I actually met Chris Farley in Chicago. Very sweet person with a wicked sense of humor. Wish he got treatment for the substance abuse problems. He is sorely missed.
He had a lot of demons, and needed more help than he got, though he tried. Addiction is an extremely difficult thing to address, because there are so many underlying things. I wish he had made it. He was so funny and seemed so sweet, and blessed so many people.
I think I was at DFW. I just said hey Chris. You're hilarious. Thank you for making me laugh. He came down and told me "thanks bro". I'm SO sad he's gone. I was young, and I tried to treat him without fanboy.
The "Fat guy in a little coat..." bit came from the days when they shared an office at SNL. Chris Farley would always prank David Spade or try to make him laugh and he put his coat on one day and started singing. Makes me happy that it was something from their real life together. RIP Chris Farley.
“what’d you do??” Has been said with these lips countless times ever since I first saw this movie, as a young kid, almost 30 years ago. And it still gets me every time I see it
I grew up watching this and Black Sheep all the time. I love these movies. Imagine the greatness we could have had if Chris didn't pass. RIP to the legend.
Bo Derek was the "Mom". When she came out of the pool and Tommy said, "She's a 10" it was a reference to the Movie, "Ten" which starred Bo Derek. Her "Son" was Rob Lowe, who was popular at the time and known for his sex tape that was one of the first before it was fashionable for celebrities to have them "exposed". David Spade was a co-star on SNL and in "Joe Dirt" and other comedies that you have to watch.
Chris Farley sadly passed away in 1997. He followed in the footsteps of John Belushi, who also starred on SNL and went on to make comedy movies. They both passed away from a drug overdose, both at the age of 33.
I'm just grateful I had this movie on VHS, the laughs it gave me when I was a kid was honestly really great, and I also hope you all had a great time watching this movie... R.I.P to Chris Farley too, the man was a credit to comedic works everywhere
When I was a kid I put a 1/2 metal ball bearing on my Moms dash to watch it roll around as she drove. Well, it somehow fell into the defrost vent and even though my Dad tore the whole dash apart he could never get it out. Every time you would turn a corner wawawawaw CLACK! Somewhere there's a 79' red Toyota Corolla driving someone nuts. :)
I went to an automotive tech college in Ohio, and this movie was almost sacred there lmao since Callahan Auto is in Sandusky, Ohio. There was Callahan Auto stuff everywhere at my school lol
Chris Farley was my favorite as a little kid.. He was originally supposed to play Shrek. But he unfortunately passed right before they finished recording his lines. There's a video of a rough sketch of the campfire scene of Shrek and Donkey, with Chris and Eddie Murphy doing the lines. They rewrote the movie after he passed to fit Mike Myers. The campfire scene is the only scene they didn't change.. I think they also inserted a Chris Farley bit into the movie, but I forgot what it was.
You have to check out his motivational speaker skit with Phil Hartman, Julia Sweeney Christina Applegate, and David Spade. Quite possibly the funniest skit ever.
I saw you guys were reacting to this 24 hours ago. I got so excited. Asia u may actually cry twice in this movie. I was born in 82. This was right in my wheelhouse as far as movies go. And Chris was a legend. If u liked this u should also do “black sheep”
Black sheep is okay, but if you walk in after seeing black sheep it will disappoint. They didn’t have improve freedom with Black Sheep, and it’s pretty dull.
The step mom played by Bo Derek , was in a movie in 1979 called " 10 " with Dudley Moore . It was a comedy . That's why Tommy said " She's Like a 10 " . Also the actor who plays Tommy ' s dad was in the movie " 10 ".
The part where Richard opens the car door and it falls off and hes like "what'd you do??" i say this all the time to this day sarcastically when shit is goin sideways at work🤣🤣
One of my favorite comedy’s. David spade was his side kick. They played so well off each other. As well as Adam Sandler. What a great time for snl when they were all there. I was a teenager then so I just adored them and all their characters. So fun to watch you guys enjoy this.
Tommy’s dad was played by Brian Dennehy one of the great character actors. He’s fantastic as the Sheriff in First Blood and as another kind of Sheriff in Silverado (a movie that you must react to). He also played Willy Loman to great acclaim in stage and screen versions of Death of a Salesman.
*SAVE YOURSELVES!!! YOUR FIREARMS ARE USELESS AGAINST THEM* My brothers and I quote this movie heavily to this day. I wish Chris Farley got to see how beloved he actually was and still is.
Chris Farley's most famous SNL skit was the " I Live in a Van down by the River"! and that was David Spade (Richard) who was also in the SNL cast at the same time as Farley. They were best of friends.
