I just picked up the 22 metanium shallow. Absolutely love it… casts like a dream and is so buttery smooth on retrieve… I have a hard time putting it down even when I know I need to be fishing another combo for a specific lure.
I own a shallow and the 20 metanium. My diawa zillion does what both of those reels do. They're great reels, but are too tactics specific.
Congrats on the new addition to the family!!!It's a very very nice combo. I bought a couple of currado DC's Last year. This year I was thinking about buying 1 super super nice addition to the lineup. I'm just kind of mad I bought about 50 rods and reels last year and went that mid range point and wish I would have bought 10 super nice ones Instead of What I did
Thank you for the kind words. Yeah I went with this combo with what you had mentioned, get myself one high end piece to the line up. The problem is when you get something so nice, it ruins you from the low end stuff haha. I love all my gear but this is just a few notches above the rest.
This the tightest metanium yet. It's weird. It's like smooth but just everything is tight tolerances. I love it. Love the video

Sir, have you tried activating the 4 white coloured tiny braking blocks under the side cover? Mine was OFF, all 4 (factory setting) of them when unboxing. Much better I guess?

Just rinse it after every use in saltwater like i do with my 10yr old Core 50mg7 and still works flawless.

Did you ever throw a 1\2 ounce crankbait with the metainium 20 vs metainium dc which cast longest?
I just ordered the METMGL150B expecting it to be in by Friday. I'm pairing this with my 2020 zodias 7.5 MH. Can this reel handle crankbaits like 6xd? I can't find a video of metanium being tried on a crankbait. Thanks!

I was extremely close to purchasing the 7’3” Poison Adrena but decided to go with the MegaBass Destroyer 7’6” Valdivia. Just couldn’t see not buying the Destroyer for just a few more dollas! Although I’m about to replace my Duckett Micro Magic 7’3” MH and I believe the Shimano Poison Adrena will get the nod on this purchase!! Great vid my man! Also going to pair it with a Metanium MGL.

A quick question for the people with the current model Poison Adrena rods. Anyone having the grip piece making a clicking noise? It’s driving me nuts.
Hey man, I haven’t experienced any issues with the rod or clicking. I wonder if it’s with your rod. I’ve had good luck with Shimano customer service, maybe send them a message and see if they can help. Good luck man
Had a clicking noise on my PA due to the locknut on the rod. It was driving me crazy because it felt like the rod handle was flexing. Sent TW a message and they replaced it. As long as the purchase is within a year, return it, or give Shimano a call.
What internal brake settings are you running ? I tried throwing 1/2 ounce buzzbait yesterday with new metanium and mostly birdnested. Never had that problem with any other Shimano. I was even birdnesting with 2 brakes on and dial turned to 6 😳. Could of been the blades catching too much air but man I was losing my mind.
+Toothies123 to be honest, I haven’t touched the internal brakes at all. Just dialed in the side brakes and spool tension until I started launching stuff haha. We have about 50mph winds here today but maybe tomorrow I’ll play with the internals and see what I can some up with. I’m already planning on doing an update to this reel and I’ll try and talk about that in the update.
Fishhook Terry I appreciate it. Ya if you haven’t touched the internal brakes yet they come stock all turned on I believe. Amazing that you were able to cast like that. I haven’t been able to cast worth a damn with this thing yet. Even with brakes turned off but like I said my guess is the blades on the buzzbait were catching some serious wind and that was causing the backlash. Or the very rare chance I have a defective reel but I doubt that.
Also using 15 pound sniper FC
+Toothies123 I agree with you, I bet that buzz bait is giving that reel fits. I got mine dialed in with a swim jig and now it’s been really good for just about anything including spinnerbaits. I have 15lb Seaguar InvizX on it and it’s good, but I think I’d get a little better line management with Sunline Sniper. That stuff is really my go to but I tried the InvizX from Instagram recommendations.

How well does it cast a weightless 5in senko?
Haven’t tried it yet, but with my experience with other Shimano’s and how easy this has been to dial in. I’d say it will throw one very well. I believe this reel is a very good all around performer that should handle really any bait you want...except large swimbaits.

I got cheaper reels that cast 1/2 onz heavy really easy like, try 2 grams or less lures. Luv the Curado K no prob its all in the mind exspensiv combo's really. Got them too Aldebaran bfs xg Steez and the air truly, theres no need to have that Metanium with the little changes in the range highend of Shimano. Daiwa is really great and little better too. That sayed " its a great combo by any means, but not all that for the money.
The Dc's and Metanium guys go for the looks and the sound, but do the catch better 😂 anyways Congrat on your son, that is what money dont can buy his first fish just on the cheap rod.
At that price it shouldn't be birdnesting even wide open ,FAIl.
+Jose Gomez no reel is birdsnest proof. Just because you buy a Lamborghini over a Kia, doesn’t guarantee you can’t crash it.
