Ohh the temptation! I’ll hopefully be able to get one of these by the end of the year. The only reels I have used in the past ten years have been the Chronarch, Aldebaran, and Metanium. The Metanium has always been my favorite of the bunch. I can’t imagine how awesome this new one is.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE FINISH ON THE REEL IS MORE DURABLE. WITH THE PREVIOUS METANIUM THE FINISH SCRATCHED VERY EASILY. I TAKE EXTREMELY GOOD CARE OF MY GEAR AND WAS SICK TO MY STOMACH WHEN THE FINISH CHIPPED OFF SO EASILY. I WANT TO BUY SOME OF THE NEW METANIUMS BUT THEY HAVE TO HAVE FIXED THAT PROBLEM BEFORE I SHELL OUT THAT KIND OF CASH. ILL STICK WITH THE CHRONARCH MGL IF THEY HAVENT.
It’s definitely a more durable finish. I sold off my 2016 Metaniums & purchased these. Fished 2 yrs & the look brand new, no harsh boat rash that the old models got

It's the magnesium CoreSolid body, so it's a little bit darker than the previous model.

Im a foundryworker and I melt bronz, brass.,aluminium. Its not all black and White with the brass and aluminium alloys. Depends on what other things you add. You can make hard and soft alloys. If the reel was made of 100% aluminium it wold be like having a piece of cheese in your hand. If you add copper it get harder but cracks easy. Its a mix of some alloys that get you what you need. I wouldent be surprised if the guy in The video mixed up brass with aluminium brons. Looks almost the same but the al bronse is rock hard and suited for high use/demands. Sorry im swedish, not sure what Word to use here
brass is more durable than aluminum. people said their old metaniums would get "geary" because aluminum starts wearing down fast af.
@@brandonr2188 I have heard this exact same thing too and although I would really like to pick up a, Metanium DC I have heard with the Aluminum (Micro Module) Gears that are in them they can get that Geary/Rough feeling fast some people have said
Joe D the 2020 metanium mgl is VERY good(brass gears too!), can find on ebay for $306 from japan. Mine took about 5 days to get here.
Just got mine in, definitely the nicest feeling reel that's been in my hands, hopefully get it spooled this weekend!!!#SHIMANO
