@@Consural one of the best albums of all time. Even though it's heretical to say, at times I feel it's even better than Meshugah itself.
Such a strong, powerful, alien, avantgarde album that is so increasingly more immersive and fulfilling as the album progresses.
But it is hard though cause Contradictions Collapse, Destroy Erase Improve, Nothing, Catch 33 and Obzen are such masterpieces as well.

Breath controllers are basically made to control synths like a flute. blowing into it makes the volume go up, and you can set the threshold so that blowing turns it on all the way up, or so that the harder you blow the louder it gets. You can set the blowing up to control other things than volume too though. And the 33 breath controller can be tilted up and down and left and right, and you cen set that up to control things too. It's like a joystick.

I just noticed that his entire background on myspace is an illustration of the famous Mandelbrot set, which I find very befitting. The Mandelbrot set is where math meets art, it's a visualization of infinite complexity, mystery and beauty, created simple means. It can be appealing even to a layman as it is graspable through our visual sense, even though it lacks almost all of the natural properties known. Fredrik is just an audile Mandelbrot.

No, as in wider steps within the scale, so rather than intervals of seconds or thirds, he will tend to use 6th, 7th or stacked triads/arpeggios within the scale shapes he is using. He also uses tapping to achive very wide sounding intervals, often the same scale shape played an octave above.

Actually, it is probably Drum Kit From Hell, I would think, because Catch 33 was written with DKFH, which is programmed computer drums. This was because Catch 33 is a guitar focused album, according to Haake, so the mechanical drums brought out the guitar more.

@SevenStringShredHead I think tuning it to E-A-E-A-E-A-C-E (Low to High; Open A minor), would make the most sense in terms of getting such a tuning out of an 8 string. However, I understand your point, and realize that no matter the tuning choice, Devin Townsend would ultimately be a beast at the instrument.

Speed is a dynamic which helps you express youself (musically). Sometimes you need to play slow and soft and sometimes you need to play hard and fast. This change/devolpment/evolution makes the musical phrases more interesting (gives them more life). At the 2.07 point Thorendal really gives it some. This "expressive progression" (u know what I mean!) is what gives his playing so much depth (plus why it's so hard to emulate). Maybe this is why he's wearing a Tool shirt; he likes progression.

@fergdrumgus There will be TWO drummers on the new SDFX album (playing simultaneously.) Morgan Agren (THE GOD) and the dude from Soilwork. I think the dude from Soilwork is handling more textural kind of things.

Incorrect. An unused composition from 'Sol...' possibly but this doesn't occur on the released version of the album.

I think the force of your breath controls the volume. So it's like a killswitch which turns off whenether you blow into it. That's why you can't really hear the picking.
