Dad said most guys will go ahead and pee outside instead of using the bathroom inside. Marking your territory only works if your smell is associated with something the animals fear. Otherwise they'll know you've claimed the spot. They'll be cautious as they eat your garden. But they won't bother staying away cause they know they aren't gonna get eaten by the think that peed there cause that thing isn't around at that moment.
My ex was a barber. He used to give his gardening friends bags of hair that were swept from the 💈 shop floor to scatter around the perimeter of their veggies. It works a treat on bunnies, hares, and other assorted pests. 😊

And yes, my husband pees in the yard, mostly to try to discourage the woodchucks!
I made a mixture of warm water, little bit of neem oil, soap and powdered hot pepper. Warm water helps prevent neem oil to block a sprinkler. Soap allowed mixture to stay on a plant for longer. It helps.

I heard about this and started using the hair from my hairbrush near the squash the deer kept eating the blossoms before they could even start turning into squash and it works! We live along the river out in the country too so lots of deer around us

Careful with the cat hair. If you ever apply topical meds like flea or tick prevention it can hurt the birds.
