I got this chip for $199 with a free ASUS motherboard from Microcenter. I couldn't pass that deal up. I have a ryzen 3800 build that I built a few years ago. I spent most of my day building the PC. Tomorrow I marry up the RTX 3070 to this new rig, and load it up. I just ran out of time today. But man, what a hell of a deal. I wasn't planning on building a new PC, but I couldn't pass up the deal at this price, and got suckered into buying a 3070 while I was at it, and a Lian Lang case. I spent more overall than I was planning, but I love building new PCs. My other ryzen build has an RTX 3080. Well, two nice video cards and PC's after waiting over 2 years for GPU prices to go down. I'm using the intel build for my living room. I need to update the Ryzen 3800x to a 5700x or the 3d version to keep my AM4 build relevant for the next few years.
I am waiting delivery of mine and bought the MSI Z590 Meg Ace for the added Lightningbolt 4 connections (2 Ext. & 1 Int. to my cases built-in jack. Mine wasn't bad pricing for a cpubenchmark avg score of 24871 not overclocked, but I didn't get a board selection at twice the price, DDR5 memory shortages and pricing, or being Microsoft's free guinea pig for Window 11: as any 12th Gen chips force me into!!! It's always best to be down wind from the state-of-the-fart anyway, lmao!
Since I switched to a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 I have to really try hard to get it above 65C. That's running Turbo Boost Max 3 and TVB wide open. With a Hyper 212 EVO V2 it would bump against my self-imposed 85C limit all the time when doing heavy multithreading (mostly processing raw photos). Cooling really does make a difference. You need a cooler that can handle 200+ Watt peak loads.

Didn't plan to buy an I7 Gen 11, wanted to go for a I3 12100f - I5 12400f next spring... so a little over budget now.
I’m trying to decide between the 11700k and a 10850k. I already have a Z590 Aorus Ultra and both of the CPU’s are gonna be bought in used bundles. The 10850k has a Z490 pro carbon board and 32gb ram (that id move over) and the 17700k is using a Z590-p board and 64gb of ram. The bundles are the same price…which would y’all choose?
So if you gonna b video editing then go with the IGPu variant of 11th gen simply coz 12th gen got them same IGPu n they can do export times that no 5900x can match. Kind of like how M1s r so crazy good at exports..but on intel. Checkout DaVinci Resolve from PugetBench. Go with 12400/12600K for recouping better resale value later.
You're comparing Skylake vs. Cypress Cove and noting the IPC uplift, yet the 9900K is not the newest Skylake chip. Also, you've overclocked the 11700K. A fair comparison would be the 10700K vs. 11700K at stock speeds. There's lots of reviews that show there's barely - if any - gain. I think a more interesting video would've been to compare stock 11700K with all-core 5GHz overclocked 11700K.
That’s true. I should have noted that it was the most recent skylake chip I have :p. Kind of a brain zap on my part, however either way, Skylake is still Skylake. Instruction support remained mostly unchanged. All that was changed was the dimensions of the die, which allowed for improved thermal headroom and higher clocks. I understand what you are saying! Edit: I also want to add that the i9-9900k was clocked to 5GHz all core, as was the 11700k!
@@ProceuTech that explains, indeed we don't all have all generations of Intel CPUs laying around 🙂 Still, I liked how your video went a bit more in-depth about Cypress Cove. As I said, it would be interesting to explore some more about the behavior of the chip. For instance, I'm currently using a i7-12700F, and what's curious is how the frequencies drop when it gets hot, yet it draws the same amount of power. So apparently, it starts wasting power as it gets hot. In comparison, I've got a i7-8086K that sticks to the same frequency & wattage, no matter if it's close to its thermal limits. The Rocket Lake chips must also have their own peculiarities, which don't show up in benchmarks geared towards maximum performance.
Dad here, how do you get such high frame rates? Do these show on your monitor or is it just what the pc is running at? Sorry for my lack of tech know how. The reason I ask is because I’ve got my son this chip and he has a 144-165hz monitor
this is a very good CPU and I mean very. I use it for 3d modeling and rendering ( 3ds max and corona renderer. CPU based) as I'm typing this I have 2 instances or 3ds max rendering scenes while working on another project in ArchiCAD and no lag at all inside the NZXT h510 case🤣. I have 32GB ram and I don't have a GPU. and it's connected to a 4k monitor. max temp recorded at the moment 77C

I currently have a 10400 in an ASrock Steel Legend B560 board, the cooler is a Cosrair 240 size AIO (way OTT i know) i would like to upgrade to either a 11700 or 11900, price difference here is just abour £30. Is the 11900 worth it over the 11700 considering how similar they are in price. Id also like to upgrade the storage to Gen 4. the Steel Legend board wont allow any M.2 in the first slot and I think this is due to the fact my cpu is a 10th gen which doesnt support 4th gen M.2, is that right?
The 11700 performs identically in 99% of scenarios thanks to power and temperature limits. I’d go with the i7 just to save a little money, then reinvest the saved money into another component like ram. Edit: yes the 11th gen are the first Intel CPUs to support PCIe gen 4!
I actually have mine set to max out at 175W when in PL1 after posting this review! The performance is almost identical, and temps improved a decent amount.
what is the ideal temperature for an i7 11700k? I have a 240 water cooler and in Warzone it is 65 to 75. Can I rest assured or would it be better to change my water cooler?

