What a great cover of a classic song. They have introduced this old 80's song to a group of young people that may have never heard it or would have never given it a chance good job guys.

Don't you think the 80's kind of sucked for music? I remember all the garbage being pushed. This isn't an example of it, but remember Def Leopard, Asia? Michael Jackson? Madonna? I don't miss what was played on the radio at all. I'm wrinkling my nose at just the thought of it. Quiet Riot? So much garbage was shoved down our throats.
Maybe one of the top covers of all time. Vocal ranges and harmonics are incredibly challenging here. Serious respect for this. Well done.

It won't happen. Rock bands just don't have the clout anymore. Imagine Dragons, the biggest band in the world right now, might get asked to do it, but they'll have to share the stage with a pop star or stars like Coldplay had to when they played the Super Bowl.

Man, I've always been a huge Weezer fan and have known how amazing they are, but man... This is by far the finest cover of Africa, a very technical song, that I've ever heard. Phenomenal harmonies, and Rivers' voice just gets better and better as he gets older. Unbelievable! I'd love to o hear them cover Rosanna.

This is a very hard song to perform let alone make it sound good. 3 part harmonies are killing it. Key signature changes etc... I'm impressed

@@geraldhartley I don't reckon they are backing tracks. The harmonies aren't perfect every time and each chorus is different. Could be wrong though. Or maybe these have been polished up in the studio. I don't think so though. Weezer are usually pretty on point whenever I've seen them live.
I'm pretty sure they're not backing tracks. But they're all using pitch correcting technology.
It sounds like they do have a backing track just at a lower volume (especially during last chorus when there are the vocal "solos" like the higher harmony "I bless the rains" part) but the main vocal parts do sound live -- especially for the bass player since it sounds great even though the pitch ain't perfect the mix on his backing vocal is a bit higher than Rivers' main vocal
@@DrRyan Definite proof of keyboard backing tracks at 2:39. Adding some vocal sweetening to the track is very easy from there. They do sound great though.

So much more to this band then what meets the eye...they are very talented and write brilliant songs, and can knock any cover tune right outta the ball park !!!
I'm not a huge fan of this song or their cover of it, but I think probably the coolest and most impressive part of this particular performance is those incredible vocal harmonies during the chorus. To fully appreciate how awesome they are wear headphones.

Although I'm not too warm on this, I do have to admit, the harmonies on the choruses are truly amazing, it's like soaring vocals that are truly something special, it makes me miss Weezer. Maybe someday they'll comeback, and stop being a shell of their former selves.

I saw Weezer's music video for the song and it is very nice, a worthy tribute to the original. The song really is superb. I like the drum intro. The chimes have a very nice sound. There's not excessive overpowering during fortissimo, either by drums or guitar.
The band is sharp. I grew up in the day where live performances by bands in general frequently had questionable audio. Production of live performances seems to be far better after decades of improvement in technology and technique.
So glad you took the little girls advice and covered this classic song!
