You have to nap the edge using a copper napper, tiny flakes, it will become way sharper than the metal blade, sharper than a medical tool. The funny thing is it will take you years to learn how to do it properly, highly recommend visiting a Indian Reservation.

The sharpest obsidian blades are freshly knocked of flakes, not knives. You take a flake off with a soft hammer and you get an edge that's so sharp you won't even feel it whdn you accidently filet your thumb.

Its going to be sharp right
But its brittle af since it has laughable tensile strength. So unless you want Glass shards in your food, its not practical for an Obsidian kitchen Knife. Theres a very good reason we use Diamond Edge for most things.

obsidian isnt metal, it cant be sharpened through filing like most other knives, obsidian is volcanic glass and can be made to have sharp edges through fractures at the correct angles (its why all the pits in the knife are round, its the way that the material breaks naturally and you cant really do it any other way)

Many have mentioned that shards of obsidian are the sharpest objects to currently exist, but some haven't mentioned exactly how sharp. The sharpest point of an obsidian shard can be as fine as up to 30 angstroms, or 3x10^-7cm. That is sharp enough to cut a singular cell and is often used in situations where laser surgery is unavailable because it is just that sharp.

I’d brandish my obsidian knife at them and they’d be compelled to approach. “That’s very cool,” they’d say, confident in their superior strength and endurance from all the rocks they carry around at all times. They’d shower me with very interesting facts about obsidian and hover just out of range of the cutting edge, waiting for me to exhaust myself. “But as it is volcanic glass, it’s very fragile, you see, and isn’t well-suited for use as a weap-” and then I’d hit them with the wooden baseball bat in my other hand, which they would not have noticed because geologists can only see rocks and minerals.

Disclaimer: my hatred of geologists is purely theatrical, but if I did have to kill one for some reason, it would be very easy.
I'd brandish my obsidian knife at them and they'd be compelled to approach. "That's very cool," they'd say, confident in their superior strength and endurance from all the rocks they carry around at all times. They'd shower me with very interesting facts about obsidian and hover just out of range of the cutting edge, waiting for me to exhaust myself. "But as it is volcanic glass, it is very fragile, you see, and isn't well-suited for use as a weap-" and then I'd hit them with the wooden baseball bat in my other hand, which they would not have noticed because geologists can only see rocks and minerals.

Obsidian, when sharpened correctly, which you did not do, is one of the sharpest substances we have.