I would go for the 11700k. It has PCI-e 4.0, higher IPC, and also features a 3200 MHz memory controller as opposed to the 2933 MHz controller found on the 10700k! The 11700k is a more powerful chip than the 10700k.
@@ProceuTech Why is it that quite a few gaming tests from early 2021 show that 10700K is faster.. Or has the performance of 11700K improved after several BIOS-updates?

the hate is just BS from idiot influencers and fanboys. All reviewers have gone out of their way to make it look bad with their comparisons, always choosing a competitor that does better at one thing. Looking at the package the 11th gen is a great cpu if you want to do more then just fragging in games at a silly 500fps...
On the "Tweeker" tab of the BIOS, Set CPU Upgrade to 'Advanced', Enable XMP, go into 'Advanced CPU Settings' and turn on Turbo Boost and Turbo Boost Max, and you'll be at 4.9GHz without any real tinkering at all. Make sure your memory XMP settings are correctly read by the BIOS, enter them manually if not. Be sure you have a strong cooling solution that can handle 200+ Watts TDP. The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE is probably the best deal around for a 200W+ cooler.
I7 11 gen have PCI 4.0 specially on Nwme 4.0 have very good perfomance and speed in the GPU the PCI 4.0 in games you have no very difference maybe 5 fps
Depends on what you want to use them for. The 10700K has a slight edge in single thread applications like most games. But for multithreading applications like photo or video editing there's no comparison, the 11700K blows it out of the water.
i think it's because the reviewers don't like it going back to 14nm, which is just theory , they all get baked at the same process , but they all call it with a different indicator, 7nm amd = 10/14nm intel. Established reviewer idiots who think they have leverage with intel by breaking them down, lol. They have a million subscribers and they think they have become god or something who can demand things from their idols, and dictate their followers. The youtube ministers and their faith channels....that's what the big channels have become.

