The only 'power' the pretentious have is a belief in false 'authority'. When this goes, there is literally nothing left..which is why people cling to it 'for dear life'..
It is the illegitimacy of the self-appointed, thus false, 'authority' that is the core of all Human failings, not the core of the Human being itself..
Born into a false ideology, we are conditioned to reject truth, and thus also the truth of ourselves, which perpetuates the pretentious 'society' and produces the very uncivilised 'civilisation'..
All the genuine ever ask for is genuineness; genuine 'civility', in the knowledge that the false, corrupt and pretentious 'society' is doomed to its own self-annihilation..
"There is nothing more necessary than truth, and in comparison with it everything else has only secondary value. This absolute will to truth: what is it? Is it the will to not allow ourselves to be deceived? Is it the will not to deceive? One does not want to be deceived, under the supposition that it is injurious, dangerous, or fatal to be deceived."
      (Friedrich Nietzsche, 1890)

Not to start a fight.. But according to an American accountant… The crown creates $3 for ever $1 spent on the crown. It is the #1 reason tourists come to England. It literally pays for itself and HRH gave away millions year to dozens or more of charity. So the monarch has no power, pays for it self and donates millions and still people hate the institution. My dad was Scottish. Born in Glasgow in 1944. Spent 32 years in the US Army special forces. He loved the Queen. And never called himself British. He and William Wallace could be brothers lol. God save the King.

She and the monarchy represents history, continuity, to their peoples past. She holds no political power, but she was the face of her nation and governmental partners. We have in the US what some nations split. A president and a prime minister, or a monarch and a prime minister. Our American president wears both hats. I sometimes wish we had a parliamentary government, under a constitutional monarchy. It stabilizes a people I think.

Nearly everybody who has worked with him was dazzled by his intelligence (it's been said it's the thing that attracted and continues to attract Hillary to him). I thought he offered a unique take on Queen Elizabeth. More than just describing her as the nation's "granny" or something.

Former President Barack Obama and Former First Lady Michelle Obama first met Queen Elizabeth II in April 2009, a little over a year after Obama had taken office. The queen developed a fondness for the president and throughout his presidency, they would share several more meetings. Obama's last visit as president to Windsor Castle was in 2016 for the queen's 90th birthday (per Hello!).
Queen Elizabeth II enjoyed the company of the Obamas so much that she even wanted to invite them back once Obama left office, something that had not been done with any other former presidents. According to Insider, a former employee told royal author Tom Quinn that "The queen has a soft spot for Americans after meeting Barack Obama who she completely fell in love with - so much so that she has frequently asked her courtiers if they could arrange for him to come to Britain now he is no longer president."
Barack and Michelle Obama joined the world in expressing their sadness over the queen's passing and shared a statement on Twitter saying, "Michelle and I were lucky enough to come to know Her Majesty, and she meant a great deal to us." They've both always been charmers. Clinton, especially. It's largely why he was elected by such huge margins both times. We've long had a tendency to choose presidents based on how they make us feel rather than their acumen or qualifications. Of course, once they're in office, any bad policies will obscure said charm. Though his policies and decisions were largely bad, President Bush, for his part, is a tremendously decent human being. He was just in a bit over his head. It's partially our fault for putting him there, I suppose. That said, to his credit, he should be remembered for what he *didn't* do. After 9/11, he could've demonized the Muslim community. America was looking for a scapegoat. He defended American Muslims.
