    It's a great knife and steel, I've been using the K390 Delica every day for 3+ weeks, it's still sharp.

    Love the Delica. Have it in K390, M390, Cru-Wear, SG2, and of course VG10. Take a historically great knife in the Delica and give it a finger choil and G10 scales. Bamn, that would breathe life into an whole next generation of Delicas.

      @@michael6402 - yeah. I have seen acrylic and steel versions, but damn they are expensive for a VG10 blade.

      @@Abby_Normal_1969 the Para 3 is close to a G10 Delica, it's just a bit thicker and doesn't have a back lock. And the Stretch 2 is a Paramilitary 2 Lightweight with a back lock. I like this mixing and matching that Spyderco does with materials and locking mechanisms. The Manix 1 originally had a back lock. The Sage 3 had a ball bearing lock, it was like a mini Manix 2, now the Sage 5 has a compression lock. Just amazing.

    One thing I've learned with my Delica is that its not a knife to fidget with. Open it use it and put it away lol. I grabbed the DLT cpm20cv exclusive.

    I picked up on of these like a month or so ago and I’m so glad I did! K390 is a beast of course but I was really surprised on how much I’ve connected with my delica! It’s actually fun to play with even tho it’s a back lock and after I put a mxg deep carry clip on it, it carries great!

    I have a lot of knives at this point, and the one I carry everyday (I usually carry 2 or 3), is my serrated Delica in K390. Now that it's been discontinued, I ordered 2 more for backups.

    Short answer, if you really use k390, it will corrode. my blade has turned black with corrosion, but it works fine, holds an edge. if you work outside, especially in humid or salty environments, it will tarnish BIGTIME.

    • @FreedomFox1
      @FreedomFox1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you oil it? Mineral oil should prevent corrosion.

    • @jaystrongbow9435
      @jaystrongbow9435 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FreedomFox1 it's not practical to oil my knife while working. Dancing around the fact that k390 is a tarnish magnet is silly. If you use it, the blade will be black in 6 months. I just sharpen it and it continues to perform great however!

    • @FreedomFox1
      @FreedomFox1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaystrongbow9435 I haven’t had that experience, just oil it up at the end of the day (even then, only if it gets used a lot). But I could see it being an issue if you get something like food stuck to the blade.

      I oil mine regularly (Endura 4,Wharnecliffe blade, K390). Terrific knife, love it. Have one with VG10 also; like the K390 better.
      Will the blade put with corrosion? I don't mind it turning color or tarnishing or whatever, just don't want pitting.

    This is the only k390 seki city model I haven’t picked up yet....the k390 dragonfly, endela and endura are all *fantastic* knives. It’s difficult to overstate their beauty, both functionally and ergonomically. My favorite Spyderco will probably always be the crucarta Shaman. It’s just got too much going for it...it’s my perfect pocket knife. But these aren’t far off. Dress up that Endura with a nice set of micarta scales and the Shaman will be getting a serious run for its money....

    Just got two k390 spidercos in today:) very excited.
    I’m in ks also, work blue collar, my knives get used regularly and earn their keep. I’ve found it difficult to keep m4 flawless so I’m considering having these k390 knives ceramic coated. Especially for what I paid for the lil temperance 3… whew

    At 10:18, I am quite confident that those two black spots on the blade and the one tiny spot on the edge were caused by corrosion. They may not have been deep enough to be called pits, but they resulted from corrosion. That's why you had a hard time removing them in the video.

    I love k390 steel.
    I have a Spyderco stretch 2 in k390. Have had it about a year. Still hair shaving sharp.
    At the time i had a hard time choosing between the delica/endela/endura k390 vs the stretch 2 k390. Ultimately i chose the stretch 2 because of the finger choil- which i use majority of the time when gripping the knife.
    I like the size of the delica and i probably would have chosen the delica over the stretch 2 if it had a finger choil.
    I like k390 so much, i just ordered a dragonfly 2 wharncliffe blade in k390.cant wait

    Just a warning to anybody taking this knife apart (I did it) you need 3 hands to put it back together. I had to use my teeth to put the screw back in that goes through the back lock spring back while using my hands to hold the tension down.

    • @sebastianheuser1221
      @sebastianheuser1221 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree! Its a very bad idea to take it appart. Just dont do it!

    • @georgemorley1029

      Assemble the knife but leave the back lock pin out, close the blade up, push the back lock down onto the spring and simultaneously push the pin through until the back lock hole meets up with the pin and it pops through. Takes about 20-30 seconds, no more. Simple.

    Why haven't we seen any coated K390?
    Especially from Spyderco, I would've thought they'd have released some DLC K390 or DLC Maxamet by now, so we can get all the awesomeness of these steels without worrying about the corrosion so much.
    And I don't seem to see anyone else talking about it. Why is that?? :o)