i have this CPU and its great i can overclock it to 5.0GHz (all core) with 240mm AIO getting 82C
11700k(f) and rocket lake in general is extremely good value atm, 11600k, 6600xt/6700xt b560 32gb 3200-4000 oc ram is a damn stongvalue rn for under 1k
Got myself an 11700KF combined with MSI Z590 tomahawk wifi and 32 Gb 3200Mhz ram. I'm loving it. Temps at idle are around 30/31C, playing games it barely gets over 60-65C when i'm at ambient 20C room temp. My 3060Ti is always idling at 26/27C and almost never gets over 60C when playing games. I'm rocking the Noctua NH-D15 Chomax black and that thing is super silent and cools my cpu perfectly. 40% fan speed idling, you don't even hear it. On full load stress test it sits around 72-75c(depending what test i run). Hate deserved ? Hell no.
@@schreursalain2968 I'm getting about the same thermal performance out of a Thermalright PA 120 cooler on a Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Master.
I upgraded from a 6th gen Skylake to this chip right when it came out. Moved to an m2 for the first time on a high-end Z590 board, and I was able to re-use my 64GB of PC3200 RAM just fine. It was a huge upgrade. I keep it cool to about ~70C under load in a Lian Li Lan Cool 2 with Noctua single fan cooler and 5 case fans. Coupled with an RTX 3080, this is a great work and gaming system. Sure, the 12th and 13th gen are better, but then again, that is always the case. Overall, I am happy with this chip and also don't get all the hate.
Do you play any games in 4k
I got the i7 11700k in august for $300 at microcenter. Because I new I didn't want to buy a highend premium z690 board with ddr5. To get the features I wanted. I also new that the alderlake cpu's will have problems even with some games I care about. I have the z590 ace. I also managed to get the 3090 to pare with it. Currently I have 64gb of ram. I plan on getting 128gb for 3d work and video editing and sound editing. 64gb is barely enough for what I do. I have the nh-u12s on it too. Gets hot most definitely.
I own the 12600k and benchmarks even at stock, SUCK !!! My 5600G benches better.
NOW I got a STEAL at a 11700k. I just need to know, if it functions like the 9900k....if so, then I'm happy. Buttttttttttt the 12th Gen Intel for me, sucked and I have to figure out....what am I gonna do with it ?
Dang 64GB ain't enough for your 3D work? What does more RAM help?
I need to update the Ryzen 3800x to a 5700x or the 3d version to keep my AM4 build relevant for the next few years.
wtf
I am waiting delivery of mine and bought the MSI Z590 Meg Ace for the added Lightningbolt 4 connections (2 Ext. & 1 Int. to my cases built-in jack. Mine wasn't bad pricing for a cpubenchmark avg score of 24871 not overclocked, but I didn't get a board selection at twice the price, DDR5 memory shortages and pricing, or being Microsoft's free guinea pig for Window 11: as any 12th Gen chips force me into!!! It's always best to be down wind from the state-of-the-fart anyway, lmao!
Awesome channel, top quality content, you deserve 100 times the subscribers, keep it up!
If you don't overclock, it never seems to go above 80c with a modest rad. With the normal overclock, under loads in games, it can get toasty.
Get a good cooler with an insane heat sync.
This cpu sure is a good value these days. Gaming performance is very good. And is more stable than the 13 and 14th gen
Seeing a lot of people took up that microcenter “black friday” / month of November sale. In the ad i had it was the 11700k with an asus tuf z590+ wifi for 300$ i couldnt say no to that coming off of an i7 4790 and gtx 970. Am very happy with the 11700k and the 3070ti i have paired with it. Gonna be swapping the gpu to a 3080 soon!
I remember The Hate about this CPU For The assumption, "extreme consume" and "extreme temperature". Only about for previous Review about Andtech (i don't know name write like this), but reality "extreme temperature and consume" not son much extreme liked Andtech says.
I not said not consume or not are little Hot but not liked exaggeration about previous Review AndTech. This CPU hasta to much Hate on Him, The I9 11900K maybe he deserves it. But this CPU Was Good, much better some people Think it's a garbage.
Just picked this chip up for $245 on best buy and an Aorus Master for $129 on Newegg... you can't beat that!
I got both on NewEgg a year ago with a combo deal for $420. I really like the Z590 Aorus Master. I tried a Hyper 212 EVO that wasn't quite enough cooling power. After switching to a Thermalright PA120 it runs much cooler. You really do need a cooling solution that can maintain 200+ Watts TDP.
@@michaelclark9762 I actually ended up returning both and found a barely used 11700K for $212 and a Gigabyte Z590 VISION D for $103 because I take advantage of it's thunderbolt port for 3D rendering. Really happy with it. I sold a z390 master and a 9900K and ended up pocketing some money too.
Good job and getting the PA120. You can't beat the performance to price on that one.
I have this 11700k and i love it. After i upgraded from 10600k into this i stopped watching youtube videos also when youtubers compare performance. As they promis me there is only 3-5 fps diff, i found myself that 11700k is like 30-40% faster then 10th gen similar processor :)

@@fikifo Yes , sometimes HWinfo64 reports the cpu core lows as 0, when running long enough they all will eventually show a 0 on minimum core temp. I don't think it's an issue though. Not one to rma your cpu for despite what some may claim, it's part of the marketing war against Rocket-lake i guess.
Really good video brother keep up the good work
how well does it scale with ram overclocking
I upgraded to this from an 8700k, I'm happy...
I'd love to see Escape from Tarkov in benchmarks, as it is a very processor-centric game.
How can I complain, I just got this cpu and a z590 motherboard new at MC for $299
A pretty good deal!
Ah the twilight days of DDR4. It and the 11900K are latency kings. Pair it with DDR4-5333 and you have something great for esports
The memory controller is the only reason to go for an 11900k over an 11700k tbh
Some Gigabyte boards let the chips pull more watts for longer periods of times vs. other boards
got my 11700k running 5ghz all core on a shitty 240mm rad. With an rtx 4080. 1440p with ray tracing, that's where I'm at. That, plus high refresh in esports titles. Perfect chip. Love it. First cpu I've been able to overclock. Benchmarks on my channel.
I loved this chip too! It was an overlooked banger
Got one for only £210 and with MSI Coreliquid 360S it idles around 30c and full load under 75c. While gaming 60c.
That’s a steal!
Just got a 11700KF for 6700THB (~$176) during a clearance sale and now thinking about 360mm AIO for light overclocking. Good to know it doesn't get too hot. What mainboard do you have or what would you recommend? Z590s are still pretty expensive, but I hope to buy an MSI Z590 Torpedo, Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X or perhaps even a Asrock Z590 Steel Legend (now ~$120) at a discount soon.
I7 11 gen have PCI express 4.0 os better and fast
@@ProceuTech that explains, indeed we don't all have all generations of Intel CPUs laying around 🙂
Still, I liked how your video went a bit more in-depth about Cypress Cove.
It’s what the PC is running at! If you have a 144Hz monitor, then you will see more frames than the 60Hz that I used in this review!
this is a very good CPU and I mean very.

Why am I watching this? Great video my guy. My 11700k is power hungry. Undervolt to 65w my guy and make vid
