- Here it is folks! I present to you, my proudest ever shiny and favorite Pokémon of all time… The first ever, LIVE shiny Smeargle in gen 2!
I'm back guys! First off I wanted to apologize for the long hiatus. Aside from some personal things that have been going on in my life, I have been dedicating 100% of my time spent hunting on this hunt. And boy did it pay off.
I started this hunt back in late March of this year. And I can't believe it's already almost October! Going into this hunt I did not set my expectations high and was completely aware of my phase odds. Unfortunately, it may have gone a little worse than I expected. On average I should have found Smeargle after only 10 phases. But instead I went to 16!
Throughout the course of this hunt I could feel my sanity draining and my patience as a shiny hunter being tested. However the thought of finding a shiny Smeargle was enough to keep me going through all of it (and of course your guys continuous support!) And I think it's fair to say I won't be doing one of these again anytime in the near future, haha.
My advice to you if you plan to ever do a hunt like this is to keep yourself busy with other hunts. ESPECIALLY if there's only 1 other thing you can phase for in the area, lol. I can't speak on behalf of all shiny hunters, but what I'll say is that a shiny is only worth what you think it's worth. I've seen people go for some crazy rare stuff. But if it's something you don't really care about, I would not recommend doing it. Use that time on something that'll be worth your while.
This is one of my proudest ever shinies, and I'm so happy I get to share it with you all. And thank you guys so much for over 500 subscribers! I thought this would be a perfect hunt to celebrate such a milestone. And I've never been more happier or proud than now to be a shiny hunter. Because of your guys continuous support I get the motivation to comeback and hunt as much as I possibly can. It's moments like this that make all those countless hours spent on random encounters and soft resets worth it.

You're like the alternate timeline version of that guy that did like 200k encounters for Shiny Natu
Wasn’t there a guy who was shiny hunting Natu in HGSS for somewhere around 10 years or something?
Amazing job dude, seriously. I loved every bit of this video. Your reaction was just sheer elation. Phasing is horrendous especially when the variety isn't there so good job sticking with it. It has to be amazing to have your favourite Pokemon in its original generation. Love the Majora's Mask editing too!

What really adds to it is that then you yourself would go on to have a hunt in Silver where you were also hunting a mammalian Pokemon known for its' tail(s), only to get an excessive amount of a particular bird Pokemon before getting your target!

The best part is how you lose happiness with each Natu you find. I can literally hear you gradually slipping away into madness 😂

The Smeargle was alright, but the real treasure I gained from this hunt was the plethora of Natu puns that will haunt me for the rest of my days 🤡

the gradual progression of “yo a Shiny Natu!” to “whyyyyy meeee” is astounding. i commend your perseverance! i can only imagine the anxiety you felt every time a Natu slid across the screen during this haha
It's always funny hearing the 1st phase pokemon be found. I was super happy finding my 1st pidove but after the 5th I was super angry lol. Congrats on the catch!

Really excited to see that you're doing some gen 2 hunting! I mostly hunt in gen 2, and as someone who loves rare target hunts it really is a dream! Whew. That was a journey! I could feel the anguish towards the 14th, and especially, the 15th natu. But you did it! That's grit!!! Starting from the first Natu to the shiny smeargle, I could only think of all that's happened in the last 6 months. It's kinda nostalgic even though it wasn't too too long ago.

I also did a Smeargle hunt! I got 10 Natus in the process so I ended up catching one in the safari zone after 2 phases there!! Its so rewarding getting one.

I used to have a shiny Smeargle in gen 7 with an ohko moveset. Perhaps it's time for me to res an old favorite in BDSP should he get drafted. My goodness, so many shiny Natus, how are you all doing?! As soon as I saw this, all I could think about was the guy who spent 2 years looking for a Shiny Natu in the Safari Zone and got like, 11 Shiny Oddish before the Natu lol the irony. Anyway, congrats on the Smeargle!

I started my journey for a 10% Shiny Smeargle about 2 years ago in HeartGold... Ended up getting a Shiny Natu in 44 REs and haven't gotten back to the hunt since... 😆 I named it "209,779" in tribute to mi678tv's hunt of that many REs for a Shiny Natu!