"Grumpy Old Men"(1993) is a hilarious classic, the second one, "Grumpier Old Men"(1995) is really good too. "City Slickers"(1991) and 2 (1994) with Billy Crystal are also funny as hell. "Running Scared"(1986) with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines is a lost buddy comedy. Loving the content and quality content, Asia and BJ.
7:59 Chris Farley's comment about Bo Dereck, "Dad, she's like a 10!" well, that was the title of a movie that had Bo Dereck in it, and yes, she was the 10!
He also did Beverly Hills Ninja and Black Sheep.. And he played someone in Norm Macdonald's movie called "Dirty Work". He also makes cameos in Adam Sandler's "Billy Madison" and Mike Myer and Dana Carvey's "Wayne's World 1 & 2".
I will never get tired of watching people discover how amazingly funny and endearing Chris Farley was. Breaks my heart that he succumbed to his demons. Adam Sandler released a song not too long ago about him. Legit made me cry. There are sooo many great SNL skits with Chris. He was going to be Shrek and had half the movie animated and recorded when he passed. That’s when they scrapped it all and restarted with Mike Myers. It was a pleasure watching y’all laugh as hard as we did when this came out. As long as we still watch these movies and share them, he’ll never truly be gone. Rest in peace, Chris. We miss you! ❤️🕊️
RIP, Chris Farley. Dude had a great sense of humor; his films are rather underrated. He was quite talented and it's a damn shame he died so young. IMHO, this movie along with Black Sheep are probably his two best films.
"Long ago, and, oh, so far away I fell in love with you before the second show Your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear But you're not really here, it's just the radio…" Got into this song cause of this movie. Lol. RIP Chris Farley. Wish he was still here with us.
Man I had the greatest pleasure to meet and see Chris in Chicago at SECOND CITY ... He was so funny he took over the show..... I just knew this man was going to be something..... And on everything ,I love less than a few months later... He blew up and the world knew Chicago's secret.......RIP LEGEND
Bo Derek, when she was in her prime, was in a movie called, "10"....so when Chris Farely says "She's like a 10" it's a subtle reference to her starring in that 1979 flick....
Chris Farley was a comedy legend. His time on SNL includes some of their best sketches ever. Beverly Hills Ninja should get you both laughing hysterically.
Omg I’m so glad I caught the release as it dropped. I CANNOT WAIT to see your reaction to this. It’s my all time favorite movie!!!! You two are the best.
Fun Fact: Chris Farley was actually the original choice to be the voice of Shrek and actually did some voice work for the movie until his death. Shrek would be shelved for a few years and redone with Mike Myers doing the voice of Shrek.
Fun Fact: the girl from the pool scene was actually Chris Farley’s girlfriend. He was hella protective and respectful to her and waited off camera during her scene with a towel and robe❤
Chris Farley was the original Shrek & actually recorded some audio for the film. When he passed, Mike Myers altered the character to the one we know today 💚
I absolutely love this movie. Richard is played by David Spade, and also both him and Chris Farley did a similar movie together called black sheep… also a very good comedy
David Spade and Chris Farley we’re comedy gold! They had amazing chemistry together and I love ❤️ this movie so much and I laugh along with it every time I see it! Michael Lorne, who hires all the comedian’s on SNL and as two were coming popular on the show, he decided to have a movie made with these two and he told the writers of the movie to write ✍️ a movie on how they naturally acted with each other on the show and the rest is history and Chris and David improvised different things in the movie based on what they thought was funny and they were right! Fun seeing you guys watch and react to it, it’s a true classic!
It’s funny when I see Rob Lowe(the evil step brother) in this film. He was a huge star in the 80’s and this was kind of a comeback for him. He and Farley were supposed to be the pairing in this movie, but when the chemistry between Farley and Spade was noticed they re-wrote the movie for them to be the duo. Also, Farley and Spade fought over the attention of Rob During filming, and got a little crazy, to the point where they got in a childish fight.
The actor playing Richard is David Spade. He's in one of the most iconic comedies of all time, Joe Dirt. You should definitely react to that movie. You'll love it!
Tommy Boy is, hands down, my favorite Chris Farley movie. Chris and David were our generation's Matthau and Lemmon (Odd Couple). RIP Chris. Taken far too soon.
