get a mention in the tier list. The flea build has an insanely high defense stat that not even a human build can break it with the Squeeze attack, I tried it myself, and my father even tried equipping a hammer for extra damage for invading players in my family's old base before I started playing, but the hammer proved ineffective against the fleas' strong armor.
    Also I got really bad rng recently and got afflicted by a cold debuff right after the Christmas event, and even though I have consumed several stacks of Hot Tea for healing, its effect persists still now. It must not have many layers left, I have quests to do for my guild in 3 days to level up my Chemistry skill so I can advance to the higher level daily quests with better rewards, at least once I find quest givers willing to hire me.
    Such bad rng to get the cold debuff just as the new expansion begins, I hate this game sometimes.

    35:28 it's almost like the gameplan is centered around the whole playerbase and is dependent on it.

    11:09 Cockroaches are not hard to kill; just get a tissue, catch it, and crush it in your hand, and if you're too much of a wuss to do that, just grab something heavy and crush it with that.

    If you haven't yet you should watch his full video on eusociality to see the real reason why bees and ants are rated so highly. Eusociality completely breaks the game by changing the quest objectives for most of the players. Most factions have mating as their highest value quest objective because that what keeps the faction alive. But by modifying the way the genetic math works, eusociality makes it so that most players of those factions have keeping the queen alive as their highest quest objective, so they're willing to unquestioningly lay down their own lives in pursuit of that objective.

    3:51 this is a damselfly, not a dragonfly. That's why the eyes are different. And I'm pretty sure like with manyises, the dot you see is just an illusion.

    Moths are way cuter than butterflies. All the beauty is in their soft, fluffy features, round heads a big black eyes.

    I would like to report a bug: when i play as my personal favourite pigeon build i try to enter humans hideaways via these holes around wooden frames but there is some kind of invisible wall stopping me i think the devs mucked up the wooden frame hit box to cover the middle hole thats supposed to be an entrance
    Someone needs to fix this.

    Bees are certainly on the same tier as wasps and ants, though not combat wise. Their pollination ability is so proficient that many plants depend on bee mains to spread their pollen, and many other animals depend on these plants. This can include other insects, which means bee mains are responsible for supplying many herbivore mains their food.