This was the pinnacle of 90s comedy right up there with Dumb & Dumber like ya'll said. One of the favorites I watched with my big bro and a bunch of our friends, we quoted this movie endlessly. Chris Farley was a bit of an icon for us as teenagers. I still remember hearing the news that he died, right after lunch at school in 1997. Don't ask me how we got that news, this was pre-cell phones and every body having the internet all the time. This was probably his best movie. He and David Spade did another movie about a year after this called Black Sheep. It's funny, but not as good as Tommy Boy.
Both were on SNL. In case you didn't notice, Dan Ackroyd was also in this (SNL, Blues Brothers, Ghost Busters). Brian Dennehy played the dad. He was in "Cocoon" which you should watch.
I laugh as much today as I did when this movie first came out. Not too gross, not too vulgar, not too serious, just a fun, comedy gem by one of the great physical comedians of all-time. So many quotable lines and great scenes. "I'm a maniac, maniac..."
I graduated high school the year this came out and we went to see this a few times because it was so good. Farley and Spade were awesome together. Chris was special and we all miss him
God we miss you Chris Farley. Recently watched Hotel Transylvania again and when i saw Frankenstein all i could think was damn this was meant for chris.
This is one of the funniest movies ever, with SO much heart!! I really miss Chris Farley. 😔 You two are so much fun!!! You both have wonderful, infectious laughs, and Asia, if we don't get at least half a dozen "You are lying!" comments from you in each movie, it's just not right. 😆 Keep being awesome!!
I actually met Chris Farley in Chicago. Very sweet person with a wicked sense of humor. Wish he got treatment for the substance abuse problems. He is sorely missed.
He did get treatment, it just didn't take, unfortunately
Some people just burn too bright
He had a lot of demons, and needed more help than he got, though he tried. Addiction is an extremely difficult thing to address, because there are so many underlying things.
I wish he had made it. He was so funny and seemed so sweet, and blessed so many people.

YES!! 😂
He didn't just do it one day, he did it to him all the time. It was a running gag for Farley, and he ruined Spade's coat every single time.
Crazy to think they shared an office annex with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. Talk about a great room for being a fly on the wall
The housekeeping bit was also just something they did.
“what’d you do??” Has been said with these lips countless times ever since I first saw this movie, as a young kid, almost 30 years ago. And it still gets me every time I see it
the best laugh in the movie for me..
Same here! I say it all the time and it never gets old. Been over 20 years.
Fun fact the reason it was written in the movie was because the director had done it before and thought it'd be funny. Well he was right.
@@bendmymind486only part I laugh at more is “did you eat a lot of paint chips as a kid?” … “why?” 😂😂
I grew up watching this and Black Sheep all the time. I love these movies. Imagine the greatness we could have had if Chris didn't pass. RIP to the legend.
Those 2 & Beverly Hills Ninja were like the Holy Trinity of Chris Farley movies for me growing up
Bo Derek was the "Mom". When she came out of the pool and Tommy said, "She's a 10" it was a reference to the Movie, "Ten" which starred Bo Derek. Ahh, I remember that isht when it happened. I always felt bad for Rob Lowe but he did alright.
I love the fact BJ was more concerned about wasting peanut M&M’s than what they’d do to the car 😂
Chris Farley sadly passed away in 1997. He followed in the footsteps of John Belushi, who also starred on SNL and went on to make comedy movies. They both passed away from a drug overdose, both at the age of 33.
you know who else died at 33?
Tommy Boy is essentially the 90's version of Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
RIP, Chris Farley, we miss you after all these years. He was one of the funniest men on the small screen and the big screen.
Fun fact: In the movie 50 first date, Tommy boy Callahan was mentioned in a scene that they are funding the brain clinic.
I'm just grateful I had this movie on VHS, the laughs it gave me when I was a kid was honestly really great, and I also hope you all had a great time watching this movie...
R.I.P to Chris Farley too, the man was a credit to comedic works everywhere
****He did a Male Striipper skit with Patrick Swayze that is Hilarious!
For 30 years, my favorite saying has been, "That's going to leave a mark."
I usually follow it up with, it doesn’t hurt so much here, or here, mostly just right here (gesturing directly at the bruise).
What I love about this movie is that while it’s hysterical, it also has so much heart. You don’t usually get that in comedies. Chris Farley was a gem.
Not very fun fact: Beverly had a controlling husband at that time, and he pressured her into cutting her hair short so she would look less attractive.
omg ! one of my favorites all time:)
me and my brothers literally still quote Chris Farley all the time in conversation.
The line, “Dad, she’s like a 10”, is a nod to Bo Derek, the lady that played Beverly. She was in a movie called 10 back in the day.
Watching BJ sing The Carpenters was WORTH paying for TH-camPlus.
